Nightwater reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.3 - Hot PursuitThis is the fifth part of our LSPDFR 0.3 preview series. For more information about the background behind 0.3, check out the previous installments here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/forum/880-news-updates/
While we've already added an amazing amount of cool new features to 0.3, an update to LSPDFR, or even LCPDFR, wouldn't truly be an update without some further refinement of the pursuit system. It is, in many ways, one of the largest and most important parts of the modification and with 0.3, we've been taking the time to make a number of small but noticeable improvements. From more cautious cops to more daring suspects, we think you'll really enjoy pursuits in 0.3.
And in a refreshing change - I think for this update, we'll let the pictures do the talking...
Allow me to quickly note as well. No, we don't have a release date for 0.3. Releasing a new version of LSPDFR is actually quite the mammoth of a task - one that you can't simply put a date on. We're putting out these previews as it is something that the majority of our fans asked for, and it gives us a great opportunity to get feedback on the modification as we develop it.
Will your game be rocking LSPDFR 0.3 soon? Absolutely, but we're not quite ready to define exactly when that will be.

Nightwater reacted to F5544 in Zmodeler import exporter released!maybe an idea. make the police cars with one template. so that modders all have the same skin layout. that would be easier for skin modders.
release a standard version of every copcar unlocked with template and then we can mod those.
because now will everybody make there own template layout.

Nightwater reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.2 - Stun Guns & MoreThis is the final part of our LSPDFR 0.2 preview series. For more information about the changes we're making with 0.2, take a look at the previous installments in this series, found here:: http://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/forum/880-news-updates/
LSPDFR 0.2 not only goes some way in addressing a lot of the feedback we received as far as features were concerned, but it also includes a large number of fixes for issues reported to us. A full list of these fixes will be published with the release, although among the things we sorted out are many of the frustrations people had with arresting, as well as traffic stop suspects reversing into players and the problems with detecting vehicles for traffic stops.
Aside from these fixes and the features we've already covered, there's still more to talk about. One of the big things that we saw people wanted was the return of the stun gun. Thankfully, with the inclusion of a stun gun in the game, this was quite an easy task unlike in LCPDFR. LSPDFR 0.2 introduces support for both the player and all AI officers to use stun guns. The AI support has been somewhat improved since LCPDFR 1.1, with more fluid animations and better mechanics in general thanks to the stun gun already being present in the game. Players are also now given a stun gun when going on duty, and we've been experimenting with AI configuration flags to make suspects tougher, so that they don't die after one hit - currently this works for all callout spawned criminals, and we hope to expand it universally.
Stun guns make their return in LSPDFR 0.2, with player and enhanced AI support. Shown is an AI officer drawing his.
One of the other main things that we've been experimenting with in 0.2 is audio. GTA V comes with a massive amount of police related audio which is fantastic, and we're looking to take advantage of this as much as we can. For 0.2, we've introduced a basic version of the Police Scanner seen in LCPDFR 1.1, with a couple of key differences:
The weird clicking noises between sounds have been drastically reduced. More variations of audio lines are present. You will now hear other officers talk on the radio too. Of course, this is still very much an experimental system and we'll be looking to make extensions and improvements in future versions.
As this is the final installment in this update series, instead of promising another article the next day, we'll promise something else: LSPDFR 0.2 - coming very, very soon.

Nightwater reacted to ineseri in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingI don't think sending .EXEs or any other copyrighted Rockstar content on LCPDFR.com is a very good idea.
-
Nightwater reacted to Will in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingI love how everyone is so mad that Rockstar is releasing free content. If it was any other company, you would need a season pass or premium or whatever to get this content. I know those of you that don't play online don't give a shit, but these content updates are actually good. Sure, they temporarily break modding, but even games that support modding do that. Everytime Minecraft is updated, the mods need to be updated. Every time Euro Truck Simulator 2 is updated, the mods need to be updated (well not all mods, but the more complicated ones do). The GTA modding community needs to stop being entitled little pricks.

Nightwater reacted to c13 in Obama restricts military-type gear police can haveTo quote CNN
Therefore, almost none of what PDs request from the 1033 program. They will still be able to get MRAPs, handguns, M4s/M16s, shotguns, optics and a majority of other miscellaneous equipment.
The only thing I could see being an issue for PDs are grenade launchers, since those can fire non-lethal grenades (tear gas, stingballs) that are often used by SWAT teams. But those can still be bought by police from the manufacturer.

"Rather than ensure that our law enforcement officers' are much better equipped than criminals, let's limit their use of equipment; potentially decreasing the capabilities of law enforcement."
Brilliant idea Mr. President.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/19/us/politics/obama-to-limit-military-style-equipment-for-police-forces.html
So the Obama administration has banned local police from getting certain equipment from the military that used to be available in the 1033 program. Would like to here some of your thoughts. Here's my opinion(that many especially non Americans will disagree with lol)
I personally think it's stupid, like really f***ing stupid. After reading many comments and other people's thoughts on some articles, it seems like only the people who agree with the decision are uninformed in what the tools do, or have a negative perception of the police and their equipment because of the media. Cops are not buying tanks! They are buying and using armored(not armed) vehicles that are simply used as a defensive tool. A think 3-4 months ago, my town's CIRT team(SWAT) was taking shots responding to a barricaded EDP with a rifle. They took some shots from the guy and many of them hit the Bearcat. Had that been an unarmored van, the bullets probably would've sliced through and hit an officer. Tanks are equipped with cannons and automatic turret guns that can take down a buildings, completely opposite to armored vehicles
People think cops are patrolling with M4s, they are not. They are sometimes using a semi-automatic ar15 rifle, that is simply based off the m4 platform. Those guns are easily available to the public(that are allowed), and many do own it. I believe they've also banned grenade launchers. None of the grenades swat use are lethal. It's all less lethal, like smoke and tear gas, and etc. And people get upset and wonder why some sway have military syle uniforms, so what. As long as the patrol officers are not working in camo unis I don't see a problem. I feel like the media and recent riots have made people think the police are just soldiers, when in reality the equipment rarely gets used, and is never used on patrol/everyday policing.
Until I'm seeing cops everywhere patrolling in armed or armored vehicles and having vehicle checkpoints every 10 miles and other shit like that, I'm not believing in this militarization of the police and the police state bs. This decision seemed to made only to appease people. Got that off my chest lol

Nightwater reacted to Luckyx49 in SAPD:FR Has A New NameThat's actually just how they do things, They've been doing it like that since SAPDFR for San Andreas. It's easier than a few people testing and getting the same results. Mass tests are better in the long run and allows for user input, Rather than putting input on a mod that is yet to be released. PBG has always released demo versions of every mod they've worked on.

Nightwater reacted to Tukkan in [WIP] Traffic lights on correct side of roadHey guys,
I just wanted to share some pics of my new project in which I'll try to place traffic lights on the right side of the road, like in US reality.
This is just some kind of demo version, I made it quickly in SNT, just to see if it is possible. And it looks that it is! Vehicles stops normally on the correct side of street, they don't stop under newly placed traffic lights. So do peds.
My second goal is to try remove old traffic lights, just to see, what will happen: whether vehicles and peds will still obey 'traffic rules' or not. And of course placing new traffic lights as 'static', so they won't be needed spawn by SNT.
I just started, so please be patient. I will post my success/failure soon (or I hope so).

Nightwater reacted to Sam in LSPDFR Announcement + PreviewWe're all thrilled to finally announce the development of LSPDFR for GTA V. Everyone here has been working like crazy to make progress with the modification and the website, and we're only just getting started.
We hope that everyone enjoys the little taste of what we have in store with LSPDFR. Feel free to use this topic for speculation, discussion and questions.
On behalf of the entire team,
Sam.

Nightwater reacted to Hastings in No more SAHP, now LSHPI agree with Hystery on this one. Cmon, you really want to see the SAHP, modelled after the CHP, a large organization with 12 thousand employees, cars, helis, SWAT team, represented only by some bikers?) If they are a LSSD division it seems OK for me. Who said everything has to be 100% as IRL.
However we got another logic lapse here: how come LS highway units patrol the counties?
(and how come LS county Sheriff patrols Blaine county... But this is another story)

Nightwater got a reaction from AgentCharles in California Deputies On Leave After BeatingI really hate the pigs mantra. Jeez.
On topic however, this is unfortunate and the police should know more than ever that they are being watched like hawks in society now. This only continues to degrade any positive work being done by officers in the community.
-
Nightwater reacted toDeactivated Memberin California Deputies On Leave After BeatingIt was just plain police brutality. It's like these cops are trying to ruin their image. To be honest here, if he was African-American or black, there'd be much more controversy. The news headlines would read, "White California Sheriff Deputies continuously beat a Black suspect and are put on leave."
