Oregon College Shooting

Featured Replies

This morning there was a 911 call of a report of a gunman in the Oregon school UCC, he was reported to be shooting out windows of the school when the call came in. This in my opinion has been the worst thing in this area for a while now, well worst thing I remember anyway. If you want to read more on this I'll link a couple of news reports on the matter. The Douglas County Sheriff is also saying more gun control is not the answer http://buzzpo.com/sheriff-in-charge-of-response-to-oregon-shooting-gun-control-is-not-the-answer/?utm_content=buffer1653f&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_campaign=positivelyrepublican.

45 school shootings... this year alone? What the serious fuck America?

This this and this. Personally I feel that mental health problems and ease of access to firearms are the problem. Someone who's thinking straight doesn't just wake up one morning and go "huh, I think

For those interested, here's the full dispatch audio from the UCC response:

I have to say, the radio traffic was very well done. All traffic was concise, coordinated, no confusion and people weren't walking over each other's transmissions. A very nice way to handle such a dynamic and developing situation, kudos to all the responders.

Kids and teens aren't getting enough psychiatric help, teachers aren't noticing problems, parents are also not noticing or caring, and dumbasses aren't locking up their guns to the point where their kids can't get their hands on them. In regards to adults/college students, background checks aren't enough many times. And in my opinion, 18 is way too young to be able to buy your own handgun(That's the minimum age in Oregon).

I honestly had no idea how high the annual number of school shootings were in the States. It seems you get one every week or so, it's absolutely disgusting. We haven't had a school shooting in Australia since 2002.

blame the strict gun control....blame the media and blame big pharma and there psychiatric drugs...seriously obama wants gun control and people have known about this since 2007 hence why gun sales went up the roof when he got selected...I mean elected and went up yet again when he re elected these shootings seem more and more staged they also happen in gun free zones surprise surprise when will people grow a brain and figure out that theres more then meets the eye, people also fall for the media propaganda of "omg so many shootings"...really? have you ever heard the media report on the good stories of when an armed citizen stops a criminal? no because it doesn't fit there agenda....do you ever hear the media report on the shootings in Chicago and how many children have been killed? no because it has strict gun control and it will make muslim in chief  and corporate media look bad

May be so, but it still does not counter the fact that shootings in America are through the roof. This isn't a great place to be.

Well the Oregon Health Plan also cut out psychiatric help recently, so people now have to pay out of their pocket to get any sort of mental health treatments. It sucks really.

the media only reports on certain stories that fit there agenda...they never talk about places like Chicago or new York which have strict gun laws yet does not deter shootings or crime for that matter where as a state like texas which doesn't have strict gun laws have very low crime...the real problem we have are killer cops shooting people in this country and getting away with it...we have a big mental health issue disguised as a gun problem and Im glad I don't live in one of those states that have strict gun control and armed to protect my house from thugs....also the pope, the president, and a lot of Hollywood celebrities have armed body guards

Crime happens everywhere. They publicize stories that feeds to the public. They want to be the first to get the most interesting and important news. I'm sure not many people would want to know every single bit of crime that happens in Chicago at every moment. It's a crime-infested city, we all know that, it's nothing new to us. So of course they won't publicize everything. Chicago's local news stations would cover that. We only hear about the major events that may occur. Stuff that strikes interest.

It was on the front page of reddit within 30 minutes, and that's how I heard about it. I was in class at the time. Such horror can run through you when you realize that you're sitting in a University, and at a moments notice this can happen. This hit way to close to home. Our professor stopped class and just sent us home.

My heart hurts for my fellow Oregonians. This has been a terrible day, that I hope to not have to read about it again, but sadly, this stuff happens all the time.

That being said, Redding police had an amazing response time. I think that a comment about the dispatch said that within 5 minutes police were there, and the situation was done in 8. That's pretty good, and I'm thankful that they were able to respond that fast.

Yeah, I was in school too when I overheard a teacher talking about it. Lots of people at my HS have family that went there and were very worried, luckily I know everyone that I talked to at school's family was okay. Nearly everyone at school left because of it. One of the worst days in the community I've seen, hopefully this doesn't happen again in this area or in Oregon again..

these shootings seem more and more staged they also happen in gun free zones

Do people actually believe these conspiracy theories? I wonder what will happen when a Republican president gets elected and these shootings continue to happen. Will people still think that the conservative government is staging them or are liberals the only ones that do that?

LOL! Texas has "very low crime"? Do you have any statistics to back that statement up or are you just guessing? I did a quick little search and almost all of the states that have the highest violent crime rates in the US are states that have very relaxed gun laws such as Florida, South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Alaska.

I don't agree with your statement "18 is way too young to be able to buy your own handgun(That's the minimum age in Oregon)." Last time i checked the legal age of being a adult is 18, but yet in many states like mine we must be 21 to buy a gun, to drink, to rent a car (actually they want you to be 25), and to even be a cop. What needs to happen is there needs to be a overall set age limit. Now yes, it's a darn shame this thing happened, but i don't think restricting guns from certain people is the correct answer to solve this.
