We've increased the size of member display pictures shown beside posts and other content items.  This ties in with the recent update of display picture images for staff, which we've made consistent throughout the team once again with a new design provided by MichaelV.

While the topic of display pictures is still relevant, we wanted to use the opportunity to ask for feedback regarding the badge themed display pictures in the previous version of the LCPDFR website.  These were lost during the upgrade to IPS Community Suite 4 back in April, and considering how divisive they were (it seemed you either loved them or hated them), we're interested to know if they are missed, and if there would be any demand to bring them back.

In acknowledgement that there were a few problems with the original style, Sniper296 took it upon himself to come up with a number of new designs which could be used instead:

I know @Illusionary was a big fan of those old badges, though. I'm sure he'd love them very much! Hands up don't unfriend :^)

I don't really mind weather they're brought back or not. They do look good though!

IIRC Cyan said that it was their intention to eventually bring it back. I personally don't care either way.

Yeah, it'd be nice, I prefer the first two over the third personally, though as stated in the stricken text, I personally care not whether they make a return - a userpic is a userpic is a userpic, after all.

I think it might be an optimistic idea but the badge designs themselves I'm not too big a fan of.

If they are optional, then I'd have few problems with that. However, I'd prefer an LCPD Style Badge. :)

Uhmmm, don't get me wrong they was nice, and they gave the forum that unique look, it's just they just really obscured the avatars, it's a lot nicer the way they are now with the bigger look.

Badges are, well, umm, actually, a cool idea. However, whose LSPD badges are really ugly. LAPD badges are neat and nice, even LSSD stars are cool as well. But that shape...

I like the freedom of how it is now, and how well my LSSD logo fits in!

I'd prefer to keep it as it is.

If you could get rid of the thin white border around the profile pictures currently, that'd be great.

Although, you could have a ribbon across or just beneath the profile pictures on forum posts and in comments that display the member's rank, with a specific color for each.

@Sam, maybe add a poll? I'd vote no. I never really liked them, and the circles look just fine.
