LSPDFR Announcement + Preview

Uhm, guys? Sam? LMS?

There's a new patch for GTA5 which completely disabled mods. So does it block us off from LSPDFR? And does it block you off from developing it? The native trainer and all other scripts don't work anymore. >:( So now I'm afraid that LSPDFR won't work either.

  • A trailer showcasing animations doesn't make for very good viewing, especially not for a first reveal.  Was it a normal cop chase?  No, every entity involved in the pursuit except the player was spaw

Mhm, this does is exist, but only in two locations under entirely scripted circumstances.

Wow, that sounds not too good. Hope you'll find a way for arrests...

It actually didn't disable mods, it just updated some files and now scripthook doesn't work because some stuff moved around. It will probably just take a few days for a scripthook update to release and everything should work again.

We're okay for now.  But, yes, these sorts of things will happen, and it is possible Rockstar will look to prevent modding considering what's happening in GTA Online.

As far as I know the patch isn't intended to disable mods.  Its just when a new version of the game is compiled, things change the code and modders have to accommodate their hooks for these changes.

EDIT:Answered above.

#REHASH UPDATE. ;(

You guys doing ok with fighting this update?  I've saved a backup copy  they seemed to have only updated GTA5.exe, GTA5Launcher.exe, and update.rpf...

I get they are trying to combat cheaters to make people still want to buy them shark cards... but at some point if they keep trying to be "MMO" like, and update hashes often - will you guys ask the community to store a off-line version for play?

Help my channel grow and I can explain to my wife why this addiction to coding is a good thing!

Yeah, if you have update.rpf and the two EXEs, you can use mods.  We do, we're okay.

We've not looked at the update yet.

If Rockstar was planning on outright preventing mods, the game would never have been mod-able in the first place. They knew this was coming.

Also, in one of the trailers there are AI cops arresting peds. Was this just some Rockstar mockup for the trailer or was it an animation at some point? Does it still exist in the game files?

Not sure, but something we'll look into once we can.  Still waiting on the games files to opened up unfortunately.

I'm guessing nobody has ever seen anything like that ingame?

Sincerely hope you'll find a way around. What about issuing tickets, are there any animations for that?

And maybe arm all them with tasers set to zero damage to stop them from killing if the perp is unarmed?

Closest thing I've seen is when you watch that TV star get arrested after that chase, but you said that it wouldn't work like that. That being said, maybe there are some files/animations that never got used. We don't know quite yet.

I am extremely stoked for this..are you guys looking to incorporate the character switch into the mod? like being able to switch from sheriff to city cop to park ranger or something along those lines I think that would create unique gameplay

You just gave me an idea! I don't think it's possible though. So: You're in a pursuit as a sheriff. Then an air unit arrives and maybe some other backup such as an SUV. Imagine being able to switch between the air unit, sheriff and an SUV or something during a pursuit and coordinate tactics if you wanted to! Yep.. that would be unique and insane gameplay. O.o

Out of pure curiosity how long did it take LCPDFR to be released on GTA IV.

I understand it may not have been developed from week 1 of GTA IV but how long was the development process?

I'm quite surprised it took so little time to get some basic functionality in V when the mod has been developed for years on IV. I concur on the idea that the character switch could be implemented in some way; say as an LSPD officer, a suspect flees up the highway, and you have to switch to a sheriff waiting a few miles up the road to continue the chase. That would be amazing, but probably hard to implement.

yes just like that fib heist where you switch characters to do a different task...would be perfect for pursuits

Sadly, no. to my understanding you don't have access to a lot of the games files yet, right? last time I checked stuff like OpenIV still didnt have an edit feature, it's read only and most stuff wont open.

I also never understood why rockstar didn't implement a better "arrest" animation or situation. They were always lazy or stupid with it, for example in gtaiv they would just put their hands up and get in the car, instead of a simple handcuff animation, and maybe even a model for handcuffs. hopefully you can find a way around this, in due time. I think their lack of full modding support is part of the issue, they just kind of threw in what they wanted, and it was something pretty cheap.

Atleast stuff like spikestrips are already in the game, you should be able to put them at roadblocks and I think that would be pretty neat.

Honestly, I don't see any progress or dev releases showing what's been worked on or developed so far...The lspdfr dev page just says general statements relating to animals... I'd like to see a dev page that shows what events and exceptions have been discovered that are usual in GTA V. Also what they are using to load the mod into the game's files. Maybe a list of any cracked model figures or model movements. And don't get me started on the video. I could make that exact video with no mods. It didn't show any progress they've made, a little misleading to me. I realize it's a "trailer" and all. But they could of at least faked some cool upcoming procedures that were going to be in the mod. I'm a little disappointed on the "breaking silence" approach with the way they did it. But hopefully this will be an ongoing project that will be updated for an easier understanding of what is ACTUALLY being developed.

Am I right in thinking that this scene from the trailer is also in the "Underbelly of Paradise" TV show with Steve Haines?  Maybe?  I'll have a look.

If it is, the assets for it should be tucked away somewhere in the game, e.g. I remember in GTA IV the "hood arrest" animation was never used in-game, but was used for the "be a cop" TV commercial.  We can probably look into this once we can look at the animation files (right now we have to guess their names).

I think development started a few weeks before August 5th 2009, when it was first announced with a trailer.  The first version was released on the 27th of August and featured little more than changing into one police model,  spawning a cop car and basic backup/arrest support, plus some other buggy things.

Oh, this is something I've thought of for a while, but I'm not sure how possible it would be to implement (at least as far as making it use the seamless google earth style switching in the game/overriding it)

Nope, we only have access to a few files, and they aren't very helpful.  The big thing will be when OpenIV can open animation files - right now we can only see their set names, not the animations inside them.

Despite this, I made a major breakthrough with the arresting animations today.  More to come, soon :)
