  • A trailer showcasing animations doesn't make for very good viewing, especially not for a first reveal.  Was it a normal cop chase?  No, every entity involved in the pursuit except the player was spaw

IIRC, you copyrighted the names LSPDFR and SAPDFR, yeah?

So I stumbled across this mod, using the name SAPDFR. (Mod is in the spoiler)

So is that a stolen name?

A) Names are not subject to copyright. They're subject to trademark. The laws are very different.

B) We have unregistered trademarks; we have not attempted to register them. It's unclear we could if we wanted to; those guys tried registering SAPDFR, but were rejected for similarity to Rockstar's trademark (we'd have the same problem).

C) We aren't particularly interested in suing people for making mods.

D) They used SAPDFR for GTA SA with permission. For V, see the link Sonny236 posted.

Looking forward to this, what a sandbox to try to enforce the law in.  It will be stunning, considering what LCPDFR achieved.  Keep up the good work!

This text does not really say anything of any significant importance.

They are shining an actual flashlight from inside of the vehicle. If you travel along the main highway at nighttime, quite often you will see a Sheriff vehicle on the side "running radar", and one of the deputies will be shining a mag light out the window. I managed to make him drop it once and took a close look at it, it just looks like a classic maglite.

One thing that might be possible is to treat the flashlight as a weapon, so it shows up in the weapon wheel, so we could actually use it, but as of right now we can't.

Yeah, that's only one of them.

I forgot about the fact that police do in fact use flashlights at night occasionally. They will shine them through their car windshield when driving around looking for suspects and occasionally carry them around on foot. That is another animation that could be looked into.

GTA has always been really finicky with things like light for instance. I know a lot of people want to be able to control that spotlight on the helicopters, just like they did in IV, but if you pay attention, it is not a physical spotlight, just a beam of light the game draws coming out of the helicopter that is locked on to the player. It may be the same it V which is why you see people code in their own "lights" in mods in IV. It would be interesting if we could make it work the same way and have the game see the suspect you are chasing as the target/player and shine the light onto them without counter-intuitive keypad controls for a light that has to be mapped onto each vehicle. However, this seems like an animation that is in the game, so whenever animations get unlocked it is something to look into. I like your idea of treating flashlights like weapons since that is more feasible now that GTA V already has flashlights as weapon modifications. A lot of the work is already done.

Great work guys! Anyone who knows the current progress of researching V has to appreciate your effort and results. I've got a little question for you, devs; is this a .NET (C#) or C++ project? I'd like to prepare myself for a possible API :teehee:

Have a good time working on it!

Sam what are working on currently?

Guessing animations/arresting mainly.  LMS and I have also been working on something super cool since pretty much the start of the project.  It is unfortunately as hard as it is cool, though.

In my veins now.... This is simply amazing Sam and the entire team. I love this concept, played the GTAIV version of LCPDFR but just got into pc gaming at that time. I was looking forward the V version of this and am simply AMAZED at what the team has done in ONE yes ONE week of coding and TWO weeks of the pc version coming out.... The music was great and loved it, and the chase was simply great to see with the other cop cars chasing...

I don't understand some gamers these days with expectations but I can say gaming is suppose to be fun and thanks to your team we have an opportunity to extend game play with being a cop in V. What more could you ask for in gaming.... A whole other game inside of a game....

Would easily donate and help finance a project like this if it would make any difference to the team... Let me know...

I think the donate button disappeared with the website upgrade.  Speaking of the website upgrade, it was donations from everyone here that paid for it, so, yes, they do help!

It is .NET, using the RAGE Plugin Hook which is independent of Alex's ScriptHook.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

I sincerely apologise if you already know about this, but here is a video with vanilla arrest, maybe it will help you:

Yeah Sam went ahead and explained to me that while the AI will arrest you (the player), it's not so easy to arrest other AI because it seems they have been programmed to "Shoot to Kill" when at odds with other AI. But..... He also posted a picture involving AI arresting AI just a few pages back if you'd like to check that out. I believe the wording was "I'll just leave this here". Thank you for the video though ;)

EDIT: There it is... It's on Page 4.

How long would be the next news about LSPDFR?

3 years 7 months 21 days 15 minutes and 43 seconds.

I guess you have also failed to read the hundreds of posts asking about updates and release dates. When they have something to say, they will. When they have something to release, they will.

Im suprised with all the ungratefull people on here they're still working on the mod.

Calm down, most people are just showing interest rather than being ungratefull which is a good thing.

what kind of super cool thing? xD

Thank you very much! Yeah found it when Sam said that he's working on arrest animations, but I saw it after I've posted the video haha... Can't remove/edit my post, so I'm sorry again.

Anyway, awesome stuff is happening here.

most people are just showing interest rather than being ungrateful which is a good thing.

Unfortunately, latest events around modding showed that mod users sometimes can be very rude. I can't say it about GTA community, because I'm very new to it, but Fallout and Skyrim - users think modders owe them something. "Stop teasing, release it finally", "Where's new version? Why still WIP?", basically don't sleep, don't rest, just do coding 24/7. But the truth is - modders don't owe them literally nothing. And users should keep it in mind before asking "When it will be released?".

Can't even imagine what this cool feature is the Devs are making! I mean, having a cop mod in GTA V already is so cool, how even better can it become?
