Modding and V

Featured Replies

I have not yet decided whether we use our own hook implementation, which we already have, or switch to Alex's at some point.

As for LCPDFR for GTA V, we will let you all know when we have something to share. No work has been started yet though, we're mostly messing around with the scripting engine atm.

Take as much time as you need to make it guys, the native trainer which had just been released is a step forward for script modding=)

As i read through the forums on GTAForums, everyone is asking about online and if its going to be able to be used online, and then i read the other posts about people freaking out about it. Looking at both sides, i understand people not wanting this to be available online because of the immature people that would use it to their advantage instead of playing fair. I get that. Now, to my side. Being a huge supporter of online roleplaying such as LCPDFR, this is a very usefull tool. It will incerase gameplay experience and fun. Personally, i wouldnt use this unless i was in a private session roleplaying. It's a HUGE step into the roleplaying world for GTA V and i just dont think that people are realising that most just want this to become what GTA IV had which is LCPDFR. With respect to both sides of the conflict, if its even possible to have what we did with GTA IV, i hope everyone can just get along with it and learn to enjoy the game, and whatever addons other people might make.

Even thought people have already pathced it to work online

Somebody got it working online, just no link yet:

Personally for ME I would like to see it online because of my clan and we need it but I also understand how it will ruin everything else as far as online goes.

Are you going to release your scripthook?

To be totally frank I really hope GTA V is not moddable because I really enjoy playing online with my buddy and we enjoy the GTA V online not some modded up police version. Unlike GTA IV if you attempt to join a regular multiplier game it's not even feasible. GTA V was created for the online experience that they intended it to be and they did a very good job at, I for one do not wish to see that ruined. I'm totally cool with sticking to my GTA IV for my LCPD:FR mods that crash every 20 minutes of game play for when I am in the mood to pretend to be a cop; something that gets old real quick when your a police academy major and notice that GTA IV LCPD:FR is really just a traffic stop and approach simulator. On that note I'll stand by my guns for defending Rockstar and hope that if and when mods come out for this game they stay on top of it to either A) keep it far far away from my multiplayer experience or B) Let the people who want to mod the game rent their own servers to run it on. Rant over.

Seriously?  Rockstar even said that A, they themselves are releasing a mod tool and B, that the mods will only be available in PRIVATE games.  That way you don't need to worry about any of the ridiculous modded lobbies.  On a side note, if you don't want police mods for GTA V then why even keep reading about the mod status on a website dedicated to making said GTA policed mod?

Wait, what mod tool is this? I can't see them releasing the source code to their new game's engine just yet. A list of native hashes maybe, but this is Rockstar we're talking about.

There wasn't much said except that after they released the game Rockstar planned to release a pc modding tool to go with it.  They said that it will probably be released a couple weeks after pc release.  All of that info is coming from before the pc release though so that might have changed.  Regardless, my point was that Rockstar said that mods would only be available in private games and that they promised to try to remove any mod that interferes with GTA Online itself.

Aside from another LCPDFR, I'd actually like to see a working ELS eventually. The lights in the game look amazing no doubt, but theres no way to have just the lights. Its either siren + lights or no go. Also a way to trigger the "other" siren, triple tapping the horn key seems to work but only for a split second does it play.

Just a simple ELS. to control the lights, and maybe make them a little brighter (optional?). If you're one of the "muh default cars" people you don't have to download it, no point in saying "nooo pls dont make one". depends when modding becomes a little bit bigger and we start seeing them frequently. so far only certain things can be done and I understand that.

good luck on experimenting with GTAV, hopefully we see some good stuff come out of it

Well, in my search to try and change the sirens for gta, ive come up to a wall. Considering my very poor skills with scripts and such, im not sure what to do. I found the siren file, which seems to be in an awc format, which i have to idea what program could convert or edit it. As well as i know there is more than one siren so im assuming that all the sirens are packed into this one .awc file. I'm just not sure where to go from here. If anyone knows of a program that i can use to extract/convert to see the audio files that would be great. Otherwise its beyond me with my self teaching.

I have to say, if this mod tool thing does become reality, then GTA V will probably become a modder's paradise much like Skyrim. A proper launcher where you can choose what scripts to load, with any cheaty ones disabling Online automatically for that session, would be amazing and keep out hackers. That way, everyone's happy- modders get thier hands on the game files proper, players get good mods, and Rockstar gets less grief from hacking on their servers.

Do you have a source on this? Never heard of it before.

I was interested in this also, so I took it to Google and found the following:

This is a "story" about it: http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/76033/20150226/gta-5-pc-mods.htm
And this is their source:

I for one don't believe this, but I can be wrong.

Also, the dispatch.meta looks very, very interesting.

There was also this video, 1:33 minutes in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOLckzwJhOov

Rockstar have barely said anything about modding so far.  It'll be interesting to see how they react to the trainer making its way online.

We will hopefully have some news to share really soon about topics closer to home, too.

KDramaStars is the worst media site ever. They steal stories and articles from other sites.

They are literally THE example of clickbait. For the past 2 months they keep running stories with "Rockstar Confirms Red Dead Redemption 2 release date". Even though nowhere in the story does it even include Rockstar confirming RDR2 is even in development.

Honestly, my only sources were the video I mentioned and an IGN article that I read.  I've never heard of KDramaStars until I saw BrendanWoolbert's post.

That site says nothing but BS clickbait, so it has to be taken with a pinch of salt. That said, i think everyone here wants this to happen so that we can tear into making some really whacked out scripts.
