Just me or was RC2 more stable?

Featured Replies

I don't want to sound all negative with this because I love LCPDFR and you guys have a great forum base but I just want to point out a few things for me personally.

I've played about 30 minutes of LCPDFR 1.0 and it just seems less stable than RC2 .95.

Examples:

Just general alt tabbing out of the game to change my music playing or checking other things on my computer besides the game. My GTA IV will then crash randomly. I'm running vanilla stock 1.0.7.0 GTA IV btw, no ELS or anything all stock as well. (I had to back up to my original vanilla settings since 1.0 wouldn't work with my particular ENB and ELS setup)

Also, my computer is no slouch either, I'm running a 4770k with a  EVGA 660ti 3 gb SC and 16 GB of RAM.,

The default callout timing is really slowwww. I even changed the max wait time to about 60 seconds and it still takes a while to get any calls.

The handcuffing a suspect command seems kinda glitchy at times and performs a bit slow.

I just overall don't see anything new with 1.0 that makes me want to switch to it from RC2.

I think I'm just gonna run RC2 with Braveheart's script mod and use my old settings. Again, no disrespect to LCPDFR and the dev staff, I just don't see the big "wow" factor in the game yet.

I'm still having issues with the lighting mode crashing me out. I've never used ELS and I don't want to start, as Ekalb has some fantastic cars that I've added some of my own custom paintjobs to. I had to make backups as well and run a fresh install of GTA IV just to keep from crashing whenever I'd enter the police station. Then, when I finally got that solved, I start duty in vanilla cars with vanilla peds, I'd go to run LCPDFR's lights and instantly crash.

It's really disappointing, but it's freshly released so give it some time and I'm sure there will be some hotfixes and other such patches that will help turn things around. A lot of users' are posting their logfiles and such, so I'm sure the devs will see a pattern and get it fixed.

To be fair, they've made huge steps in all the right directions by really working with the AI, as that is some hefty code to have to tackle. On top of that, they've added a complex API system that is going to allow better communication of mods like Abraxas' amazing Police Helper with LCPDFR. I'm still very hopeful of this project and I think it'll be fixed up soon enough.

I'm definitely enjoying the changes* I have seen, however, my start definitely was a buggy 1.

2 FATAL errors within LCPDFR script resulting in game crash(shown in LCPDFR log file), and the report of shots fired call I took... it took me about 20 minutes to get to the guy who had spawned inside the wall of a building, through process of spamming 'e' till he surrendered, then running at the wall to try and handcuff him.

I also did definitely notice the lack of callouts(after boosting multiplier to 500 and dragging min to 20s and max to 60s) and I saw no ambient activities at all(even after boosting max to 4, and multiplier to 500.)

But, as many of my issues before in the game were caused from memory leaks, the game seems to be crashing no more than it already was.

Maybe I'm just not taking advantage of all the new features because I read through the user manual and even that didn't really detail the new features that much.

Can someone explain any new features/controls that I should be taking advantage of?

I know of the pursuit help from the AI and such as well as the new callouts and radio chatter, but other than that I don't see anything to entice me from using RC2 with Braveheart script.

Also, I had to look into the lcpdfr config asi folder itself to see the controls (though I assumed most were the same as RC2)

As far as stability goes, my GTA IV crashes more with 1.0 than RC2 with mods, and I'm using vanilla GTA IV with 1.0....

LCPDFR 1.0 from what I've seen:

Includes it's own more reliable, more consistent plate reader

more customization

(soon to be I would assume) considerably more stable

more integration of scripts

what looks like a future live chat when using the police computer(currently shown ingame to be a test)

far more options when dealing with pedestrians, etc

more options in pursuits

And hey, I actually saw an ambulance try to avoid the civ in the crosswalk!

You can all probably look forward to more updates in the future (unless GTA V gets in the way), but a version update and public release needed to be done. It has been a long wait but I think it's well worth it, and it should now be easier to convert over to GTA V if there is indeed a PC release some day.

I don't know, in some ways, I feel it is a MASSIVE improvement. For example, I no longer feel it necessary to mash "E" 50,000 times to get something done, in other words, the game seems way more stable there. Do agree it takes a while to get a call, but it doesn't bother me all that much, as it seems that the callouts are finally behaving and are more diverse (as compared with previous versions.)

In other ways, there does need to be a fix, as I too am suffering from the "Lighting Mode CTD", and am trying to see how I can set up the game to have the Dialogue controls from the previous version. It seems those have Function Keys (F9, F10, etc) to do that, rather than the numpad (Numpad 1,4,7) as the keys. That in itself doesn't necessarily kill the mod, and after a couple tweaks, I'm sure this will become the version most people prefer. Anyone remember the issues folks had with 0.95RC1? I found myself having to use 0.91 until a fix was made.

Yea I expect there will be more updates in the future so I feel kind of bad complaining after the first day of release haha. Just pointing out a few things on my end personally since I thought it was kind of weird it would crash more with the default GTA IV than RC2 with ENB and other mods.

I really like the new radio chatter though as well as the fact that the AI police respond to your calls better with more support. It's definitely a step in the right direction.

It's just you.

I got the new mod. I tried everything i could to get it to work and it either crashed my game, failed to start or sent me an error.

I went right back to 9.5

I think its going to take some time for all the bugs to get sorted out

I'm going to agree with you, though people will probably disagree with me. I tried setting up a multilayer session with three people, 1.0 being the only mod in use. We couldn't last more than two minutes without crashing. I've tried playing around in single player and yet the crashes persist. I guess for some it's working fine, for some it's not working at all.

Well, there is a very clear and very obvious answer. Use 0.95 RC2 or another mod until the issues are sorted in a bugfix release.

The first release of any software programme will always have issues as we can't predict what will happen on every configuration.

A clean install with no other mods will fix a lot of the issues people are having, however.

The only problem I've had with 1.0 is the taser isn't being armed when I press T. Apart from that the mod is a vast improvement to 0.95 RC2. I felt with 0.95 that I was always on thin ice but now everything is very seamless and I'm really enjoying it.

You can change the minimum and maximum times to get a call if you think you're waiting too long.

I think it works for some people, others not so much.

I used the automatic installer and followed all the instructions, installed everything, deleted all the old RC2 0.95 files and folders and installed it. All working fine and only crashed once while using it so far.

I think it appears to be a select unlucky few. Give it time however; there's probably more updates to come to make it more stable.

I could play 0.95 for 2 hours straight with no crashes or lags. 1.0 not only crashes many times within an hour especially when trying to arrest by aiming and pressing E but it also feels LAGGIER(Fps drops etc) for some reason compared to 0.95.

But it is so much better, I was trying to arrest a guy then camera shifted to a hobbo and a black guy near me, they were dealing drugs 2 meters away lol was crowded so they prob didn't see me, i got em both, released the hobbo later, beat the guy up then took him in :D

Multiplayer is tricky, I 've played 0.95 with a friend and we'd pretty much crash all the time, till i decided we'd do things slow, like I'd activate lcpd fr while he would not, so he'd act as my partner, i'd take a few calls or arrest random ppl and he'd stick with me, we'd role play, otherwise if we'd both have it activated and try to pull people over / arrest it'd crash so badly.  The way I've said above lasted us without crashes for a while but in the end it still kept crashing. Might wanna do it like that in 1.0 as well.

im loving the new mod. but its still not working with supersampled aa enbs. and it also doesnt crash . but it does have some conflicts with targeting system, response times(which should be able to be modified), and how the els 7 does not work on controller unless you map it via xpadder.. going back to rc2 for mp because it seems to be unresponsive to ai in mp... sad day for me. and how over hyped video of what you get with 1.0

I agree. 0.95 was more stable.

The only bug (so far) is when I crash when I go to go off duty.

That doesn't bother me at all, it saves me time really.
