Top Gear favourite Jeremy Clarkson apparently got into a scuffle with a producer last week with the producer reporting that Jeremy punched him. As a result of this, the BBC has suspended Jeremy Clarkson until further notice and the last three episodes of this season of Top Gear may not be aired.

 

Clarkson has caused controversy in the past and was given his "final warning" last May. Could this latest altercation be the end of Clarkson's career with the BBC and ultimately Top Gear?

 

Clarkson has made light of the situation, as he always does, by joking about his suspension on Twitter. Jeremy, Hamster and Captain Slow have also made jokes about what movies will be shown instead of the new episode of Top Gear on Sunday.

I sincerely hope Jeremy isn't sacked from the BBC. Top Gear just won't be the same without him, and many people agree, with an online partition against Jeremy's suspension reaching over 200,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.

I don't know what really happened, but I doubt they're going to sack him from the BBC. The audience just loves him (I've seen posts and pictures everywhere of people supporting Jeremy, and I've also signed the petition, which now has over 600,000 signatures)

If you take this at face value and believe what the producer says, then he deserves more than suspension. However, I find it hard to trust the BBC on matters to do with Clarkson since they really want to get rid of him.

 

I think it would be ill-informed of them to sack him, however. I seem to remember either May or Hammond saying that should something happen to one of them they would all stop producing the show - considering Top Gear is the BBC's biggest earner, they really need to think any actions through.

It's a sad day in the world because Jeremy Clarkson may no longer be a host on Top Gear (UK, obviously). A couple weeks ago, he "spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him." An investigation was launched by the BBC and a decision will be officially announced sometime today (March 25), but according to The Telegraph, he is to be "sacked."

To be honest, if is true what they said what he did, it is not more than fair. It's sad that he'll no longer host, but right must be right. 

Well that's the end of the show (as far as on BBC) because Hammond and May won't do the show w/o him after Hammond's near fatal accident 10 years ago. Other networks would pay a arm and a leg to produce the show, unless the lawyers have put some no competition clauses and other legal mumbo jumbo into their contracts to prevent that (probably likely). Cross you fingers people

The rumours I heard was just a punch to the face.   That in itself is wrong,  but sometimes people will act in a way that they deserve it.

 

If Jezza did any more than that,  I don't know what to think.   Only something extreme like threatening your family or children would someone deserve a long ass whooping.

While it is sad people still have to be held accoutable for their actions. I read that Clarkson has had several incidents in the past so this isn't the first time. As a viewer I am pissed that Clarkson is leaving, but the rest of me says if you are constantly getting into trouble then what do you expect? I think Jeremy Clarkson is what Charlie Sheen was to Two and a Half Men; the show might go on but no one can replace him and it will probably suck.

I do agree with the decision, there really was no choice. It just sucks.

Its official now. And the BBC has fuck themselves.  They lose the trio and Top Gear will tank. But we will see the trio on another network for sure.

In case you haven't heard, Ex-Top Gear UK presenter Jeremy Clarkson has been dismissed by the BBC which concludes his career with the BBC. 

 

This has been following a "fracas" between him and a producer Oisin Tymon, after which he was suspended on the 10th of March.

 

The fracas occurred because the hotel stopped serving hot food after a days worth of filming, so following a 30 minute verbal onslaught from Clarkson, Tymon was then struck by Clarkson for 30 seconds until a witness intervened. 

 

Personally I'm so disappointed to see Clarkson go, especially because if he goes James May and Richard Hammond will very likely follow, but I'm also glad the BBC took that approach because I do not condone assault and I'm glad to see that they don't focus on money. Clarkson was an irresponsible idiot for his actions, and has let down 350 million viewers, for someone treading on eggshells he crossed the line and I believe its right that he gets punished for it. He is selfish and acted like a stupid little child, acting on impulse without thinking, now May and Hammond have to choose whether to continue their career on Top Gear or go elsewhere, which the ape didn't think of I'm sure. That being said, I cannot see Top Gear being good without him, and I love Jeremy Clarkson. It's a harsh punishment and the BBC will suffer, whilst Clarkson will probably move elsewhere and not really have lost much.

Clarkson is a troublemaker and probably does need to be disciplined, but this will kill the BBC in terms of viewers. They put way too many of their eggs into a single basket.

The BBC just lost millions. I think Clarkson did wrong and deserves to be punisheted, but I think they should have given him one more chance. But we haven't seen the last of those three. I predict a show on another network.

To clarify suggestions some have made, it has only been implied that May and Hammond may leave the BBC too.  Neither has left, they have simply said that they will not do Top Gear without Clarkson.

Yes, thats true. Its not guaranteed but it's likely that they'll leave. I'm interested to know who the replacement will be, plus I want to know how long it'll take for the BBC to recover from this, if they do at all.
