My Police Department (To my understanding)

Featured Replies

Hello, my name is William C. (My last name is confidential) I'm a sophomore at Camden County Technical Schools Glouscter Township Campus. I'm in the Law and Public Safety Program. Due to me still learning law, my credibility can be questioned at times. This is my police department, Waterford Township Police Department, based in my knowledge, from sources like my friend in the PD, a  lieutenant, and archived info.

My police department has an infamous reputation of corruption. This was a bad time, and leads me to believe that there was a lot of crime when my town WAS an industrial town. Over the years when the mob had subsided and was flushed out, my police department was still a bit corrupt but not as much.

I'm Canadian, my local pd gives out free maple syrup.

The L.A.P.D. have a long history of police corruption and police brutality with ownership to the 1991 Rodney King beating and plenty of other charges of police brutality and misconduct! The L.A.P.D. also used to have a history of ties with the local Los Angeles area crime mafias back in the early 1900's. :D

My local sheriff's department in the Maricopa County sheriff, notorious for its racism against Hispanics, as well as owning 2 tanks for some goddamn reason.

but idk

My local pd and sheriff's dept. are super professional.
Our county seat, however, (Sarasota) has an extremely violent and corrupt police force, mostly in the jail system.

First one isn't a tank, it's an APC... probably cost them a lot less than buying a Lenco Bearcat for their SWAT truck (retired from military service and given to the police cause who the hell else should own one?). Not saying I agree with it - I actually think the Bearcat is a lot more efficient :P But it's not a tank.

The second is most certainly a tank... I would hope that that's specifically for use in parades/airshows/attracting attention from kids type of deal..... but... a quick Google search determined that to be a lie...

It would appear the US Military took back that tank and removed them from the list of agencies that can get 'demilled' equipment cause the SO lost nine weapons. Don't know what to even say about that.

I remember hearing that, when Steven Seagal was filming his show with the MCSO, and they used the APC to bust a cockfighting ring, killing a puppy in the process.

Here are some links I dug up-

The second isn't a tank either. It's an M109 self-propelled howitzer (i.e. an artillery piece), and from what I can tell is exclusively used for display and PR (it's not very maneuverable due in part to the decommissioned barrel, and only fits 6 crew; it's really not a useful vehicle for police work).

Well... To contrast with all the corruption, police brutality and racism, I introduce the Metropolitan Police, who also suffered from corruption, racism and police brutality.

It's actually the largest police force in the United Kingdom, responsible for London and Greater London. They've had a very rocky history, even recently allegations of racism have occurred, one of the officers who became the "face of the Met" ended up taking them to court.

However, the Met maintains order over one of the most diverse areas in the world, and daily display bravery, selflessness and dedication to the public they serve. Incidents where our **unarmed** officers have confronted and detained a criminal with a katana, using nothing but an ASP for protection, our unarmed officers who've tackled a gunman, our officers confronted with a machete, as well as many other displays of bravery. I think the Met leads the way, and often shows other police forces what community policing is all about. It shows how all police forces are capable of turning their ugly history around, and become a force for good!

lol You keep your last name "Confidential" but your First name, Town, area you currently study & resident in and your police department... Oh and the class your learning... 10/10 on being smart bud! and @AlexTolle I live in the suburb of KCK (Overland Park, Ks) Love them to death, they got the most shittiest cars but still love 'em!

But what was the point of this?

No clue, Just had someone come onto the forums posting that they're a law student and their local department is corrupt or was corrupt (Probably isn't now, just what everyone says when they get pulled over for "no reason") No clue why we started talking about our own departments... lol
