The buildings and all of this stuff get paid from the R* big money pool (you know they do more than just GTA xD) so you can't really drop that on GTA

What Slimory is referring to is called "overhead" and yes you have to apply it to GTA just like you would with every other game Rockstar makes. They need money to pay the bills and GTA brings in a portion of that money. Of course GTA isn't the only game that pays the bills but it definetly isn't 100% profit either. And remember the cost doesn't just stop after the game is done being made, Rockstar is still going to have to release updates and patches which also takes money.

Oh yeah and slimory: GTA IV PC made R* good money after they put out some patches, don't start throwing around with arguments you can't support.

I'm sure they did make some money after they put out some patches but it still is nothing compared to what they made with the console version. GTAIV broke two records within the first week of its release. Broke the record for sales in a single day and sales in a week. They sold over 18 million copies in one month. Compared to when PC version came out, they sold 2 million copies in a little over a year and that figure includes console and PC versions. Then an additional year later they only sold 5 million copies (again including console versions), so it took them two years to make not even half of what they made in the first month. So the numbers are there and I'm sure Rockstar didn't ignore that.

Now if I'm Rockstar and I see the sales numbers and reviews for the last PC version I made compared to the console numbers and reviews I think I'd rather stop at console and just walk away with a bigger profit rather than putting it into a PC version and risk having the sales blow up in my face.

And yes, I will be buying it for PS3 and possibly Xbox just like I did with IV because I have friends who play it on those consoles.

  • ^^ But how can you buy it if it doesn't come to the PC? :D

  • We don't know, to be honest.  I can see them dropping GTA V PC, simply because they're too lazy to make a proper PC version. Considering how bad the PC version of GTA IV was on it's release (1.0.0.0;

  • If it's not on PC, I'm not getting it - I don't care about how great it looks, or how good the gameplay is. Even though I have a PS3, I never use it for gaming, I use it for a media center.

nope. the whole point of buying this game is so you can mod it. The initial enjoyment out of the stock one is eh.. about 1 hour.

It is being able to add things that keep it relevant years after release, even with all the bugs and limitations

I can't agree with that.

Sure modding is a huge part of the Game and it always will be. And Yes modding makes the game live a lot longer.

The only reason i buy the PC Versions of the Games is modding. But befor that i already played Vanilla on Consoles for a long Time.

But for me..It's more then that. It's about the awesome GTA Universe and the way it keeps expending and changing.

I buy GTA because in every Game there is something that reminds me of the last one. But at the same Time it always brings new Stuff to the GTA Universe. When i play that game, i feel like i'm in an Virtual Parallel world. An Environment that constantly changes...a living and breathing "Thing" :D (Hard to explain without sounding like a complete Nerd xD)

Every GTA Game was a Masterpiece (in my opinion) It's like Waching Star Wars... You don't just care what happens in that One Movie..but what the effects are in the next and in the whole Universe. I played the Vanilla GTA 4 about 200 Hours and i loved it. I just love the Little World R* created with that Franchise.

At the end of the Day everyone has their own reason to buy and Play GTA xD just wanted to tell mine.

Just look San Andreas, would people still be playing it if it wasn't for the big amount of mods it has, and the big modding chances it has?

Most console players probably stopped playing the game at least about 7 year ago.

I would get it on all products (xBox, PS3, PC)

which is why you wont even see it for PC again

ok who here is ready for when they dont release it. oops.

I can't agree with that.

It just depends on the person. I wouldn't do that because of variety of reasons, namely because i never buy the same thing twice and because the missions and all that.. never appeal to me. I didn't finish gta 3, nor did i finish gta4 mission wise. i got bored annoyed and repetative @ 70%. i am currently trying to work through assassins creed 3 but i spend more time chopping any redcoat i see than getting to my next mission. and i skip all cinematics. i think i am at 13%? not even sure where. i spent 2 hours killing redcoats today lol. 0 game progress.

but some people enjoy the scripted storyline (i remember half life in 1998 and its awesome cinematics in game renders. i would replay the intro many times over just for that).

Poor British :D

Yeah like i said.

At the End of the Day we all have our own reason to buy the game. And that is ok. Everyone is diffrent and thats another reason to love Open World Games. They give us the choice of what we want to do.

I'd hate to do it, but if GTA V is not released on PC, I'll have to break down and get a stinkin' console.  Red Dead Redemption almost got me there, GTA V and RDR both not on PC...shame shame shame!!  I'll have to do it I guess so I can play too.

Question:  What the hell happened with PC gaming?  Use to be the only way to game properly was on a PC (still is if you ask me).,,now these sub-par consoles with not so great graphics and game play and totally un-modable platform.  Playing on a TV no less at or less than 1080 resolution!  Nasty shit indeed!  I guess the price gap between a PC that can run a game like GTA IV (V) and RDR at high res costs about $1k for the box alone, and a console costs about $200 must be the sole reason, can't think of another reason.  Too bad...PC's have to bridge that gap and pickup sales to compete.

Anyhow, just don't seem right.

Good day,

DrDetroit

even though it was delayed tell September i still preordered it for my 360 in November lol

As you said, it costs a lot more, you need a bit more knowledge (installing it, possible errors etc) and it takes longer. With a console you put the disk in, and boom you can play, no errors, no graphics/texture loss, bottom line is its less stress and way easier to do. The only thing you are sacrificing are the sweet mods that are available on the PC.
