• i wish R* would do the same thing Bethesda does. Support the modding community with official SDK's and what not. Don't really understand why they don't do it. Well okay yeah 'GTA Online' would prolly

 • Meh, no real surprise here. GTA IV has DRM too, and we were able to mod it. GTA IV has no modding support, and we can still mod it. Virtually no game has "modding support".    We won't know until th

 • And this is the reason we can't have nice things, and instead get DRM-locked games and crappy ports.

That was your choice. You didn't have to buy it twice. If you only wanted the PC version, then you could have waited for that. Instead you decided to buy it. Rockstar isn't forcing you to purchase it multiple times, and it's not like they are going to make it free on PC.

I've grown quite tired of this argument. First off Rockstar should release their PC versions simultaneously, like every one else. And secondly they never should have released their next gen version at the same times the new consoles arrived. The game came out like 2 months before they launched. So why werent they working on a next gen version this whole time?

They release crappy PC ports because PC is an afterthought to them, after they have pumped us dry on their consoles they figure everyone will pirate the PC version so whats the point in putting effort into it.

And the worst part is Rockstar hasnt offered us any discount or anything on the next gen or PC version. All they give us is in game currency..how is that going to help me pay for the game???

Ubisoft doesnt do this and it works out just fine Watchdogs runs fine on the PC and they were nice enough to release the PC version the same time as the consoles.

I have no problem paying for games, because i support the developers. However Rockstar has completely thrown fan loyalty out the window on this one, and it has changed my view of their true intentions.

You don't need to worry people. The Denouvi (or whatever it's called) people said they had nothing to do with GTA V, they only were involved with R* for IV.

Obviously you have no clue how game development works. It isn't just typing in /creategame and then releasing it. They couldn't release the XboxOne and PS4 version when they came out because the game wasn't yet developed for those consoles. GTA V had been in development since the release of GTA IV, they weren't even thinking of next gen when they started. They were focused on finishing the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions before they moved on to the next gen. If they had released it on all consoles at the same time, there would have been what is called "console parity" meaning the game looks the same on every console. They did it this way so that they can make improved versions of the game for the more powerful systems.

I actually applaud Rockstar for doing it like this. They took the extra time to learn how much the new systems can handle, and are making the game look as best as possible. I'm fine with the PC version being released later because it will also have the improved graphics and gameplay. Hopefully the PC version being delayed to January means it will actually be a decent port.

"Work and ideas get stolen, then you keep moving on doing your thing."

You can instead as why those who pirates are so selfish and force the developers to do this.

You  obviously have bias on this issue, Rockstar is the only developer that treats its PC fans like second class gamers. I can promise you that i have bought every single GTA game i have owned because i love the games and want to support this genre. However, i dont think its fair to make us wait a year or more just to ensure they get every last penny out of their game.

Piracy just like theft and robbery will always happen thats just the way of the world but i think Developers have really taken the wrong approach to the issue. Not releasing or putting PC versions on the back burner just makes the problem worse. Why should i pay for the PC version when you didnt even care about making it and it probably doesnt even run well.

Piracy is not the biggest threat to PC gaming, as you can see many exclusive PC games are thriving and making profit just well.  Its the way Developers have basically thrown the PC to the wayside for whatever reason. If they actually give the same treatment to PC versions people would want to buy them in the first place.

I personally love PC gaming, but some people like consoles and that is perfectly fine, but why is my preference less significant than theirs????

Oh no im more than pleased with what they have done with the the next gen versions and i understand that doing this way basically gave them the opportunity to make the best possible version of the game. And because of this the PC version will be the best one to date. I think this will be the best GTA because of the unique console cycle.

All im saying is they should have given those that bought the previous gen game some kind of discount or better incentive to purchase the next gen. I think the same goes for the PC version, it just looks bad.

I don't think any developer would do that, considering they're pretty much 2 different versions now. And as Will said, you never had to buy the previous versions.

I see where you are coming from, but nothing is going to stop them. Simply wasting the money to put in a security barrier that will be broken in less than a year is pointless.

If it wont stop them, then it wont stop the developers for at least trying.

Who cares? I for one am going to enjoy every second of the game, even though I've already played it on the Xbox 360. The next gen version's graphic update and FPS mode is going to make a whole new experience for me. I'm sure by the time people are able to mod the game, I'll still be enjoying the game... and GTA4.

Good point. But I was and still am looking forward to GTA V mods. The only reason I bought GTA IV was for LCPDFR.

Heck even so, the game is still worth buying it just with first person and amazing graphics alone for that amazing experience now GTA IV thats a different story.....

My PROFILE

I for one, can say, people WILL crack it no matter what R* does. Not sure about modding though. Could happen. Could not. Who knows?

Here's my concern. While we will undoubtedly be able to mod this game.... Will it end up like GTA IV? Crashing every ten minutes, forcing me to limit myself to 1 mod at a time, which still crashes lol. I'm sure GTA V will be a better port than IV, but the fact that there is still no modding support makes me worried that when it is modded, it will freak out and break itself like GTA IV. But maybe I'm just being a negative Nancy. LSPDFR WOOOOO!!!!

-Proud Texan-

I might be mistaken, but I think that the structure of GTA V is almost the same as of GTA IV. Hell, OpenIV can open GTA V archives already. That's why I don't think it is going to be a huge problem to mod it.

For car mods, all we will have to do is simply convert them to GTA V format. That being said, we will need a new modeling program to open GTA V models.

However, it might be harder for scripts, as we will have to wait for scripthooks and who knows what sort of security will be there to prevent such hooks (keep in mind that those safeguards are there to prevent hacks, but hooks work on the same principle).
