I'm against hitting a child. Or anyone for that matter. If you can't control your kid to the point you have to hit them you're a shit parent. No two ways about it. Get better at parenting and maybe you wont ever need to hit them.

Correct, I would recommend that you avoid using anything that is outside of the Mod.API namespace as it will all eventually be made internal and thus prevent you from accessing it. You'll then have to re-write code for things you're making. It's easier to just not bother for the time being and extend when it's available in the API.
And don't forget to check out the github for common and useful code snippets that have been given to you by the keen developers.

LukeD got a reaction from techgamer15 in [CALLING ALL DEVS] Standardisation of API Plugin Colors
A nice idea, but generally speaking there are a few rules that GTA follows, and I personally try to stick as close to GTA blips and LSPDFR blips as possible. Perhaps incorporate this into your list.
    Yellow
    • GTA - Primary objectives, search areas and route guidance.
    • LSPDFR - Primary search areas (prior to accepting a callout)
    Red
    • GTA - Enemies or targets. (they use size to depict vehicles or peds)
    • LSPDFR - Pursuit suspects. (combined with blue for flashing search area of pursuits (I think))
I wouldn't bother with multiple route guidance colours. Stick with yellow if going to a callout, it's cleaner to match GTA imo.
Also seeing as we're discussing colours and how they should be used....
Additional advice on the use of colours (this may be my personal taste here, take with a pinch of salt)
    • Strip notifications of too much colour, highlighting a cop unit number or name is fine but the rest should be the same colour. I recommend using colour to highlight key info. eg. "Dispatch any units available for...?", "Paramedics We're on route standby!" etc. Especially if it's your callout start notification, they should be standardised with LSPDFR's.
    • Try not to go overboard with colours in text overlays either (the subtitles for example). Again use them to highlight key info eg. "Ped", "Witness", "Cop", search the "area" for...
    • Make sure blips correspond with colours used in any text. Eg. "look for the suspect at the place" in which the word suspect would match the blip he has. (this was common from LCPDFR)

And yes, I will be adopting the changes that come about from this thread when I have plenty of time to actively develop my plugins. Damn university sucks the life out of coding and gaming these days :/

This thread will remain pinned and locked and used by moderation and management staff to maintain the API forum section. Please try to avoid pinning too many threads. Instead edit this hub thread with any information you deem relevant. If information is critical (i.e some things Cyan posts) it can be pinned, and added to the hub. Then unpinned later when it is no longer critical. The hub thread will then maintain the link to that thread.

General Guidelines For Using This Forum
Please adhere to these where possible, as they will help to keep the forum clean and useable. Remember that your posts act as information sources to users as well, not just means to get help.
    •  Make use of title tags: [Solved] [Resource] [Guide] [Request] etc (I would recommend putting these at the start of your title)
    •  Make sure your titles are crystal clear, not single words. Remember users may search for similar issues, you wouldn't search Google for "help" and hope one of the 4,890,000,000 results is the one you need.
    •   Always put your log files either as an attachment or copied into a spoiler, similarly code snippets should be placed inside the code tags

Suggesting Content For This Hub Thread
If you have any suggestions for threads, resources or useful links that you think deserve to be highlighted in this thread please PM myself (LukeD) with your suggestion. Make sure you title your PM "API Dev Forum Idea" or similar so I can keep track of them. Alternatively you can direct message or tag me on the discord server mentioned above, please note I only respond to this on desktop however, so replies may be slow.
If you want to send me resources, be considerate of user safety and concerns regarding links.
    •  Don't post advertising or shortened URL's, I want a full link to the resource that I can read.
    •  Do give me a brief description of what you're sending, not just "hey this is useful".
    •  Do provide reasons for why you think it's needed in the hub thread. The more you justify it the better.
In cases where you link a post or thread to me, I will parse that post for direct links. If I can avoid bouncing users around the forum I will. For example the discord server link above was taken out of Stealth22's post. Posts may then be subject to removal if necessary.
I will credit all links where applicable, all I'm doing is concatenating the information into one thread, credits are deserved for those providing the resources or guides.

This hub thread is an attempt at cutting down the increasing number of pinned threads. Please don't ask for threads to be pinned in this forum section. Only critical, need to know information will be pinned. After a while it will then be moved to this hub when it is no longer critical, but still useful.

This forum section is subject to moderation as per usual. Any thread that is linked in this hub however, will be exempt from the necro posting rules. As they will be acting as pinned threads (which are already exempt).

LukeD got a reaction from TLyukon0901 in HOW TO: Avoid Rockstar Updates
Help GTA V updated and now LSPDFR doesn't work!
With the ever increasing number of threads being made and the number of repeats we all have to make about Rockstar I figured it would be beneficial for you all to have a pinned thread on avoiding updates along with some useful information for you all.
    Important Notices:
This is verified to work with the STEAM edition of GTA V, I cannot verify that it will also work with the RGSC edition, however if users report that it works I will update this thread to suit the requirements.
Do not upload or copy links to downloads containing the backup files, as we do not condone sharing the original game files.
Modding will always be broken by official updates. this is not just a Rockstar thing, this applies to any game that gets a new update. Cities: Skylines for example has native mod support through Steam workshop, but those mods get broken and require updating whenever Colossal Order (the developers) release an update.
Here is what they have to say on the matter:

And here is what Rockstar says on the matter:

So lets take a minute out of our time to not whine, complain, shout at and otherwise slander Rockstar for updating their game just because it slightly inconveniences you. If you had made backups you wouldn't be in any position to need to slander them. We're all getting tired of reading and responding to the same select posts "Rockstar sucks, they released a stupid update I don't care about". Let's just stop. Please?
With that over with, let's get onto....
The Guide Part 1 - Making a Backup:
It's no surprise that the title updates appear to be unavoidable in some regards. On Steam the launcher often forces you to update before you can play, I suspect this is similar for the RGSC edition. But fortunately it's possible to trick Steam (and possibly RGSC) into thinking it has updated, and as such that is the big secret about this guide.
    1) Create a folder in your GTA V directory or in a preferred location (to avoid any possible chance of accidentally removing the files, I recommend making the backup outside of the directory)
    2) Name this folder "GTAVBackup" or something similar so you know EXACTLY what this folder contains.
    3) Take careful note of what patch you are currently on, this is best found via the RagePluginHook.log file, I'll show you what you're looking for:
Scroll down to the bottom of the log (most recent logged activity usually) and then slowly scroll up until you find the beginning of your last modded game session, it will look like this:
    Product Version: 1.0.393.2"
    4) Copy the GTA5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe into the folder you created before (these are both located in the root of your GTA V directory)
    5) Now go into Grand Theft Auto V / update / and copy the update.rpf file into the backup folder.
    6) Congratulations you've just made a backup of the latest patch.

Now how do we stop GTA V updating?...
The Guide Part 2 - Avoiding the Update
Now as I mentioned earlier it is not actually possible to 100% avoid the update. But you can trick Steam and possibly RGSC into thinking it has updated.
    1) Open your GTA V commandline file (called commandline.txt) and add the following to it "-scOfflineOnly" (without the quotes), this will force GTA V to load social club in offline mode (and therefore boot straight into singleplayer) NOTE: You must have loaded GTA V at least once to let it authorise your account before using offline mode.
    2) Let GTA V update. CRAZY!? RIGHT? I know but there is method in the madness. Let it update to the latest patch version.
    3) Here comes the magic, once the game has updated....guess what you do with those files we backed up in part 1? Yes, you replace the new files in your GTA V directory with the ones from your backup folder.
    4) Launch the game and voila you've just gone backwards by a patch version. Your mods should now continue to work fine.

    Keeping Track of Updates
Now that you know how to go backwards by a patch you also know how to manage your game versions. Or do you? You see while mods will all continue to work on the previous patch we will always strive to bring our mods up to date and in line with the latest patches so that you can keep enjoying them. Meaning they soon become outdated.
Keep an eye on all information possible, the main places to go to are:
    • This forum (see the top of the website for important information).
    • GTAForums thread for ScriptHookV (and Alexander Blade's development website)
    • RagePluginHook website
    • Rockstar Games website
Make your backup at the start of a patch when mods are all working again, as this is probably the point you want to go back to when an update occurs. Do not replace your backup files immediately. Only replace them when you KNOW mods work on that patch. And if you have the disk space, feel free to keep multiple backups.

Updated Information! - Reverting Game Version 757 to 678
Special thanks to all users who discovered this, and to MulleDK for the tutorial video that can be found at the top of the home page, or here.
In order to revert this game version you are required to backdate your Social Club Launcher application as well, failure to do so results in "error 16".
Follow the steps of the full guide as per usual, replacing the updated game files with the backed up old version (678). When you try to launch the game now you will received an error 16 launch failure.
    1) Uninstall all traces of the Social Club application
    2) Install the corresponding patch release for the Social Club launcher. This can be found direct from Rockstar's website here http://patches.rockstargames.com/prod/socialclub/Social-Club-v1.1.7.8-Setup.exe
    3) Launch the game and enjoy your mods

LukeD got a reaction from MrKoteJ in [WIP] LSPDFR Chroma - Bringing LSPDFR to your Keyboard
LSPDFR Chroma - Bringing LSPDFR to your Keyboard
    What is LSPDFR Chroma?
LSPDFR Chroma is an ordinary LSPDFR API and RPH plugin, much like one of your favourite callout packs. It aims to link the Chroma SDK and LSPDFR together to bring visual indicators to your keyboard for in game stats and features.
This is currently WIP but several features have already been made. I also recognise this may not be massively popular, nothing like the various mods available on the forums currently. But I am making this entirely for my own entertainment and sharing it for the benefit of anyone else who might enjoy it.
    Current Features
    • F1 - F4 keys indicate the player's current health. Each key represents 1 quarter of the health bar and will switch from green to red if health is lost. In addition to this, when the player's health dips below critical (i.e the last 10%) the four keys will flash red!
    • F5 - F8 keys are your lightbar! That's right, when you switch on your emergency vehicle sirens these keys will flash red and blue in an alternating pattern to indicate your lights are on. Yes this isn't useful, but hey. Flashy colours are fun.
    • D1 - D9 (row of number keys, top of keyboard) are the in game default keys for fast switching to select weapon slots. Each number represents a different slot. With LSPDFR Chroma, the currently active weapon slot key will be highlighted
    • Custom Highlight Keys allow you to set any key on the keyboard to a highlight colour. Making certain keys like the WASD cluster, or specific menu keys like B and N, stand out from the rest of the keyboard. Helping you to remember what keybinds are set!
    • Customisable Colours! It wouldn't be true chroma without letting you set your own colours. Choose a background colour and highlight colour from any combination of RGB values!
    Planned Features
As this is a WIP modification, there are several planned features to improve the functionality, including:
    • Flashing Alert Key Got a callout coming through? The Y key will flash to let you know there is a callout to accept!
    • Player Armour Indicator Health is great, but what about your armour levels? They should be visible too so you know if you're protected or not
    • Vehicle Lights headlights on full beam? Indicators running? For those times when you can't quite tell in game, your keyboard will have you covered.
    • As much customisation as you want! Why stop with just 2 customisable colours? This plugin will let you change everything. Enable or disable features. And even specify where you want those features to show on the keyboard.
    • Developer API will allow plugin developers to integrate lighting features in their plugins.
    • Don't use LSPDFR? An RPH standalone version may be created as well, at current none of the working features use LSPDFR.

    Screenshots...Well...Pictures

    Release Date
As always, it's done when it's done. I won't set a release date because I will only release the plugin when I'm happy it's working well enough.
If you happen to own a chroma keyboard, please let me know which one! I personally have the Blackwidow Chroma. Meaning I have a number pad and 5 extra macro keys. But if you own the Blackwidow X or tournament edition you'll be missing some of these keys!

    Compatible Products
Accurate as of the time of writing this
    Razer Blackwidow Chroma
    Razer Blackwidow X Chroma
    Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition Chroma
Razer Blackwidow X Tournament Edition Chroma
    Razer Deathstalker Chroma*
     Any non-chroma Razer keyboard
    Any non-Razer Keyboard
Any other peripheral device (chroma or not) this is for keyboard effects only.
    * Deathstalker cannot have individual keys lit in the chroma configurator, this plugin may potentially not work as intended. (unconfirmed at this time)
    Notice on other RGB Keyboards
In order for this plugin to work you must have a keyboard that is capable of using the razer chroma sdk. Keyboards that use CUE for example (Corsair Utility Engine) will NOT work. However if that SDK is simple enough to acquire and use I may attempt making this plugin compatible, just know that I will be unable to test it.

Anyway, thanks for viewing. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated :)

LukeD got a reaction from mesaal666 in Wheel Lock / More Control V
It's set to allow controller input as well so long as the plugin detects a controller is plugged in and active. So yes, double tap Y is the same as double tap F on keyboard.
The controls are hardcoded for this so for fast exit it will only ever be double tap F or Y on controller, I could add them to the ini file if people want to change them.
In theory these should all run independently of each other and thus not be a problem, I'll test this when I have more time.

I did release a patch update recently so maybe see if that works for you.
