The interactions I've had with cops have been good, not a single negative experience. People don't like cops because they hate being caught doing something wrong. I think the dislike for cops is being dramatized in this thread, it's really not as bad as it's being made out to be.

Here's data from late last year that shows that support for cops has grown.

I don't know anything about it, but usually a new version is released fairly quickly. I hope there's a way to revert my game version, otherwise me and the other people who don't have backups are screwed.

Still waiting it seems. There is probably someone at Rockstar trying to write something, realizing it won't help, and throwing it in the garbage. I imagine there's a cliché garbage can full of crumpled paper in the PR department.

So what about the LSPDFR YouTubers that play this game for a living? Is recording it going to be prosecutable? Will Take-Two actually enforce this rule that modding is apparently "illegal"? I by no means live off of my LSPDFR channel, but Jeff Favignano, Bayareabuggs, Polecat, and Stevethegamer are just a few full time YouTubers that focus on the LSPDFR mod. What does this mean for us content creators?

IF this is bullshit, why would OpenIV comply?  Again, the OpenIV team aren't idiots.  For them to receive some random C&D should have them skeptical and trying to verify its legitimacy.  Seeing as OpenIV has already taken the steps to shut down, whoever contacted them has to have something that shows they are an active employee with T2.  I'm just saying, the OpenIV team wouldn't be so quick to do as instructed unless they genuinely believed in the authenticity.

In regards to the actual letter itself, it does look bullshit.  It looks like someone from the EU who has only been in the US for a month wrote it.  I'm normally not one to freak the fuck out, but the reason folks such as myself are getting so upset is because we have put a lot of time into modding our game.  We have taken a lot of time to personalize the game to how we want it.  My game is fully modded out.  Audio, characters, graphics, cars. I have over 4 DLCs filled with standalone cars.  The very idea of all my modding efforts going out the window enrages me.  I'd be just as mad if Rockstar pushed out an update for a file I didn't have backed up, which ruined my entire game. (Mind you, my normal backup method works flawlessly.  It's when Rockstar randomly updates a different file, such as Steam_API)

Ultimately, most of us here just want to play games how we want to and enjoy it.  The idea that someone is trying to stop us from doing this is what makes most of us so mad.  If we rented the game, I could get behind suing someone who modified it.  In this case, we spent $60 on the game.  It's OUR game now.  Rockstar does ultimately own it, but so do we.  We can do as we please with the game so long as it doesn't infringe upon GTA Online or Rockstar (redistributing).

If this is some gag, good, we can move on in a few days.  If not, goodbye LSPDFR and GTA. I will never be purchasing another GTA title.

I have my skepticism about this information
    1) Who is Alex?
    2) Why are GTA Developers wasting time and money changing files or adding new files, especially because "Gunrunners" was rumored to be the last, or very close to being the last DLC?
    3) Ventertainment has but one follower and 3 reputation. While I'm not saying everyone has to have a gazillion followers to be correct, there is almost no context to this note, and no one knows the person who posted, and even if some do, he isn't a big name creator or content moderator like Cyan, Rappo, or any other reputable person in the community.
    4) Why is Take-Two personally messaging members of the community to notify them of this change? They didn't notify anyone of this supposed C&D (Which I also have doubts about). Why do it now?

What Rockstar and Take2 doesn't realize or care about is that most of us on this forum, and most of the people that mod GTA, only play GTA for the mods.  I previously owned GTA V on PS3.  The SOLE reason I sought after a gaming rig was FOR modding GTA.  If it wasn't for modding, I'd of never bought this game again.

The stupidity is very strong here.  Why try so hard to kill something that brings new experiences and longevity to your game?  Is LSPDFR type gameplay what you wanted GTA to be? Probably not, but you need to fucking ADAPT.  Whether you like it or not, modding will always be a thing.  Get on board with it, or you'll always have a stick up your ass.

Those creating GoFundMe's so OpenIV can afford legal representation: I hope you're all donating a few thousand each.
Take-Two is a multibillion company who most likely have hundreds of lawyers at their disposal. You'd be better of opening your window & throwing your donation into the wind.

People are overreacting. Someone will create something similar within a few weeks. If that gets taken down, someone else will make a new one, if that gets taken down, someone else will make a new one, rinse and repeat. Don't underestimate the power of modders and their determination.

It doesn't have to be as fancy as OpenIV, or as pretty, or as functional. It could be a quick mashup to simply let you install car mods and nothing more.

Of course, I'm not saying that law enforcement is never responsible for a poor community-department relationship. All I'm saying is that it goes both ways. Just as it's not always the community that's at fault, it's not always law enforcement that's at fault either. There are multiple sources of police hatred within the United States based on my observations. Police brutality isn't always the source of hatred towards police but often times is, debatably. Sometimes it's simply ignorance within the community and a lack of respect for authority period among the residents'.

A poor job of parenting leading to senseless actions by immature and naive kids, for example. Kids decide to hit the streets and steal some candy from a corner store. Of course, the kids are caught, the police are called, and charges may (or may not) be filed. After a run-in with law enforcement on such a negative note, do you think those particular kids are going to have a very favorable view of law enforcement in the future? I'd assume not, especially if the involved officers decide to profile the kids in the future. Now the parents are wondering why the police took the situation that serious, or maybe the parents support the police at that point. It can work both ways too. The point being, there are too many variations to a community-law enforcement relationship. You can't just say, "Oh, it's the police's fault". The picture is bigger than that, friend.

That's just a small example of how hatred towards police can simmer within a community. A small incident like that can completely change someone's perspective of the police, even if they are in the wrong for violation of the law. I don't know how you would expect the police to fix that type of relationship. You broke the law, you suffered the consequences, you now dislike the police, and the police are expected to make you like them again somehow?

We don't isolate them, they isolate themselves, as I've said below.
It's not the person that I have an issue with, it's the ideology.

They are isolated because they choose to be isolated. They don't want to assimilate, they want society to accommodate to their ideology, which is incompatible with western civilization. That's not a matter of opinion, that's a nasty fact that people keep denying.

We can't bomb extremism, but we can bomb the breeding ground and "headquarters" of it, thus aiding the end of terror. Bombs may not be the most appropriate course of action, but doing nothing and acting as though the issue doesn't exist is definitely worse.

Anyone that would even consider joining ISIS needs to be exiled, they've got some sort of mental issue altogether if they think that joining ISIS is an OK thing to do.

Yes, because the Police deserve my respect and appreciation. Islam does not. They're the whole reason that I can live my life safe and sound each day without fear of falling victim to a senseless crime. And if I do fall victim to crime, I'm confident that the situation will be resolved in an efficient and timely manner, and that's how everyone should feel about law enforcement. I won't sit by and allow someone to generalize all law enforcement officers based on the actions of a few.

The difference is that the actions of Muslim terrorists are based directly off of their ideology, what they live by on a daily basis. The actions of corrupt police officers are based directly off of their own decision to make a bad choice.

I know plenty about Islam, which is why I've grown to dislike it personally. The less I know about Islam, the more I like it. If I don't Bing verses from Islam.... how else would I know anything about Islam? I'm not going to go spend money on the book, lol. Just because I don't love Islam doesn't make me a bigot "racist"...lol.

You ask me if I know anything about Islam. I ask you, have you ever been deployed to Afghanistan? Iraq? Have you ever witnessed the horror of this in person?

"Fight everyone in the way of Allah and
kill those who disbelieve in Allah."
    Muhammad (Ibn Ishaq 992)

"I will cast terror into the hearts of those who
disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads
and strike off every fingertip of them."
    "Allah"(Quran 8:12)
It doesn't take a college level research project to find the hate ingrained in the ideology.

That's not what I'm saying. Obviously, people are going to reside in areas where the same culture is shared, that's everybody. When these people come into our countries, these refugees, they don't want to assimilate. They want us to accommodate, and that's not how it works. Either you adjust to the nation you're in, or you leave.

Yes, I do have an issue with Islam. The more research I conduct on the religion, the more I want to rid it from the planet. If you were knowledgeable about the religion and its true form, you'd feel similarly.

It may not be the best option, but it's more effective than doing absolutely nothing.

That's not a suggestion exclusive to the Republican Party, friend.

I feel as though we've veered off course here. Someone decided to advance their political agenda in the wake of a horrifying attack by a terrorist, and it triggered me, admittedly. I'll go ahead and end the debate here, as to prevent any sort of issue with moderation.

Do you mind elaborating a little bit on how exactly blaming Islam would make someone a racist? Last I checked, Islam wasn't a race. When you use such a historically important word so loosely, it loses its true value and meaning.
That was an intelligent, amazing, blessed man. I respect what he fought for and his word, but I disagree with this particular quote in reference to terrorism.

I challenge you to ask victims of terrorism how much they love the attacker. Ask them if they forgive the attacker. I guarantee you, off television, you won't get any positive responses. How can I love and forgive a man that rapes, murders, mutilates, burns, hangs, and beheads innocent people? How would I forgive a man that raped my mother? Or burned my wife in a cage? Or beheaded my children in the middle of the street in broad daylight? This isn't a civil rights movement, this is an attack on all of us and what we hold dear to us.

I agree, fight hate with hate, that doesn't solve anything. We need to fight hate with bullets, that's much more effective. I'll show how much I love putting them out of this planet so that people don't have to suffer and fear for their lives. It's ridiculous that children are being targeted. It's cowardly, and it pisses me the hell off. I have no love or forgiveness for terrorists, they need to be put down. They don't deserve to be on this planet, and I'd place money that the parents of the girls that lost their lives would agree.

    Manchester attack protocol:
    1) Islam has nothing to do with terrorism.
    2) The man was a lonewolf.
    3) If you claim otherwise #1 and #2, you're a racist bigot freak.
    4) Post a profile pic on Facebook using the flag of the country where the attack happened as filter.
    5) Hold a march with candles and flowers around the streets with the Muslims living in your city.
    6) Wait for the next attack.
    7) Repeat.

That story is 100% fake. I was very skeptical about this story when it first came out, and what do you know this guy pulls yet another fake story. It's no surprise, he has videos in the past where he makes a "social experiment" but it turns out to be a hoax. Stories like these really make me angry, because it tarnishes the reputation of good respectable mulisms that are out there. Anyways, just thought I'd share some updates to this prankster.
