Are you using someone else's valor or have you set up your own? You'll probably have to set up the sirens in Zmodeler and then plan your flash patterns around that.

it depends, this is what oleg told us: each siren part is assigned an id, and the game configuration files will assign the animation. so maybe there is another file who assigns the vehicle part ids and decides which part id does what.

download gta_parts.xml and open it. there are 29 siren id's

Quick question, If the vehicle model is locked(most vehicles out there), is there no way to find the siren setup on said vehicle? Minus spending hours editing one by one and finding it that way.

you can find the setup by looking at openiv model's preview and select and deselect the parts to find each of the siren with each name ....

The method suggested by rekram doesn't work for all vehicles. A fair amount of vehicles only show the equipment, not the "siren"

Can someone confirm for me whether or some siren patterns are restricted or do not work on some models? For example, I installed the North Yankton CVPI to replace policeold2. When I installed the car using the carvariations' siren settings, the car worked fine. However, when I changed the siren settings to '14', the light bar was completely out of whack but the coronas were all blue. I have modded all my calls to have all blue lights / coronoas and this is the first time I ran into this issue.

This is correct. I tried it with Carperino's CVPI and the siren's are invisible.

every model in zmodeler3 has a hierarchy/list of parts, the same with openiv. So when you double click the yft file in openiv to see the preview at the left you have a list of the parts which you can select or deselect any of those and also see the siren meshes that were puttted on it.....so you can see every siren(number) that was chosen for that model....

all private models i did for myself had no problem in openiv while seeing the siren meshes....

OH! WAIT! Haha, that's what this goofy glitch is. I have noticed when I flip I see some random lights way normally underground. I just realized you see them in the editor too and they are the extras. I guess they are meant to not been seen, unless you have an unfortunate accident.

lol....i now know what you mean and what happened.....that method is called: HIDING CORONAS ...lol haha.....i used that method lately.....and yeah...siren meshes are below world/car....so you hardly see them in openiv.......that was the problem :D

Under <flashiness>, the multiples value seems to determine how many times the corona will flash during 1/32 of the whole sequence. For my steady burn lights, I set it to 0, otherwise 2 or 3 should suffice. If you want them to flash faster, up the BPM.

Given that, it should be possible to make a proper traffic advisor! The following flash pattern sequences would give right-to-left, warning/in-out, and left-to-right:

By putting each section of lights into an extra, one could toggle the traffic advisor mode by enabling/disabling extras. Or do all sirens of the same siren number have to be in the same extra? In that case it would require more sirens I suppose. The middle module is always 0011, so that could be a part of the vehicle and not inside of any extra. 

Unfortunately I'm traveling this week so I don't have access to my PC to test this out, but could somebody experiment with this and report back? @Captain14 maybe you can include this in your new Tahoe. I could put together a little script to toggle the traffic advisor mode by switching the appropriate extras.

Traffic advisers are complicated, because there seems to be a hardcoded limit of 20 sirenlights and if you've got 4 going one way, you need 4 going the other. A lightbar typically uses at least 6 sirens, and sacrificing 8 sirens out of the remaining 14 for a clumsy 4-light adviser that requires a trainer to use properly ... there's got to be a better way. And modders are out there figuring it out.

Currently, I don't think models can use more than one siren of the same number, and they sure as hell can't switch sirensettings mid-game. So we're currently "stuck" with one pattern per model. 

Adding yellow lights that don't change pattern, however, is very easy, though it requires a few quick zmod3 edits. I did that to my default Stanier to give it a slow amber wig-wag.

Never say never. You can do a lot when you directly modify the memory addresses... it may indeed be possible to switch sirensettings mid-game someday. 

Anyways, it's only 3 segments not 4, and at the moment I don't see a better way. As I said, I'm not sure the intricacies of sirens and extras, so somebody with more vehicle modeling experience may be able to comment on the practicality of it. For some models I do think it would be worthwhile. Some vehicles are such ridiculous christmas trees, and I'd much rather see a simple but realistic setup with a primary lightbar, a TA, and mirror and grille lights.
