😀Inspiration (hopefully):
G17 loves😍 LSPDFR and wants it to be released--even more than we do. They want it to be as perfect as it can be--even more than we do.

They are [probably 😉] not withholding a release (or an exact release date)for the joy of watching us writhe around on the forums in "agony"--but I'm sure they appreciate the love their project receives, even if it might be expressed in a less than desirable way.

Need something to help pass the time and take the edge off? Start creating a back story and persona for your new character:

• Name, age, gender, etc.
• Why did he or she become a cop in Los Santos/Blaine County? Was he a native? Did she move there later in her childhood/ life?
• Patrol cop or undercover?
• Preferred style of uniform? (Formal, Class C, street clothes, bike cop [motor or pedal?] etc.)
• What type of unit will he drive the most?
• Will she prefer a sidearm or a heavier weapon?
• Which area/jurisdiction will she focus on for most of her career and why?
• Will he spend the majority of his time working traffic infractions (there's something to be said for a relaxing evening of ticketing illegally parked cars or running radar) and looking for warrants. Or will she be passionate about stopping drug traffic, gang activity, or stopping fights and petty crimes around town--what will be his specialty? 
• What style of enforcement will your character have--strictly "by the book," heavy handed--quick to strike, or even a bit unstable?
• Will he or she have a certain hobby in the world to pass the time? (At the range practicing? Bowling (*shudder* sorry GTAIV memories creep in)?)

Sure this is just role-play but hey it's an open world and your imagination adds loads to this game.

So who knows what we will all do or how it will work out? We will!

Sooner than we realize this whole waiting game will be a silly memory so don't go crazy while we wait, it's almost over.  If we can respect each other and remember not to let our excitement and anxiousness turn to frustration that we then use to lash out at each other, the last few days--however many they may be--can be enjoyable.

Of course and I'm not disputing that but if the intention was to delay as long as possible (assuming that's what they're doing) so people keep checking in to make money from ads, why not just put a price tag on the game? 

 

And I know some people wont like that because they dont want to pay for it but if its wait vs pay, I'd pay all day long.

Nobody is making you guys check the website repeatedly, that's on you. You could just as easily do other things and check back March 1st, I assure you that your life will not be ruined.

I think it's a bit of a winwinlose situation. They are hyping up everyone on here for 0.4, earning money from their ad revenue along the way.

If 0.4 is indeed as good as they say it'll be, it's a big win for everyone, they earned money and we get satisfaction because of the hype that's been building up, will get fulfilled completely. If the hype is greater than the quality of 0.4, it's a loss for them, dissapointing people who might not feel like playing lspdfr all that much, thus visiting this site less, causing them to lose ad revenue.

 

I support their side if our assumption were to be correct.

Another option might be them working their asses off right now to put the finishing touches on 0.4 and knowing they'll certainly be done by the 28th, but it might be earlier on too

I've never once heard someone say "Oh man I'm glad it's coming out in the next few weeks instead of now so I can get pumped up for it."

No, that's on the developers for being ambiguous with the release date for a game we want to play. Similar to every game I've ever been waiting for due to pre-mature release estimations or ambiguous release dates and a great example is:

 

Mount and blade bannerlord.

Genuinely shocked by some of the replies on here.

It's a FREE mod, the guys (and girls?) working on it have day jobs, and they've stated it's going to be amazing, so releasing something that doesn't meet the hype would be counter intuitive. Those spamming the thread screaming for a release date would surely be first to complain should 0.4 be released and it turn out to be full of bugs. 

Just be patient, if it takes another few days, weeks or months, the wait should be worth it.

The thread blew up a bit and not entirely in the right direction I won't quote as there's far too many posts.

 

The development team work hard, for free, to put something they've spent time on out there for us to play. For all I care they can announce a date in the coming century for release. The reason in my eyes that they have given a timeframe is to get the community to a place where they can enjoy the new features of the mod after having waited a little whole for them to appreciate them more. But more importantly it allows the dev team, in fact no calling them a dev team dehumanises the guys working on this and makes it seem like it's their job, more time to make changes and fixes if something's not up to their standards and to avoid disappointment if they miss a fixed date. 

 

We have to remember that as excited as we are, and believe me I'm excited too, these are people who wake up in the morning and do this essentially free of charge.

 

Whilst you're 100% free to share your thoughts on the matter of a release date, bear the above in mind before drawing a conclusion as if the guys were faceless entities at some large company.

While we all patiently wait for 0.4, what custom agencies do you guys plan on having in your game? I'm looking forward to use small town police departments like Paleto and Sandy Shores as well as custom liveries for the sheriff units based on their area within LS. This is probably my favorite part of the update.
