GTA V modding in the future? If so could LCPD:FR Also become LSPD:FR?

Featured Replies

With the upcoming PC Release of Grand Thef Auto V, Three major questions come to my mind:

1. Will there be modding at some point in the future?

2. Will it be stable?

3. Could the greatness that is the Liberty City Police Depot.: First Response also become the ' Los Santos Police Department: First Response?

Personally I hope for the first two. But I would love nothing more than to see something as amazing as this great mod and it's community in the great glory of Grand Theft Auto V. I already have so many new ideas that could be made!

What do you guys think?

Really there is no ' : ' in the name? Guess some file names and videos are misleading, my apologies.

I'm sorry that this is asked alot, just trying to support the possible idea ^.^.

I am going to find some basic modding tutorials and soon as GTA V comes out i'm gonna start digging through some files!

One of the main ideas I have been able to come up with is a promotion system. As you progress through your career as an officer, you will receive promotion as would a normal officer. Now obviously this would not be done in terms of how long you are on the force but how well you do.

Maybe a reward system with each promotion? Access to certain weapons, vehicles, and what missions you can undertake.

For example: Starting off as a rookie will assign you to basic tasks such as a normal traffic stop due to, Light Violation, Reckless driving, and basic call ins.

As you progress you will earn the right to attain much more difficult tasks such as pursuits, shootouts, all the way to maybe even Heists!

That was the number one thing that came to mind for me was being able to stop a possible bank heist! Either one that is in progress or preparation for one to take place with intel that you could gather before the heist happens.

So many more ideas I have left, but I shouldn't bother exploring until we figure if they are even possible. It's already amazing what you guys have accomplished in a 7 year old game.

We have discussed the ranking system several times, and the general consensus has always been that it wouldn't be a good idea. Some just want to jump into the fray of First Response, and not be restricted which can be extremely frustrating.

Stopping a heist seems like a good idea, but we'll see how it goes when the game is released the 14th. I am sure LMS will do his best to bring the best experience for everyone.

i watched a video that said they are making sure online cant be modded first or hacked then rockstar will be open to modding the game ect. so prob after a month or two modding may be a option. but they said there main priority is making sure online is stable and airtight.

So much speculation :P We'll see when it is released, easier that way!

but the video i watched was from a guy that went to play it at rockstar on pc. and he asked them about modding.

It's still only speculation however. Rockstar have not out and out said "Yes we support modding" they've only mentioned about how airtight they plan to make GTA Online to prevent anyone having an unfair advantage (cheating/hacking etc)

While we can take what the rockstar guys have said as an indication that they are open to see what we can do with the single player, it doesn't 100% mean they support it. If they did 100% support modding we would have steam workshop announced and a modding API, but we don't. And therefore until we actually have a crack at it, it's still just speculation as to how moddable the game is. That's what ineseri is saying.

No MP modding? Teh.... Well that's Rockstars choice. GTA was never originally intended for modding anyway right? Or even be for the PC alone?

Course this isn't a game like Skyrim or other games with a workshop. Still my hopes are high that we will find a way, I've been looking forward to porting some of my work to GTA V for a while.

2. I DONT THINK SO

I think it'll be quite stable, actually. I don't think they've delayed the PC version for this long just to scrape some poly's.

I actually think these are pretty legitimate questions considering how close the release is. I for one am NOT purchasing the game for a third time just to find out we can't mod it. I'll wait to here from everyone here.

I agree, but I bought mine for PS3 X3 Crappy internet and bad graphics. If we can't mod GTA V I won't mind that at all. But stability is my number one concern.

My thought on this was that since this was delayed so long that they are trying to port it as perfectly as possible... you know.. so they dont repeat the porting of GTA IV :) It's why i'm glad that it took so long. The longer it takes to come out, the more effort is being put into it to make it work.

I preordered GTA V PC already and preloaded it from steam. Its a good 59 GB. I wander how modding is definitely gonna work with a file size that huge compared to gta iv 13 gb xP

Size of the game doesn't matter. The huge size is probably from all of the 4k textures, vehicle models & such.
