I don't think PC makes them any money (hardly) cause console version has everything a PC Gamer would have to install manually, though most definetely buying both.

I bought SA for PS2 back in 04

and by the Time they released it for PC i bought it again cause i wanted to mod my game

Same with IV and i know a lot of people who did the same thing.. Basicly that means

70$ for the Console Version that i gave R*

+

40$ for the PC Version..

=

110$ i spend for San Andreas

+

110$ (Same thing with GTA IV)

=

220$ i spend for both games

And if just 1000 People did the same you got

110$ x 1000= 110.000

and if they did it (like i did) with both games you got

110.000 x 2 = 220.000

and this is just for 1000 people :D

  • ^^ But how can you buy it if it doesn't come to the PC? :D

  • We don't know, to be honest.  I can see them dropping GTA V PC, simply because they're too lazy to make a proper PC version. Considering how bad the PC version of GTA IV was on it's release (1.0.0.0;

  • If it's not on PC, I'm not getting it - I don't care about how great it looks, or how good the gameplay is. Even though I have a PS3, I never use it for gaming, I use it for a media center.

Of course I will! GTA IV was the reason why I bought my Xbox 360. I'm more of a PC gamer, but I'm glad I did since I would never have played Red Dead Redemption (one of my favorite games so far) otherwise. So yeah, like most people here, I'll buy both versions if I have to just like I did with IV (I even bought EFLC twice - and TLAD three times).

On a xbox you can only make a game so big before its to big and that amount for to big is pretty small. Think like 2gb is the max for a xbox game, now for PC iv seen it go up to 20 GBs; more game company's are going to computers because they have a bigger space to work with. Also I believe its cheaper because they can just convert easier....

Ya sure console is cheaper but consoles don't last long either. In 5 years I had 4 xboxs all broke ( wasn't my fault either) total cost around $1200 when the 4th one broke I said !@#$ it and got a computer. Total cost of computer up upgrades about $800 and this has lasted me 4 years ( tomorrow =D) It will probably keep going tell a flash flood happens and some how covers my second story house in water.

I won't, I bought GTA IV basically cause I saw LCPDFR videos on youtube, cuz the map was based in NYC, city I wanted to visit back then (now I want to go back haha:P), and modding, and I got SA for some other reason which included modding...

I won't neither get a console; they are expensive, their games are twice expensive than PCs and much, you can do less things in a console, and in the long run is more worthwhile spending that all money in a good PC, than in outdating consoles and their expensive games.

@Darkangel: But developers have to face hardware compatibility issues, which is not a problem on consoles since they're all the same.

Yes thats one con but all the pros for computer limit that con out pretty fast....

i am not a gta iv person how ever i am a lcpdfr person. i have gta iv for ps3 and pc but i bought the pc version for me and the ps3 version for my 2 son's. i will buy the ps3 version but i think gta v is going to be like sleeping dogs for pc you have to buy it and download it. i do not like doing that i wan't to buy it from a store and hold it in my hands that way i can say i own it. pc games are geting hard to get from stores but if you only have people like steam with it no wonder so many people get games for free. the internet market that has high speed cost money and time it may say unlimted high speed but most internet providers slow your speed after some much data. why should i have to buy the game and pay for internet to? i mean if your pc crash's then you have to redownload the game and you truly don't own the game you just have a copy.

yes, in this community, regardless of your little "math lesson" not everyone is going to get PC Version, and i'm sure not everyone is going to get console version, bare in mind not all of this is profit, you still need to pay the DEV's, testers and anyone else that was involved with production, and anyone can afford a $40.00 PC game, 2 console is almost $180.00 AFTER tax, 2 PC version's are worth almost $100.00 less at $40.00 a pop, so that probably work's out to around $90.00, where's the other $90.00? and these are all big titles NONE of which have anything to do with each other, cause you need to put what money that was earned from them into GTAV to have that made, now, you tell me where there is any money left to pay anybody with PC version, the DEV's probably make between $30.00 - $40.00/hr.

-btw, you are welcome for this math lesson which i did not use a calculator for... your dear Slimory

@DarkAngel- I only bought the PC version for the reason strike provided and think about how many people STILL have no idea that GTAIV can be modded, if anything is going help increase PC Version sales, it's modding capabilities such as Police Vehicles and LCPDFR, nothing more, nothing less.

If anything it should be G17 Media selling the PC games.

you are my fav canadian :D

Wait a moment... waaaaaait just a moment eh? This discussion is about the PC Version right?

We are talking about a PC PORT.And (in IV' Case) a very pooly port. You may need a couple of 100.000 $ to port a game. (keep in mind that at this point the game was already finished.. they only need to port it to PC)

soo let's do it again...

If we assume that the Money R* spend to port the ame where set about 500.000$

Now let's assume (i like that word xD) that the PC version was sold just 2.000.000 times (a lot more where sold)

And let's take your 30$ (just profit)...no.. you know what? let's not just cross the line, let's rip it and eat it and say R* just makes 10 bucks per Copy

2.000.000 x 10 (3.000.000 sold Copies and the 10$ that makes R* per sold copy in our Scenario)

=

20,000.000 pure Profit for only the PC Version

thats a gigantic Shitload of Money for almost nothing to do.

(we are talking about real money not Canadian $ :D)

That means that the PC Version of GTA is an easy and profit way for R* to make money...

So it dosn't really matters if people buy it for both PC and Console. At the end of the Day the game will be sold for both the PC and the Console versions...BUT the effort it takes to make a PC Port are much more lower then making the game in the First place for the Consoles.

BUT if just 1000 People (i'm not just talking about the LCPDFR Community.. we are talking about people all over the World and Canada) bought the game twice (for PC and Consoles) you get an even bigger shitload of money :D

that's what i was trying to say in the first place eh? :D

You do know the U.S dollar is worth less then Canadian right? how many wikipedia pages did you search up to get those results'?

out of everything that you just said, that not all of that money is profit, you need to pay for the building and tech that the games are being made with PLUS the up keep of it, i'm looking at the BIG picture, they may make $20,000,000.00 or $20,000.00 but probably HALF of that is profit.

so can you imagine how much the phone bill is up in that bitch?, plus property taxes every year, there is alot of politic's and crap that come before glory.. so maybe you can tell me, if GTA is an easy way for R* to make money, why you need some of the most expensive hardware to run it, can't play it without the machine to run it can you?

See, I'm conflicted. I don't own a PS3 or Xbox 360, so I'd have to have it on PC. To put down the money for a system, as well as a HDTV to make it worthwhile, would cost me hundreds.

Ironically, PC's aren't exactly cheap either. When Crysis was coming out, I knew I needed a new system and upgraded. So I basically paid thousands of dollars to play one game, which will likely be the case this time around because I'm in need of an upgrade. Of course, there's much more to PC gaming than any console could have. Its a shame though, games that don't reach PC that get DLC packs, expansions, etc...

I waited for GTA IV on PC. I will wait patiently again. I believe that they did not put it on PC because of the conflicting sales of Microsoft's Xbox vs PC, and Xbox had received some rights to the game and its expansions before it went to sale, hence the wait for EFLC too. Hopefully we won't have that issue this time around. Rockstar does this with most all of its games. One thing that always bothered me, WHY didn't they put the Red Dead series on PC either?!

It all comes down to money. This game will make millions, and make Take Two and Rockstar's YEAR fiscally. After the record setting first day sales too, I would not be surprised if they take the same course of action. Final note, the game on PC gets illegally downloaded. Without a PC game, kids are forced to buy it for a $60 console game. This deters people from waiting for a torrent to get the game for free via a torrent, and makes the company more $$ in the long run vs a release on PC the same day as the console. Anyone with a PC could consider waiting for the DL. Not that I condone that.

I'm a patient man. I only hope they do a better job porting it this time around. It doesn't have to be stellar, but something more improved. Perhaps pre-orders for the PC will show them how much attention they should give the port. So spread the word to pre-order!

GTA began on PC. I've played it since the first game came out. They wouldn't disrespect their most hardcore, veteran fans by not having a PC version.

i never use wikipedia... i'm T.A.X.I :D

The buildings and all of this stuff get paid from the R* big money pool (you know they do more than just GTA xD) so you can't really drop that on GTA

And even if you right and just half of it is profit.. Thats still a hole lot of money so this point is well...pointless

And so is the rest of your post buddy...R* makes sooo much money every year with Franchises like GTA,Max Payne,Midnight Club and what not.

And what does the hardware have to do with makeing money? :D maybe i need to drink more maple syrup or play some more hockey to understand your point (why can't i stop with that damn xD) :D Thats simply a Problem with poorly working.. R* just fucked the PC Port of GTA IV up..(no excuses here) That has nothing to do with Money. They did a great job with the PC Version of Vice City and San Andreas sooooo

All i was trying to tell ya is:

R* definetly makes good Money with the PC Version... and i'm sure they won't stop it.. the best proof is that ALL (besides of Liberty City Stories,Chinatown Wars,Vice City Stories) where released on PC.. they wouln't do that if they wouldn't make money with it eh?

i mean.. you can't fell a tree if your Axe is made out of Plastic :D

You do know that the Canadian is only worth 0.0079% more than a US dollar?( That's not even a penny) It almost changes every week of what one is worth more. back in June Us dollar was worth about .0187% more.

So 20,000 in Canadian money is only 20,157 US Dollar.

But getting back on topic, they would still lose money if they didn't make it for the PC. The real question is why are they making it for the xbox 360? Most xbox users went to PS3 let me list why.

PS3 has a better Processer, better video, doesn't cost money to play online. More games are coming out for PS3 than xbox now. More options on it ect...

Any who they would lose money in anyway if they didn't make it for PC.....

personaly i still use the xbox for offline and exclusive games.. what i love about the 360 is the ability to play your music in every game.. sounds like a very small thing but for me thats something that i really love specially in games with a lot o driving. And since i don't care about the GTA Multiplayer much i will most likely get it for xbox

but there is no need for PS3/xbox fanboy stuff.. for me.. i love both consoles and they both can't mess with my PC (actually.. they can cause my PC isn't that great but you know what i mean :D)

Well the choice I'd say wasn't up there. Basically no, but won't make them suffer for it.

Basically the reasoning is that I don't have one of those newer consoles (last console I have gotten was the Wii, and for now, that is the plan) you can get on the market these days.

Hopefully this has changed, but when PS3 and XB360 were came out, they also were having a habit of putting out partially completed games and making you pay out the rear end to complete it with "DLC", two games that came into mind for that was one of the Katamari games and Ace Combat 6. You get Payware DLC too with PC games, but you can also add to the game via mods you can get for free if the community is active enough.
