And? People can be obsessed over anything, not just anime. Why do you care what others are obsessed with anyway? Does it affect you? No.
 
Anime is short for "animation", however "anime" is the term given to all animation of manga style created in Japan, so technically speaking, all anime is Japanese. 

I do like that you've used quotation marks to suggest that anime isn't it's real name or something.
