  • My local agencies (I live right near DC, so there are a lot of federal police agencies in the area as well): Montgomery County Police: Montgomery County Sheriff's Office: Maryland State Po

What does ANPR stand for?

Also, strange that your Sheriff department doesnt patrol.

My sheriff department patrol all unincorporated areas.

Plus, is it weird that the PD patrol the highway?

Only CHP is allowed to do traffic on highways out here

Funny where I live if it falls in your city jurisdiction you can patrol it here there is a pretty large stretch of highway that the Sheriffs CHP and Pd share. In my county  CHP responds to all Traffic calls and penal laws in unincorporated areas and Sheriffs just respond to penal laws

Sheriff in my area have way to much to deal with. They respond to things on the freeways when requested but other than that, they never go on them.(I should know as I am on the freeways everyday).

CHP doesnt even venture into the unincorporated areas other than to give tickets since that is all they do. The Sheriff has it all under control, they got so many units out here. I have so much respect for my local SO and love conversing with them but when it comes to the CHP, well lets say I would rather chew gum thats sitting on a NYC sidewalk than have an encounter with them.

Whoa!  Tarrytown, it's been over ten years since I was back that way!  All those old brick buildings.  That's where Kahr manufacturers their 9mm, or at least did when I was around there.

At any rate, here's some stuff from Thurston County, Washington State:

Sorry about the lack of vehicle coverage for Tenino, but it's difficult to find photos of their vehicles.  I posted the two I could find, the one shows the primary design real close, and the other is of the entire vehicle.  The color covering the front and back of the vehicle is a dark blue that is unique to them.  Compared to what they used to have, they are very nice vehicles with a dignified design.  Nisqually is a Tribal PD, and they only run SUV's, though there are some old pics out there that depict some crown vic's they once had in their regular fleet.

Here's some of the one federal agency that runs around regularly, the Fort Lewis PD which is a DoD police agency.  They have a LOT of variations on their vehicles:

My local force is the Odense Police, part of the Danish police force which use the same vehicle models throughout the country.

And some recent photos from Copenhagen, which are similar vehicles to the Odense vehicles:
