Synapt got a reaction from HiluxHelix in LSPDFR Announcement + Preview
To apply some emphasis on this, it's worth noting the issue where the bans lie apparently come from the fact GTA:O can't tell the difference between what might be intended for single-player loading only, all it sees is the .dll injection stuff and basically goes "Well this doesn't pass integrity".
TL;DR: Before playing GTA:O make sure you remove all mod files from the GTA:V directories.

Considering people have been getting online-bans for even the slightest modifications intended for single-player only, Online is most likely a very distant thing unfortunately.
Also LSPDFR isn't progressing fast enough, hurry hurry >_>

Synapt got a reaction from OblongGaming in What do you want to see more of in LCPDFR?Well first and foremost I'd love to see more stability.
I'm also with the others in lines of a larger variety of random callouts to accept, one I thought up the other day in comparison to NY is random parking authority callouts (Cause you figure the parking authority staff definitely get the occasional crazy person who just does not wanna accept the tow/ticket).
I'd also love to see Traffic-flow integrated into First Response with some stability, I love the random AI emergency callouts with exception of the fact when I come across them the fire trucks/police cruisers are usually being driven by civilians who trigger a 'Car jacking' call, as the one time I came across a random fire truck with its lights going being driven by civilians, it followed up a few seconds later with several cruisers pulling it over and shooting them, lol.
Also to emphasize with some editing to Asuna's idea, how about a more realistic approach of, rather than people just running when you might pull them out of the car, the occasional car driving off as soon as you step out of vehicle and start approaching. And/or also being able to specifically call for an extra unit if a vehicle might have say, 3+ people in it, etc.

Synapt got a reaction from Takao in Why doesn't the military handle large riotsRealistically we'd still probably only send in the national guard. Ignoring the hilarious improbability of every single city and state police force all trying to coup against the government, counting all city and state police, while they would outnumber our national guard numbers by around 250k, that is assuming every single officer, part time, full time, big city, boondocks, etc, would all turn at the exact same time, all across the US, they still would not have the military equipment, training and assets of the 500~ thousand national guard who could be airdropped around easily.
Technically even the APC's that the city/state police forces get are broken down military ones usually, any actual offensive equipment is usually taken off of them.

Synapt got a reaction from JAM in LCPD First Response 1.0Glad to see 1.0 finally came out (sadly while I was busy with life-things) but you guys really really should drop the 'automatic' installer, I know you guys prob get money from it and I understand that money helps cover costs, but OpenCandy is effectively malware now :(

Synapt got a reaction from Slimory in Spotlight in Car ModMight be nice to have an alternative control with the mouse (seeing as heads turn left/right with the view of the mouse as well), and just have the spotlight 'lock' wherever the mouse had it pointing when you exit a vehicle.
Though this is just me being nitpicky about smoothness :P

Synapt got a reaction from Guru Nathan in Performance CuriousityAs noted in my other post, i5's have no HT, so neg.
And to be honest the whole "Set core affinity" fix has been around for many games since the early 2000's.
Speaking as one of the guys from the America's Army Game project, we had to for many years before our 2.7.0 release, tell people with more than 2 cores, to set their affinity to only two (though back when the game was still pre-2.7, a lot of people had the HT on Pentiums, which was horrible compared to the HT in the Core i*'s), and people on the Pentium HT models we had to tell to set to a single core (because as noted, HT in the P4 was horrid), else the game would perform horribly. Mostly it was due to issues in the Unreal Engine itself, but still, a lot of games simply weren't "Optimized" for more than two cores, and some still aren't. Even with as predominant as 64-bit is starting to push, many game developers still release things in purely 32-bit builds, given with LAA and sometimes DX11 support, you still don't see many with separate 64-bit binary support included...
Edit: It is effectively going on 7 AM here, so I'm gonna finally crash for a bit, lol, be back a bit later.

Synapt got a reaction from Guru Nathan in Performance CuriousityI'm well aware of what a lot of 'overclockers' will claim, but much like you, I've been dealing in comps for a long time and my experience tends to diverge heavily compared to what most people seem to believe (in that you need extra CPU clock to 'handle' a higher end GPU).
And I didn't say the 32-bit + VRAM was bottlenecking, I said it -should- bottleneck far more than this system would (While PAE can give access to the full 4GB of RAM through virtual routing of the CPU, it in itself can be slight overhead in aspects like this).
And while it's -rare- for GTA IV to hit over 2GB of system RAM, it is far from impossible (right this very moment, the game is using 1.6GB exactly in system RAM, and 718MB of the GPU's available RAM). GTA IV is still however, a 32-bit application compile, and even with LAA, will max out at 3GB actual memory space, though I'm not concerned about hitting that really.
You really seem to just be quoting me on stuff I've already pointed out, dunno why, not sure if you're just ignoring half of what I'm saying or breezing through it without understanding, lol.
Long story short, my theory was correct after all, adjusting the affinity to use only two cores solved everything, performance is working pretty much as it should be and I'm no longer having odd rendering bugs as well (eg; alt tabbing out and back in cause the entire world to de-render).
Edit: Though I now seem to be flintstone'ing it, as my feet are protruding through the bottom of the vehicle most of the time, lol

Synapt got a reaction from unr3al in LCPDFR HelperNot even just G17's really, you look anywhere, the large majority of any freely-available apps, whether OSS or not will flat out either say "This is the only place you should download from" or give a list of places 'Authorized'. It's kinda disappointing that people have to react negatively to people looking out for user safety if anything :/
Edit: And if you truly don't wish to continue it then perhaps releasing it's source for others to continue on at least could be useful yes.

Synapt got a reaction from unr3al in LCPDFR HelperI feel like chipping on this as well considering my software development history and the fact I've been amused, as well as disappointed in how people have reacted over that comment and GPM.
I don't think most people realize there's an extremely good and legitimate reason companies/developers do as G17 is, in limiting who/where hosts their files. The reason for this is the fact that so long as the file is hosted here, and places they've "Authorized" is because it lets them keep an eye on the files, and in turn the safety of users, because if you download the mod from a site that they don't know about/didn't authorize (and therefore aren't monitoring), you could be downloading malware of some sort for all anyone knows.
So I think people need to understand rather than think G17 is being silly/restrictive, if anything I think they're most likely looking out for the safety of users and their own reputation by avoiding anyone doing anything malicious with what is obviously a popular mod.

Synapt got a reaction from Olanov in Cops and WeaponsIn all honesty I would prefer the ability to basically select weapons from a trunk or something (perhaps even for those on EFLC, implement some sort of control setup similar to where in those two games you can select weapons from the back of your friends vehicle), rather than use simple native trainer, cause to me at least, it's not simple at all.
I don't mind customizing weapons a bit from the 'basics' and would rather have an LCPD native method of it, something like simple native trainer is a far too overkill method to go at it with imo : P

Synapt got a reaction from Olanov in Illumination ModNo idea where to ask this, but since it's marked as a G17 project, I figure I'll ask here.
So I've been using This mod a bit lately with First Response/ELS, and while it's nice it's pretty limited if you mod vehicles at all it seems. Are there going to be any updates for this ever (As that page I linked says its "Final" already), or at least a way perhaps to let others of us mod it?
Main reason I ask is because I use the LCPD K9 unit in place of the NOOSE cruiser, and the traffic advisory lights and the grill lights obviously are out of place, where as it'd be nice if I'd be able to do something with it so I could actually make it use the effects of ELS on that car, particularly the yellow LED blocks on the actual strobe bar rather than the particle strobes (which tend to flash a bit 'off' the actual strobe bar location).
