  • A trailer showcasing animations doesn't make for very good viewing, especially not for a first reveal.  Was it a normal cop chase?  No, every entity involved in the pursuit except the player was spaw

@FinKone maybe you could script this in the future..kinda like ticket time..but a basic intake form or something aha!!!!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, I love ticket time for that reason too

Nothing will feel more immersive than standing Beside a sports car on the great ocean highway in a Los Santos Highway Patrol uniform while a storm goes on in the dead of night, actually filling out a speeding ticket while the lights of your bike flash behind you.

Or in first person, coming in after a DUI stop, LSPD uniform all wet as you walk a drunk suspect who fled from you to the front desk, filling out an arrest report and then hauling his ass to the drunktank for the time being.

Needless to say I'm very excited for LSPDFR, the current cop mods don't reallt tide you over that much for the mean time, they fill the gap just about!

Well as Sam said - they are attempting to make the RageHook Plugin very close to the one form GTA IV in terms of method/syntax so this should make for some what of a easy port over.  As for taking the person into the station, I think that would be possible - however, lately I've just been sitting back, learning some each day about the GTA V engine, and waiting for the strong API that I know the LCPDFR guys will release in due time.  I had some pretty decent scripts that have started growing large (something very similar to Police Orders) but without OpenIV giving me the ability to see the animation names themselves just categorizes - it always feels to break immersion without them , using both the ScriptHookV and the .NET wrapper thats currently out (which... some how always seems to make me frustrated.  I was spoiled by AdvancedHook) can be slow process, so rather then port these works over later, I decided to not make anything until we get our hands on LSPDFR - because I want to make stuff that plugs into and adds onto the LSPDFR experience.  Perhaps I'll do Ticket Time right this time when I port/record it to take into account resizing of screens... lawl.  :D

You'd be surprised how many comments I get about "not wanting to fill out all that crap" - most people seem to skip the lines that said you don't have to.

Really looking forward to the hard work Sam, LMS, and others are putting into this.  I'm happy they are not releasing a lack-luster LSPDFR, or RageHook Plugin - more then happy waiting.

With all due respect, I did not ask for a release date or updates. I was very precise in my wording, and I asked for a list of features that you guys plan on having in the initial release of LSPDFR. Sam has made a post before saying that you guys are pretty set in stone about your ideas. That being said, why can't you tell us? We've been pretty loyal, surely we can be told what ideas you guys have since you already have plans. Sorry if this is just another bother to you guys (Definitley not my intent), and best of luck developing :D

Loyalty unfortunately doesn't buy them anything, keep in mind that they don't receive anything for their work, therefore they don't owe us a thing.
That being said, let's not forget what was mentioned before; The more we want and ask from the dev's, the longer it will take them to release a playable build for us.

Loyalty may not buy them anything, but it means something. There's already a police mod out there that we could all use, but instead we wait. And I'm not asking for much, just a features list which has already been planned out. I'm asking for 5 minutes of their time for a single post. And that post doesn't even need a lot of effort, just for them to type the plans they have. I'm not asking for them to make new ones, just what they have (Can't stress that enough). I'm not asking for much

We'll show off things when we're ready to show them.  I said a few days ago that we didn't want to show too much, primarily because it is pretty cruel to all of you when you see a bunch of screenshots pretty much teasing you.  Yes, I like to do a little bit of teasing, but I don't want to overdo it and shove something that people don't have but desperately want in their faces.  Secondly, I think it is much more exciting when we don't tell absolutely everything about the mod, and finally, as I said before, I'm usually too busy actually doing stuff to put together a video or whatever.  Yes, we could dedicate time to making videos and blogs and such, but that just takes time away from the stuff that really matters right now - the actual development.

Oh yeah, then there's the part where when we do show things, people claim that we're just using the trainer!  Regardless, I'd like to put together another video and maybe release a new batch of screenshots, but other than that, work continues.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

It's probably worth mentioning that the cops put their hands on their gun holster when threatened, usually if the player walks close to a cop. Do you think this animation could be utilized in the future? I think it would be pretty neat just as extra eye candy, before actually drawing your weapon. Just for realism. And the fact that you actually take the gun from your holster now (so to speak) sounds pretty cool

I can't tell you with 100% certainty what is and is not possible since I haven't done any reverse engineering on this game. But with basic coding experience and logic, I can tell you that functions that are already in the game that can be "called" for use are much more likely to appear than things that aren't, especially when it referring to the time it takes to implement them.

*EDIT* Also guys; let G17 focus on getting the core functions of the mod working and without glitches first before we start demanding elaborate features.

Take your time Sam and Co. If we've to wait 2, 6 or 12 months for the release. Then that's it.  I don't know exactly how to express what i mean in english. Hope you know what i mean.

Yeah, Sam already replied and said it would be a feature.

Honestly, I'm just happy enough to hear that they are working on LSPDFR. I did not expect it this quickly. I think I'm more excited at the fact that I don't have to drive around on patrol, fretting I might crash at any second. :P

No, but you are asking for precisely what we tell you not to ask for, updates. What we've released so far is what we have in this thread and over on; http://www.lcpdfr.com/lspdfr/

I wouldn't say that I'm asking for updates. Although I'm pretty sure I misread that warning. I thought asking for updates would be like asking how far done it is (I somewhat disagree with that whole warning. I mean, I understand the not asking for release dates because you don't really know when it will be done enough for a release. But not asking for updates doesn't really make sense to me. I we can't ask, what's the point of this thread?). However I can tell you don't want me asking so I'll stop. Sorry for any inconveniences

I wouldn't say that it would be teasing to tell us some features... I kinda see it as teasing not to tell us, especially since you already know. Plus, this forum subcategory is called Updates and Information under the category LSPD First Response. I just figured that I could get updates on a subcategory made for updates. But that's just my opinion. While I disagree with not telling us some stuff, I can respect your decision. That being said, I'll just wait for the release. Sorry again for any inconveniences, and best of luck developing :D

Before features can be talked about, the developers need to know what's possible first, and mod developers of every type are still figuring that out right now, so it's way too early to get into that. As far as asking for updates, again; it's too early on, and if I were a developer, I wouldn't be willing to give people an instruction by instruction update of my coding. Settle down for a bit and continue with LCPDFR in the mean time. I assure you the developers are just as excited to re-create what they did with LCPDFR if not more so.

I understand that they don't know what's possible, it's just frustrating when a developer says that they have plans and don't tell us the plans. Plus they've already stated that a lot is possible with the Rage plugin hook. And I was never asking for details, I precisely asked for a broad guess at what will be there at the release. But I'm done asking for the developers sake. I'd hate to annoy them, since they're working so hard for us

So much respect for all of you all. Take your time and make this modification blow LCPDFR out of the water.

Yea thats the main thing people don't just get.  If they say the first version will have arresting in it - but they haven't found the animation names for arresting, and its not there - then they will be burned at the stakes.  Arresting was more or less used as a simple example.  There is no telling what will make it into the first release - so there is no point in talking about it honestly.  Agree with' ya.

We better let them do their job, because if we want a good mod, we have to wait some time. They can release it even right now, but I'm pretty that nobody wants a totally bugged up mod, freezing when you arrest someone and crashing when you arrive at the crime scene.Lets give them the time they need to release something really good, instead of asking and pissing them off with the ETA and what's new."You better have money and don't know about the existence of burgers instead of not having money but looking at everybody, how do they eat their burger".

I know that they can't really guarantee anything, but I didn't ask for guarantees. I asked for a broad guess. I wouldn't have cared if it made it to the release or not. Maybe I should've been more detailed as to what I wanted when I first asked, but it's kinda too late now. I was also under the impression that they had a lot done by the way the developers posted on this thread (Things like Sam doesn't sleep and whatnot), but it seems that I'm wrong on that one. I would love it if the developers recently posted updates here, but for now I'll just have to wait

If they gave you a guess and it was wrong, then there would be a ton of people complaining that it wasn't in the release. You might not care if a guess they make makes it in or not, but a lot of people would get mad over that sort of thing. While it is nice to have info and updates, it's better in my opinion to wait for the release, and then find out about everything all at once.

You say that like we crawled under a rock and never came back out immediately after announcing LSPDFR!  I've been answering many questions throughout this topic and I put out a bunch of screenshots at the start of last week.  There will be more to follow very shortly.
