  • 1 month later...

Edit - I had to remove a lot of text and imagists so I could post this.

I live in Stockholm, Sweden right now. And all I can say... I went from a day with CVPI's in my everyday life to Volvo's, and it makes me sad

*I'm not working as a police officer, I'm in Swedish highschool right now*

Anyways, in Sweden we have a nationwide police Department/service, fire department & Ambulance services, BUT it's divided up into "counties" (Län in Swedish). So basically I live in Stockholm "County" (Län). In Stockholm county, we - the police department mainly use Volvo V70/XC70's, VW's, Mercedes-Benz & SAAB's.

*Sorry for the different shapes & some watermarked pictures, it's hard to find "good" ones*

- I write we, reffering to us in Stockholm "county" (Län) and the police.

Our primary police vehicle is the Volvo V70/XC70

The SAAB 9-5 & 9-3 Aero (My favourite police car after the CVPI ofc)

The SAAB 9-3 Aero, it was never really used as a official patrol vehicle, but they do have some (Note: very few) of them.

Global-Nyheter-2011-09-02-Saab-9-5-polis

VW - We use both the VW Passat and the VW Transporter, both as unmarked and marked vehicles.

vw-passat-polis-alltrack.jpg

The VW Transporter

125-3410.jpg

Mercedes-Benz - We use both the E350 as a patrol car (Marked & unmarked), the Sprinter as a transporter and the Vito as Supervisor & transport vehicle.

The Mercedes-Benz E350 patrol vehicle

The Mercedes-Benz Vito used both as a supervisor vehicle and police transporter.

The supervisor version (Note: "Lednings fordon" - "Supervisor Vehicle" or "lead vehicle".

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

They're often used as "riot control vehicles" for soccer (European football) games.

Unmarked vehicles

The Stockholm "County" police uses all kinds of unmarked vehicles, but the most common one is the XC70/V70's. They're used for everything, from detective vehicles to traffic enforcment.

The unmarked vehicles in Stockholm county uses built-in LED lights, but they also have acces to a so called "Kojak light", which is a blue LED rotorlight which they put up on the roof with help of a magnet under it.

Piketen (SWAT)

The Swedish SWAT (Piketen in Swedish) is the police departments last resort. Eventhough the Swedish police actually have a special military-like force called Nationella Insatsstyrkan, this is often reffered to as the "last resort".

They use all kinds of cars, not just to blend in to a "everyday life" but to fit their special equipment. Therefor they use a variaty of cars.

Look at the door, it clearly says "Stockholms Län Piketen" - Translation would be - "Stockholm County SWAT"

Stockholmspiketen.jpg

Chevy's

The Stockholm "County" Police Department uses quite a few of Chevy "busses" or vans. Both as SWAT vehicles, supervisor version, Stockholm Transit police & and regular transporters.

Once again, read on the door, it clearly says "Stockholms Län Tunnelbanepolisen" translaton - "Stockholm County Transit Police".

Police officers

We have a total of 28 500 (app) police officers in all of Sweden, 6 900 of those work in Stockholm "county" (Län).

Sorry for making the post so long, but I wanted everyone to have a good "basic" knowledge about the Stockholm "County" police.

Yup, A viper.

South Carolina is so confused when it comes to the cars they use. They've used Crown vics, then switched to Caprices within 2 years, then went back to Crown Vics and Chargers, then went all chargers. Then they decided to go chargers and Tauruses, and now they're back to crown vics. All those cars within 5 years.... And they say SC isn't doing well economically.....

They went back to crown vics? Are they refurbished, or did they stockpile them several years ago and are just now putting them out?

Sticks and stones may break bones, but 5.56 fragments on impact.

I wanna say they stockpiled them somewhere. I feel like they've kept all the cars they've previously used, and just use them as they need them. I still occasionally see caprices or tauruses but they officially went back to crown vics.

Mooresville is known as Race City, USA because of the large number of NASCAR team race shops which is why our police cars have checkered flags

speaking of NASCAR i just thought id throw this in for any NASCAR or Dale Earnhardt SR fans.

Love the entire Earnhardt family, and love this engine!

The agencies patroling in my area are:

Crowley Police Department (which I will be applying to shortly)

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (Game Warden)

cnpca7720-vi.jpg

There is also the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department, but they apperently don't like cameras since I have found it impossible to get a picture of their cars since they changed the design.

I can tell you that the Crowley Police Department is not the best, response time can be pretty lengthy and officers are offten see abusing their powers and breaking numerous traffic laws in the patrol cars with no lights or sirens on. They will rarely pull anyone over. I passed a marked unit the other day going 50 over the speed limit in front of a park with no seatbelt and texting while driving and all the officer did was wave. However, if they ever do pull you over the tickets are extreamly easy to get fixed.

The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Department is a sight you'll rarely see. They are far from short handed but somehow still seem to be nowhere to be found. The only way to find one is to call them to your house (if your outside the city limits) and wait the 30+ minutes until they get there.

The Louisiana State Police is about the meanest group you'll ever meet. They allow absolutely no slack when on patrol. Doing something wrong and pass them? Might as well take out your wallet before they even move because your going to get light up and 99% of the time have a few heafty tickets when they're done, and don't even think about trying to get those tickets fixed, that's pretty much impossible.

The Crowley City Marshal, nobody really knows what they do around town. I didn't even know we had any until I came across that picture online and started looking for the car around town.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. Extreamly strict, however, very easy to get away from. I can recall countless times of being light up by a game warden. However, a quick duck into a field and they'll keep going like nothing ever happened. If your are unlucky enough to be cought by one, they have no mercy. You better pray you haven't done anything wrong, and if you have you can kiss your truck/four-wheeler, gun, kills, and hunting license goodbye for a while becuase they'll take it all.

Fairfax county skin has been made by fire fighter 5663! :)

Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens | U.S. Marshals Office Lexington, KY

30 Seconds... 20 Seconds... 10 Seconds...  BANG BANG!! Chief - You do know were not able to shoot people on site anymore? R. Givens - He pulled first! *Season 1 Opener*

All police vehicles here are in the same livery. New Zealand Police is a nationwide agency responsible for the majority of law enforcement in New Zealand and there are no local variations in livery in each city. There used to be a separate livery for general duties branch and highway patrol but now they are slowly changing them to be all the same. They operate Holden Omega's which are similar to the Caprice and we also have some slightly older Commodore's which aren't very nice IMO.
