How to get ELS v7 to work!

Featured Replies

Ok, so as I have just recently saw, and have fallen victim to myself, if you want to get ELS v7 to work, read this!

I will make this short and to the point...

You will need to put both ELS.asi and ELS.ini inside the root folder for GTAIV. You will also need to put the ELS folder that contains the file default_config.ini inside the root folder of GTAIV. Afteryou have these files inside the root folder of GTAIV, you must open up ELS.ini and change all of the things that say off to on under each car name, this enables ELS for your car(s).

I hope that this has helped those who have been trying to get ELS v7 to work.

Also, if a mod would like to pin this for the time being so that people can get help right away, feel free to do so.

Again, I hope this has helped you all.

  • I will not pin this, since we wouldn't have the problem if the people read the damn guide, that's included with the mod.

  • Yes it does, it just goes into a lot of detail, which is a problem for people that can't read long texts (seems to be common for people on the internet).

I made this topic for people who are to lazy to read through the ReadMe that's included with ELS v7. Only reason I messed up installing this was because I was doing something else and not paying atten

its Control + M instead of Alt + M,  you should read the top of the .ini file I didnt at first once I did everything was clear

Key wise the Guide doesn't need to be read but the file placement.. if you've used ELS v6 nothings changed with installation i kinda don't know why this is a topic but that's just my opinion

Get to the point quickly, thats what people want. We want to be able to use ELS 7 quickly, not go through a long process to get it running

Plus...Why isn't it ON by default? That's what really a lot of people are complaining about.

It's not one by default because not everyone will have ELS cars in every slot. You can enable each ELS enabled car manually; it isn't that hard. If you want to just install and play and not learn how to use it, then use a less sophisticated mod.

"Work and ideas get stolen, then you keep moving on doing your thing."

Well clearly it isn't on by default so that you actually have to set it up correctly so that it works!  I mean come on, use some common sense here.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

It is really simple to activate V7, it is not a long process for people to go into els.ini and change off to on. Some people may not want to have them all activated. Complaining about it is childish and being lazy. Caine worked really hard on this and its the best ELS version I have ever used.

Modifying the config for cars is worth it. It's not a very long process, and the flexibility from each car having its own config is incredible.

What difference would that make?  You'd still have to go into the .ini and turn off the cars that don't have ELS.  Some of us don't mod every single car slot with ELS.

Oh and RTFM!

Good day,

DrDetroit

Just an FYI, for anyone having issues with ELS.

When you modify a new file for lights make sure to save it as an all file type and make it a .ini file.

If not it will stay as a txt file and ELS will NOT work.

That's how I got it to work,

Only reason I messed up installing this was because I was doing something else and not paying attention. But there are people out there who are too lazy to read the damn thing and they'll immediately post on here.

@Break, I understand why you aren't going to pin this, and I completely agree, people need to take time and read some things every now and again.

You can also put quotes around the name (including the .ini); that stops Notepad from adding .txt.

Just map the correct button :) And there is several siren options now. But when Lightstage 3 is activated. you can map keypress "H" to a button on your controller via the Controller software to turn the siren on and off. It does not turn on unless

lightstage 3 is activated. Meaning, no siren ON for Lightstage 1 and 2. Only manual siren available there.

You can also map the Manual-Siren to one of the buttons fex on your steering wheel.  The buttons has changed, thats all :)
