I'm Not Really Into the Liberty City Roleplay

Featured Replies

I can do LAPD, Canadian Police, etc. But I just cant get comfortable with "Liberty City" but its probably because I was using the default LCPD cruisers for too long and got out of the mood and I am obsessed with realism, whats your opinion on LCPD roleplay?

  • No. It might be based off of New York City, but it isn't New York. It's Liberty City. It contains nothing at all that says "New York"; everything says LC. Whatever you do, the game still considers it

  • Still shamelessly using the default cars myself, whoops.   Never used anything but LC though.  No matter if it was an LVMPD car or an NYPD one, they all had NY and LV changed to LC.  It's just wrong

It's the only department that I rp as, and I do not have a problem with any of the vanilla cruisers. I like 'em. I don't want realism, I want it to make sense, if that made any sense.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

I could never do anything *but* LCPD. It's not actually possible to completely change the game from talking about LCPD to talking about someone else, so my hand is somewhat forced in the matter.

Probably the most down to earth person here. I have to admit, I'm caught up in all this 'realism' stuff as well. After stumbling upon ELS videos while trying to find a good police simulator, I love it, and I hated everything about the vanilla cruisers. I just don't like their lighting system, their design (the cruisers look VERY ugly, and they have only changed very slightly in GTA V) and how there are so many better models out there.

SCNG FTW!!

With the default cars? No.

Usually I'll take real department liveries and vehicles and modify them to fit in around GTA IV. For example I'd change the department name to "Dukes Police" or "Liberty County Sheriff's Office", rather than having the real department names.

The only *American* pd I play as is LCPD, or LCSO(I know isn't in the game, but add Country Mountain V(and edit a police station to sit on it) and you get a nice effect). The default cruisers are not bad, I quite enjoy them, but I also enjoy Crown Vics and Chargers.

I don't really role play the best.. I like to veer off the road, into a flight of stairs(train station, hove beach) and kill randoms. What I don't get is why they always scream >-<

Well, GTA IV is set in Liberty City, correct? So the city's police is LCPD, not any other departments. I like to play as a real-world cop on those streets, trying to cause as less harm I can, obey traffic laws, helping citizens and calling for backup when it's obvious a single cop can't do any good.

Yeah,  I do prefer vanilla cars because all those brand-new-high-poly ELS-enabled cars look so out of place to me comparing to the rest of the traffic, and I don't like those bugs with doors and collisions (not trying to diminish the modders' job, they did great). My choice is Ekalb's vehicles with ALM and PoliceHelper.

Lore-friendly LCPD all they way. I could not play with anything else, but I want my game to be as realistic as it's possible while still being in the GTA universe. That's why I've replaced NOOSE with LCPD ESU and so on.

I actually switched from high-poly to lore-friendly, because I switched from desktop to laptop and can't run high-poly.

However, I do still use NOOSE. I just treat it like some kind of JTTF thing, where NOOSE is a federal agency whose LC division is a specially trained detachment of the LCPD.

LCPD here. I made some custom skins, and a "street crimes" skin, based on a local detachment of my local PD.

I do not use ELS. Standard lights paired with the strobes mod looks fantastic. Also, NYPD doesn't have a lot of lights on their cars, and LC is based on that...

So, LCPD, vector lightbars, strobes.

It wouldn't be right to play as LAPD in a city based entirely on NYC. And you talk of realism...

I agree. You can change your car to LAPD, or whatever you'd like, but you'll end up with cops who shout "LCPD" over the radio, buildings, signs, etc all saying LCPD, regardless of what's on the car. You've got that choice - realistic city based cars, or just consider the name "Liberty City" as something real, and enjoy the uniformity across the game.

I've always used real world PDs, or the occasional generic one, with real world cars, only modified to LCPD, LCSD or Alderney State Troopers (Alaska being my favorite one to do this with).

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

I used real cars with the fictional lcpd nypd style liveries I use to do whatever department I felt like but it was never fun doing lapd or local department in a city based off new York so I stuck with vector style cruisers and fbi and noose to unmarked and state trooper I never understood the lapd or any other distinguishable departments being used in liberty city it looks goofy as hell

Exactly. LAPD has no business patrolling the streets of NYC.

Well, not everyone is playing for realism...they might like the way the LAPD looks so they use the cars from the LAPD. Right now I have all London cars in because I wanted to change things up. Each person has their own preference to what mods they want in their game. A lot of people look for vehicles from their home town because it's cool to see the cars you see every day in a video game.

I use New Mexico State Police cars, and the city I 'police' is Liberty City, New Mexico.

I never go with an LCPD theme. I usually go by 1 car mod at a time, so it really doesn't matter. If I go with a theme, I'll usually just pick the cars I want and use the same skins throughout. For example, I used one of Break's skins and modified them to fit other vehicles. It looked really nice.
