Modifying a game that doesn't provide modding support isn't an issue generally speaking, providing you're not doing it to cheat/exploit the online services or to rip the developers off by redistributing their game. If you however rip someone elses work (a map or a vehicle model that has been taken from another game) that's where the copyright or legal challenges come into play. Scripts I suspect fall into a different ballpark as it's quite difficult to prove you've "stolen" code when all the answers you need are probably on stackoverflow.

So maps should be fine so long as they don't contain models from other games. I think North Yankton could be completed using buildings in game. Some of the buildings are perfectly fine, others are missing a face, some are not solid.

Would there be an issue modifying R<^>'s original content?

Perhaps the dozen of pedestrians accidently killed during the process, not to mention the millions of damage worth of LC property for each traffic stop.

It was not the mod, but GTAIV lacked some serious safety for the citizens. ;)

Never had any issues with the stops like you described, except them stopping in the middle of the road or slightly scratching a parked vehicle on some occasions.

And I doubt GTA V cares about NPC safety even a little bit more. AI is a bit smarter, they now can (and sometimes actually manage to) drive around an obstacle, but other than that...

Correct, they "should" be fine in theory, however to save the hassle it's best not to explicitly support such mods. By providing support or integration with mods like this you open the doors for a potential copyright infringement.

Technically speaking if you make edits to their map you should be alright, providing you don't go spouting about saying you made it 100% and try claiming money for it etc. Again, it's copyright protected. But as I say above, if LSPDFR doesn't support the map mod (it just happens that some of it works, such as traffic stops in IV map mods) then that removes any chance of LSPDFR being challenged legally for copyright.

There's no reason why we couldn't add the ability to let people customize where the police stations are and such.  Regardless, I don't see this as something that will be necessary for quite some time.  Also, we're probably going to be doing the whole go on duty thing differently this time around.

What we have does actually have support for North Yankton already, although the map of North Yankton is too incomplete to be used for any practical purpose.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

I'm pretty sure when game files modding gets available - some skilled modders like Skilldre and Nine30 will fix and finish North Yankton. Right now it's  too soon to even think about it though. And State of San Andreas is huge enough to have fun for months until it gets boring.

i still find LC fun. dont get bored at all.. The callouts get a bit repettitive but overall i get something different every time

IPS4 was released around last month and is in version 4.0.3.
Regarding the hate, there's a few people who are trying to disrupt the community. I guess it may be connected to the percieved competition in the community and people with alligences elsewhere. It's certainly the case that most of those who have been leaving troll comments have odd usage behaviour of our site (using VPNs, anonymous/throwaway e-mails, etc) as if they have something to hide. People also know we don't generally remove comments or feedback unless it borders on trolling or straight out abuse.

Do people really waste their time doing that crap? Wow >,<. I am scared for our future...

I am surprised that I didn't get an email about IPS4, I own a valid license and all. Hm, thanks for the info bro!

I have an idea for this. Since in GTA V any ped can wear pretty much any uniform by just changing some codes (I'm pretty sure in GTA IV you could only wear what limited set clothes/skins your player had mapped for it--in GTA V I think you can just change some codes and get any uniform; I did it on a console with Michael: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6VPOAqLwFs) What if the trigger for LSPDFR was going to your closet and putting on an LSPD outfit or the like so you could play as a protagonist? Michael just puts on his cop outfit, and drives out of his house in a cop car, instead of the awkward sudden teleportation to the inside of the lawyer's office in Algonquin. Or if you want you could just be a cop model. In LCPDFR you could do that for a while by pressing control + P to play as the principle character. I don't know--just my 2 cents.

Not entirely true, we're (at the moment) using the normal single player models for both male and female cops as far as backup units, etc. are concerned.  I was tempted (and still am) to use the multiplayer models for the LSPD entirely, but they don't have holsters on their belts and their uniforms lack detail compared to the normal ones.  This may or may not be something that comes as an optional extra at some point.

I still have big plans somewhat related to this, though.

I am pretty sure that you can enable the holsters/belts/hats by editing the right hashes for each ped.

It would look good if thats what you like, however there would be no voice lines that the police officers use, you'd be pretty much mute the entire time. I think this would be good as an extra feature later on, for people who want to do it that way. I am however interested in what Sam said about possibly changing the way going on duty works, I think that would be cool to have things mixed up a bit.

I may have missed this (although when I searched "multiplayer", I didn't find the answer I wanted), but if/when LSPD:FR becomes available for multiplayer sessions, will you be able to use your current online head/model with the cop outfit (similar to the Prison Job - Station setup mission & Pacific Standard Heist)? I saved it for my PS4, but forgot to transfer it over to the PC and lost it forever.

At the moment, LSPDFR is developed for Singleplayer only. We'll let you know sooner or later how choosing a character in Singleplayer will work.

For now, Online is a distant thing (I think).

Please keep in mind that at this point we simply can't confirm or deny anything, simply because we don't know yet. It's been three weeks since release!

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

First of all a big thanks to the dev. team for creating this awesome mod!! :D
You guys keep up the good work!

Secondly my idea for an feature (it might be impossible to do) would be to make use
of the character switch thingy so that you could switch between all three branches of emergency response.
That would be awesome! But switching between three different branches of police would also be awesome!

Again, thanks for this awesome mod, and great community!

Well here's one thing I can confirm.... You guys are awesome!!! Keep up the great work, take your time, and most of all have fun while you do what you do.... Danke

Considering people have been getting online-bans for even the slightest modifications intended for single-player only, Online is most likely a very distant thing unfortunately.

Also LSPDFR isn't progressing fast enough, hurry hurry >_>
