(I am aware of the 'Disable comments and full reviews' option, but it can't be used post-upload)
Currently all of my or others plugins' comment section is always obscured by people who leave support questions even though in the pinned comment it's said that they shouldn't do that because it just clutters the comment section with all the quotes. Ofcourse I'd like to help those people but if other people look at the comment section to see what people think before they download they'd have to go through a lot of pages in order to find some useful information.
Maybe add a prompt if they clicked on the "Leave a comment" button that contributors can customize the text that for example says: "Please do not ask for support in the comment section, send me a private message instead"
What sometimes happens is that there is an issue and there have to be a lot of questions to figure out what, why and where the issue occured which again, shows quotes that can take a fifth of the comment page.
I first thought it's a good idea for file owners to be able to remove comments, but that can be abused(e.g. someone stole a file and someone calls them out on it)

DevildrummerX got a reaction from BC DESIGNS in What happened to LSPDFR?I think its more a difference in philosophy. It seems with LSPDFR that the intention is to provide a stable and robust foundation for plugins to build on with the API. In that regard they have done a tremendous job, I also think having to constantly contend of Rockstar's updates breaking shit takes away from what time the Dev team does have to expand the API and add additional foundation features.
I agree that in some ways LCPDR was more complex, but LCPDFR was never as stable as LSPDFR is. I also think that a lot of that complexity was necessary to include in the base mod because it was a crap-shoot to get other modifications to alongside LCPDFR with the terrible port that was GTA IV.

DevildrummerX reacted to Cyan in LSPDFR COMMUNITY IS DYING-I'm confused, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but you waited less than a few hours for a reply to your support thread then posted this?
Either way, we will sometimes reply to novel issues (issues that are actually a bug in LSPDFR). Unfortunately, not a lot people actually have novel issues and their issue is usually installation related, third-party mod related or they broke their mods folder.
That's the reality, really. And by no means am I saying LSPDFR is bug free.
Most problems can be solved by the user themselves by actually just reading their logs. I can understand why there's not a large proportion of people wanting to help out with these threads when they are usually the same issue. The fact people are even willing to take the time out of their days to reply to these threads is much much more than should be expected and speaks volumes for their goodwill.

I am a first responder in a diverse city who has seen all of this first-hand. The United States is a police state.
Police in the United States are, for the most part, completely unaccountable. Police unions have applied pressure to politicians who refuse to criticize or reform them, and prosecutors who need good relationships with police so they rarely prosecute accusations. It is lucky to have a cop fired, let alone charged and convicted. Officers who do face consequences are often times rehired by other departments. Police in the US are famous for brutality, acquisition (legalized theft) of private property, and proven racial disparity in terms of arrests, aggressive policing, use of force, and murder. Justification for police murder is often times based on vague things such as the fear of the officer. Civil rights and First Amendment violations are not terribly uncommon, and rarely have consequences. All of this is perpetuated by a for-profit prison industrial complex, military industrial complex that profits off of police militarization, and an inhumane war on drugs. Cities are spending millions (sometimes billions) of dollars on police budget inflation as social services suffer, with no proven impact on crime.
The protests/rioting you are seeing in the news are a result of ALL of this, in addition to socio-economic conditions created by decades of austerity and exacerbated by an inept response to coronavirus. Currently, we are seeing widespread and disturbing police brutality in every city across the country, with pretty much no signs of accountability. It is a massive escalation of state violence on peaceful protesters. Use of tear gas, rubber bullets, and physical violence is rampant.
Get triggered by this, I don't care. Needs to be heard. Won't be debating, it'll just get shut down anyway.
If you love your country, you must be willing to criticize it.

DevildrummerX reacted to sssneaky in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed? This is exactly why he left. He spent time and energy on these mods and then people like you come along and think it's easy and take it for granted that people create stuff like this for YOUR enjoyment.
You didn't pay anything for this mod or to him specifically so shut your entitled hole up.
It's really no wonder he stopped creating things when you go ahead and say bull shit like this.

DevildrummerX reacted to r.y.a.n in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?Never said it should be used as an incentive. I don't see how community voting would change the narrative of that category. As it stands now, making a mod essential so that other mods depend on is already an incentive.
If the community sees a certain mod as essential then why shouldn't it be given a spot in that category? You aren't giving it the title of essential because the mods author did a great job and has X number of downloads, your giving it that title because the LSPDFR community sees it as essential.
With your current definition really on 3 of those mods should be there.

DevildrummerX reacted to Officer 81 in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?@Sam You need to give Bejoljo's mods a place in the essential section as soon as he's back. He deserves it !
A majority of the current "essential plugins" haven't been updated for a loooong time and are kinda obsolete compared to what we currently have.
That would be a first step into rewarding him for his work.

DevildrummerX reacted to John Longdraw in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?Hey guys, I've never actually commented on any LSPDFR thread, although I believe now is as important a time as ever since we're on the topic of negativity. I completely agree with everyone above's comments about how the negativity is just too harsh, and agree with what Sam said. If the devs of any mod were to give up whenever negative comments stack up, we wouldn't have any mods. I remember when LSPDFR .4 came out, the TERRIBLE criticism the devs got for updating it. I agree, LSPDFR .3 was working great, and when LSPDFR .4 came out it comparably had a few more problems. But I never complained or got mad, because without experimenting and taking the risk of trying, we wouldn't even have new mods or any updates for LSPDFR. Sometimes people will become so selfish that they forget the HUGE FAVOR the devs are doing for us. They don't have to do any of this and you could not have a single thing but the base game to play. But it's because of these peoples devotion and commitment that people like you and me can come home from work or whatever you do everyday and unwind and enjoy GTAV w/LSPDFR. That being said, I couldn't imagine pouring all my free time into something not only for myself but for others to enjoy. To have someone who's only been modding for a week give you a 1 star review and complain because they most likely don't know how to install the mod and now it doesn't work. That would be VERY discouraging. I just feel sorry for these guys. It was said above they work so hard, and all they ask for is appreciation. Instead of appreciation they just get criticism for things people believe should be done differently, or just because they likely have conflicting mods or a bad install and it doesn't work for them. Just a shame. To all those out there who spend their time working hard to ensure we all have a fun time playing GTAV, thank you. I, along with the large majority of others on here, greatly appreciate everything yall do, and your work is very valued. I honestly have been playing GTA since the 3d era, and I have never had as fun an experience with the game as I have playing LSPDFR. All of your hard work is VERY appreciated by almost everyone, it's just a few unappreciative bad apples who complain and ruin it for everyone. I also agree that people under a week, maybe even a month, should not be able to leave reviews because they just don't understand everything that goes into this, and don't realize the damage they're doing by posting the negativity. I'm sorry this turned into a book, but I feel it needed said. Again, thanks devs for everything you do to ensure we all have an enjoyable time playing LSPDFR, from Albo to Beojlio(might have spelled wrong) and others, you guys are truly a Great group of people who work hard to give us a more enjoyable experience. Just my 2 cents.

DevildrummerX reacted to retrocidalTV in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?pleas support the creators of the mods cars and parts equipment it take them a lot of hard work to do any of them its not magic PLEAS DO NOT LEAVE A 1 STAR Review of something you have no clue how to even install right and even if you do install it right that doesn't mean you wont have issues this is the nature of LCPDFR LSPDFR this game was not built for any of these mods and that they even work is amazing just because you dont like that 1 light isnt perfect and leave bad comments or reviews is pretty childish and not needed encourage them tell them well i have a issue here maybe they can fix it maybe you just have to live with it there no magic here Rock star doesn't come in here with dev team and say o lets fix every mod they didn't even want mods and thats why the file system is so completed in this game i been using mods and making YouTube videos for 5 years and i have reinstalled mods 100 thousand times some of it are compatibility with other mods or a issue that could be fixed later on when they figure how to fix or get it to work at the best of there ability
PLEAS TRY TO BE A GOOD PERSON AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS NOT HINDER THEM OR DISCOURAGE THEM OR WE WILL ALL LOSE OUT .

DevildrummerX reacted to FKDZ in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?I think you are approaching this too personally. Not everyone can be as tough skinned as you, or have the energy to put up with it. Also, Bejoljo is pretty much the biggest modder on this platform right now, the amount of complaints, nasty private messages, shitty reviews are much more likely to happen to him.
It's obvious he uses modding as an outlet, a hobby, to have fun and make awesome stuff for a community that loves playing LSPDFR. But once that community starts biting back, even just a tiny bit, it takes the fun out of modding quickly. And yeah.. you might say ''fuck those complainers, I don't care'' but not everyone can put up with that especially when its a hobby and not a job. Tons of people struggle with this.
I don't think its fair to compare him to a ''kid not getting his way''.

DevildrummerX reacted to verony28066 in Still waiting...First of all, im really disappointed that some big names have left and are selling thir mods behind a paywall ( damn muricans and their capitalism). I've always thought that people who make mods, do it in their free time because they like doing it. No one is forcing you... Now all of the sudden y'all are trying to make a living out of "modding". I understand that it takes hours, i've tried making car models myself and i understand that some very very high quality models are behind a paywall, but boycotting the site and deleting all your mods then making them behind a paywall is fucking dumb. Secondly, i dont know what part of "we cant control what happens outside of our site" you guys dont understand... Do you want Sam to take an ar and start hunting people who rip off mods? The only proposals i've seen from you completely go against the nature of lcpdfr.com... From all those years in this community, now you understand that uploading any file to this site makes them PUBLIC????? ANYONE can download that and the staff can do nothing about it. They arent the fbi, cia, interpol, kgb or whatever. If you want to make a living out of your mods, go for it. In conclusion, If you don't want your mods ripped off, go ahead and put them behind a paywall, enjoy making( what, 100 euro a month or smth?) from them. Uploading mods to this site makes them available to everyone and if someone wants to make harm, they will anyway. I advise forgetting all about this and bring back the pleasure of making mods becuase you like doing so and not because you are trying to make 40-50 euro per sale, cuz im sure there are less than 20 people here willing to pay so much fucking money for mods. I understand the hardwork but i think ive made myself clear. Lets bring back the positive vibes in this community. Peace out.
ps. about ezra tho.... never seen his "controversial" post, idk what to think ( so link it to me or send ss)

DevildrummerX reacted to navdata in Still waiting...TL:DR;
Bunch of dudes get triggered after their mods got ripped and outraged at G17 staff for "not protecting their files"
The staff thinks that it is impossible to protect peoples files on a public website
People want to make it private but sam said that its not going to change
(Personally, I think if some modders can't take the risk of file getting stolen on a public website, gtfo and quit modding)

DevildrummerX reacted to zach016 in Still waiting...Man, this thread is a dumpster fire full of ridiculousness.
Having read through the majority of the comments, I have yet to see a single reasonable request of the staff of the website. I have no idea how people expect their work to be made public on any website, and also be protected from theft, etc. You're trying to impose an impossible task upon the staff, of which the only solutions are to not post the content, or to only allow a select list of pre-screened people to download the item (Which is a nonsensical solution for a website of this nature).
The staff hosting the content on your behalf, only makes them responsible in so far as whether the content breaches their own rules, or applicable laws. That's like expecting walmart to prevent people from renting the movies purchased at their store to other people, or from people taking their item purchased on sale from Walmart, and trying to return it for full price at Zellars. The site is a point of distribution, not a content management system on your behalf.
The effort required to circumvent additional security measures, such as requiring a membership, is so laughingly small compared to the effort to rip models/extract source code/etc., that it would only actually serve to hamper legitimate users. I also have no idea what the expectation of people is if they were to actually move to a different site to publicly release their model's. Public by nature means they will be accessible to the very people you wish to be protected from, as they are an unfortunate part of said public.
I also find it funny that content creators here are using the excuse "well, have you ever had your content stolen?", as if that provides any special perspective on the situation. Im in the opposite boat, in that I can't release any of my created content (only skins), because each one borrow's from someone else's work in some capacity, and i respect the author's wishes of the borrowed content. I don't need my content to be stolen, to have the perspective that having content stolen sucks.
Even banning a person becomes an iffy proposition, as different people can have the same username for different applications. Evidence only goes so far to say that a person named billy-joe-bob on discord (As an example) ripped the files, when the same billy-joe-bob on here could be from an entirely different country.
As to the way staff treated "the community", I didn't see the original thread, however this thread really isn't making me sympathize, as reasonableness is quite clearly not a requirement for entry.
