LSPDFR Future Development

I'm probably going to get bashed on when I say this: is there some way that you can make a version for pirated copies of the game. There are very legitimate reasons why some may not buy the game. Most literally just don't have the money, simple as that, it's not a hate crime, it's just the simple fact of that the person cannot afford the $60 for a game that they'll play a few times a week.

why would they. they are getting permission from rockstar to even do this to begin with so if they did do that rockstar would lose sales and could stop the development of lspdfr in its tracks. they are using the money to keep the servers going.

I completely agree with what your saying, however there are other methods of generating revenue from the people who do not have the money to pay the full price of a game. For an example, radio stations, there could be real-life advertisements built into it, something like Nascar 15' did with the Samsung Galaxy 6.

Gaming is a privilege. If you don't have the money for the game, you shouldn't buy it. You don't expect Rockstar to support a version of their product that other people are giving away for free, so why should you expect people who make content for that game (mods) to support it as well?

It may not be a hate crime to pirate games, but it certainly isn't victim-less. People who make games need money not only for their paychecks, but also to maintain the infrastructure that allows them to create, develop, distribute and support those games. As for Sam and everyone else at G17: they do not condone piracy for fundamental reasons, so don't expect anything.

As for those that argue that "there are people without the money to buy games", I have some tough words for you: too bad. If I didn't have the money to buy games, I certainly wouldn't argue that piracy was a legitimate way to deal with it. I won't judge anyone for pirating games, since that's none of my business, but don't expect people who actually paid for the privilege of using this game and mod are willing to subsidize others' gaming habits with our time.

You made a very good point, actually. Gaming is a privilege, not a right. I don't expect any of you in any community to make something that people who didn't pay for the game can play. Although, some people, including myself at a time, think of people who pirate games, software, etc as a--holes, although many have very innocent stories behind why they pirated a game.

I know it's a very controversial topic and you can't really get it right. While I don't agree with pirating GTA V in general, I do understand people in countries where access to such games is not that easy (or very expensive in relation to average wages). So our decision might not be ultimate.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

I steal jewelry.

I'm not a bad person, it's just that I don't have the money for it.

And in the end it's just rocks...

Strange how people can't afford GTAV but somehow can afford a computer to run it...

Considering the game only released on PC 2 months ago I thought it was impossible to expect the same amount of progress which took years in GTA 4 to appear in that short amount of time with barely any knowledge of the code for 5. Expecting all that and more in such a short time span is ridiculous.. Over time, absolutely the game has huge potential... But 2 months. This sorta thing needs more realistic expectations.

Expectation is a manageable entity achieved through good communication.

I don't think it was ridiculous to expect something on par with LCPDFR because I for one had no idea how long it took them to get all the features into it. Given that it was reported by the staff here that GTAV was much easier to work with from a modding point of view, on that basis it's not a difficult to imagine (as a non programmer) that some things that were difficult and lengthy to implement in LCPDFR were much easier to implement in LSPDFR. Most of us had no idea.

My point is, expectations were high for a reason and those expectations could have been managed with better communication. If the dev team had come out earlier and said something along the lines of 'guys, the 1st release won't include pedestrian interactions' etc etc instead of all the cloak and dagger mystery, then people's expectations would have been much lower.

Now you can say it's ridiculous, but the doesn't alter the fact that expectations were high.

Maybe i'm missing something, but is there any form of blog or area we can see whats being worked on, or like some sort of developer blog?

I don't really have the time to blog about what I'm doing currently, sorry.

@Officer Bonds: People are just spoiled. LCPDFR has undergone 6 years of development. Plus, times have changed for the team as well, most of us have jobs now and no longer attend school/university with immense freetime.

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

I'm not complaining don't worry, maybe I worded it wrong, more just an update every month or week, telling everybody what's been worked on, not some big web page of who's working on what.

For example:

"We've been working on the following:

- Bug fixs

- Blah

- Blaah"

If you've seen the dayz status reports, more or less like that, giving a short little update letting people know whats going on, transparency is always good.

Hi Sam and he rest of the development team,

I only started playing LCPDFR a few months before GTAV was released for PC and I am happy to see how quickly you guys were able to put together the base features for this mod.  I found LCPDFR through YouTube (mainly Jeff Faviagino)  and instantly started playing this mod.  As for features to LSPDFR I was wondering if you guys could add stuff like a repair vehicle area at the station so I dont have to go on and off duty to fix my cruiser.  Or if its possible would you guys be able to unlock all police cars?  This would make it so the player dosent have to smash a window every time they want a new one.  As for shoot-outs maybe for an early stage you guys could start with in game gang attack events as callouts and further develop them from there.  However Im not sure if thats possible, just a suggestion for a starting point.

Also I know traffic stops are very basic right now but there is a small YouTuber, Finkone Finney, that has developed a basic liscense plate look up script that grabs the actual plate number and spits out a random name and infraction is there is any.  He said he hopes to release his scripts later this week so maybe you can use those as a starting point for adding functionality to pull overs.  Finkone has some other small scripts like tow truck and EMS and I think would be cool to include in the LSPDFR package so mods dont conflict and crash the game like in GTAIV.

Just some ideas.

Anyway Good job guys and keep up the good work!

Blankdeck I agree with you that there should be some place to repair your patrol car in the future but just so you know you can open the console in ragehook by pressing f4 and type "repair" (minus the quotes) to repair your current vehicle.  Hopefully this helps you out in the meantime.

Also for those asking for a prisoner transport feature, there is a way you can sort of do this within the current version.  You can call for backup and once the car arrives walk the arrested npc over to the backup car and press f.  Your character should open the rear door of the car but not get inside it.  After a few seconds the npc should get into the backup's car and sit there.  Eventually the backup officers will return to their vehicle and drive off.  Make sure you use code 2 or code 3 when doing this though as pursuit backup might not go to your location. I know its not a dedicated feature but maybe it can work for some people until the devs figure something out.

Currently, I think that the mod has already more options for the player then LCPDFR had. Arresting suspects at the same time goes seamless, and you can put them both in your car or by putting them in another car which you can call from the backup menu. The 3 callouts that are already in-game lay down a framework for further callouts and or an API for developers to play around with. I'm getting really frustrated and enervated when I see people commenting that LSPDFR has almost no callouts compared to LCPDFR, although it is still in beta. I'm sure we will all be pleased with further updates and even more possiblities than we've ever seen before. Just my two cents here.

Did someone say countdown?

is it possible to have gun light on next version? Or do you have a trainer with flashlight on weapons ?

so thank very much to the team for your work

Could you PLEASE created a version of the mod that does not require Rage Hook?

It would help so many people with errors and crashes.

Please please please think about it.

Thanks,

John.

Why is fcking RAGEHOOK ??..... please create it on scripthook or anthing or create RAGEHOOK to pirate versions :D sorry for my bad english

Yeah that's not going to happen.

The developers of LSPDFR are strongly against piracy.

But it would be great for them to create another version for the people having trouble running the mod.

Ultimately the limitations imposed by the RAGE Plugin Hook were not made by any LSPDFR developers.  With LCPDFR, we didn't provide support for people using cracked versions of the game, but it wasn't like they were entirely cut off by complicated systems designed primarily for that.  I don't think it should be the responsibility of anyone in the modding community to enforce Rockstar's intellectual property rights - that should be on Rockstar themselves, so I'm really not quite sure why the RAGE Plugin Hook does so.

As far as multiplayer is concerned, again, I'm not so sure what the point is in trying to stop plugins running online when the problem is already so widespread.  If the RAGE Hook was the only script hook for GTA V, some control over multiplayer scripts would make sense as part of an effort to stop the online portion of the game being entirely destroyed.  Yes, Rockstar themselves should be doing this, but it doesn't hurt for the people that make the tools which enable this sort of thing to do their bit as well.  The problem, though, is that the RAGE Plugin Hook isn't the only way of creating scripts for GTA V, consequently the efforts at preventing online play with scripts are futile as it can easily be done using the other, far more popular, script hooks out there.  If anything it seems like punishing people for using the RAGE Hook, almost a bit like three stores being beside each other - one decides not to sell one product out of protest, the other stores continue selling it, and since everyone just goes to the other stores, the protest is entirely useless.  Importantly, I think it needs to be recognised that there can be very legitimate applications for online scripts, and I'd very much like to see multiplayer support for LSPDFR in the future.

The nice thing about the RAGE Hook though is that it opens up some interesting possibilities not available by using other methods, such as the perfect implementation of lights but no sirens.  There's also some interesting audio functionality in development, including the ability to play specific speech lines, which might prove to be very helpful.  Hopefully through collaboration between LMS and MulleDK19, we can iron out some of the initial problems with it and extend the functionality even further.

This. This all the way. I never played LCPDFR, but I've watched a ton of videos on it. While LCPDFR may have more features now, I bet LSPDFR will be filled up with a ton of new things soon enough, especially when the callout API is released.

Thanks Kharnsjockstrap.  I'm currently playing on a laptop (dell m3800 workstation) because I just bought it for school and I must say it runs GTA pretty well for not being a gaming laptop.  Anyways I was wondering why F4 wouldn't work but for some reason I have to hold down the FN key as well to open it.  Thanks.

Hey guys !

Today I was thinking about those random singleplayer events that sometimes appears as a light blue dot on the map while driving around, some of them involve steals etc.

If possible, adding those events to the mod would be a great feature !
