KyneiZero got a reaction from M90 in Can This Run A ENB?
I don't think it run the medium range graphic ENBs.  Probably severe FPS hit I'm guessing between 25%-50% of default. (I can run these decently with a *3* year old mid range pc). How does the vanilla game run currently for you?

Because it looks like a standard laptop spec that can be used for lightweight gaming.   Key word is lightweight...  I can only recommend for you to look up discussions of low end pc enb and see if you like how it looks and in general how it runs for other users.

If you can run at 60FPS at default,  may be worth trying a ENB out.  (make to sure learn good back up techniques!!)   If you are running at 45FPS 'ish or inconsistent frame perf,  I would say no.  I have tried med-range ENBs on an older spec pc that ran normally around 43FPS.  With the ENB,  the perf/stability hit the crapper and the FPS was fluctuating between 28-40fps. (This made me feel nauseous, headaches after 5-6 minutes of playing)

Hopefully you learned something from this.  And maybe if you are lucky,  can find something that might work.   Good Luck!

It will depend on what mods you use in your game,  but i suggest installing only what you consider essential and backing up that folder.
Useful if you decide to use a completely new car pack,  try out some enbs or if you start experiencing frequent crash problems.

That way you may only spend 3-5 minutes just copying tested and preconfigured files/folders over.  Rather than reinstalling and tinkering settings for 20min or more, a lot more.

    My personal method:

    1)  I start off with the base GTA IV installation from steam,  so no testing needed.  Your game, video, sound options are saved somewhere else so it doesnt matter if you frequently delete/replace your GTA IV game folder.

    2)  The next step is LCPDFR because it really is the major component.   Install that onto GTA IV and test a bit in game to make sure it is relatively stable.  And also set up options in the ini for callouts/scenarios/keybinds however you like them.

    3)  ELS 8 is a requirement for me.   It is very easy to install which is great for testing.   I usually add only 1 or 2 modded vehicles to test and familiarize with the settings.  Limited configuring because your settings will change based on what cars you use.  (i revert the vehicles.img to default once i finish testing)

Test a bit more for reliability and after all that i backup the entire folder.  So now i have a preconfigured GTA IV + LCPDFR + ELS 8 that i know will always work and rarely ever have to install these individual components again!  Just about 5 minutes(slow HDD) to copy it over and replace any bad installs.

At this point it is plug and play whatever you want.  Put in cars using OPEN IV or SPARK.  Most scripts i use simply require you to copy the script folder into GTV IV.  This is also very simple to deal with and troubleshoot if needed.

(another convenient option is to put in scripts you are familiar with inside the backup.  I like using the TowingScript and very rarely have issues with it.  I could include it.... but i personally like to keep things simple and basic.  I dont bother with any other scripts in my backup.)

So 5mins for LCPDFR+ELS 8 recovery.  Anywhere from an extra 3min to 15mins for scripts,  adding cars and how picky i am with customizing each ELS vehicle slot..

This makes it much easier for me to get back to the game and enjoy it for as long as possible.  At the very worst,  you would have 15gb of the game you are using and 15gb of backup.  30gb isn't too bad to save a lot of headaches.

The only arrogance i see in this topic is from you.

No one has all the answers. Nobody will have the exact same hardware, software, driver settings, adware/spyware whatever crap you can name.

Other users and the devs will try to help in what way they can. That is all we can do. Your post is the only disruptive one in this thread. Being constructive is giving tips, troubleshoot for other users or give as *detailed* bug reports as you can to the Devs.

It is that simple. If you don't get it and want to leave, good on you to figure that out.

I'm using Cj24's LCPD Pack which is made for ELS which is why I would think that it would have all of the lights.

You are very perceptive.   Great post by the way.   You nailed the issue with this type of editing.  I am sort of stuck in the same place as you.

Some lightbars and their emissive textures ingame don't look very good in low bloom/"glow" situations.  (i noticed it is mainly Legend & Valor lightbars.)

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> <-You seem to know your stuff,  so you maybe aware of this or have seen this already.
Either it is dull and washed out like you've said.  Or you bump up the emissive and the lights blob out...  I haven't been able to find a middle ground that I am personally happy with.

The visualsettings.dat can only do so much unfortunately.   And ENBs do so much more with visual/lighting upgrades.  But instability and performance problems can creep in to your game if your computer isn't beefy.

Good luck with your attempts.  :)

If you haven't had any luck so far,  you could try some alternative visualsettings.dat that I tested.  I hope the "fake" ENB you tried is not from my post.  (as I make no claims on it doing anything a ENB does.)

My goal was to make the ELS lights look a little better than default with no ENB use.

'?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> **OLD post so it mentions the older versions.  USE the latest versions of LCPDFR & ELS.

The first post has thumbnails at the bottom so you can see a variety of lightbars and how they look.  If you like what you see,  give it a shot.

The last post has a link to few pictures on exaggerated settings.  It is an example to show people what they can change to find a custom brightness or bloom.

You only need to change 1 file in your GTA folder.   **I do warn you that a new install of GTA maybe required if you need troubleshooting.   It sounds like you have tinkered quite a bit with other files/mods.

Post here if you are unsure on how to go about it.

    Hi KyneiZero,

Thanks for the info! I'll try those settings and see if they help. My main issue with the "fake" ENB is that the lightbar colors appeared to be pink and baby blue and very washed out, which drove me up the wall.

But that file that I used before was in the Downloads section of this site, it wasn't from your post. All it contained was a visualsettings file, which made the lights look better but just wrecked the colors. In the thread that you linked, the very first pic in the first post, the car on the far right, the lightbar colors are horribly washed out, while the other two cars colors look a bit better.

I have tried editing the model textures of the vehicles I like to use, but it seems like no one uses a universal file structure, so some vehicles have an emerglights texture, some don't, some have multiple textures that COULD be the colors, etc etc. So far I haven't been able to change the colors of any light on any vehicle I've downloaded, despite editing God knows how many different files.

I have no idea what causes so many issues with ENBs on my system, but I'd just like to make the lights on emergency vehicles look better and more realistic.

I'll try your settings though and see if that helps any.

    Thanks!

Yup, that is the best way to set up a crime/accident scene that you want to drive to for example.

I'll post a slightly detailed step by step guide.  Relies heavily on Simple Native Trainer

(Start)  Spawn Car.   Then set how dirty the car is(some people are picky about this) =D

Set how you want ELS to look.  -  (Optional) Freeze Car (I prefer this as I don't want to drive across the city and find out that the stupid AI drivers pushed the fire engine into the ocean...)

Save the Car,  and Delete Car Blips as the last step.  (when you save the car,  a floating marker/chevron appears and stays above the vehicle.  You'd probably want to remove it if you are making a video for example)

It's because Game4Video's ENB has the old ELS configuration file which replaces your current version. It works with any version of ELS, but you just have to not copy over the old ELS files from the zip.

If you are using an ENB made for Gta IV, you must make a few adjustments for it to work for EFLC. The layout for EFLC is as follows:
    common>data>visualsettings.dat
    pc>data>timecycle.dat+ the other timecycle.dat modifiers
I believe the issue is you are not copying the files to TBoGT Directory:
    TBoGT>common>data>visualsettings.dat
    TBoGT>pc>data>timecycle.dat
TLAD>pc>data>timecycle.dat  (The TLAD doesn't get the visual file, it references the one in common.)
Hopefully that will resolve your issue. Good Luck!!

Okay,  now we have an idea that something else is also not set up right.

I don't like it either,  but the only way to find the problem is reinstall GTA IV with no other mods, nothing.

When GTA IV is ready,  install ELS 8.0 and let it copy everything over.   You could install 1 ELS car just to test that it works and how it looks.

After you are happy with ELS working,  install LCPDFR 1.0d and let it copy/replace its files.

For some people,  there are sometimes problems with ELS + SNT key binds.  Try installing Simple Native Trainer after LCPDFR.

Read the 2nd post from (CouthInk4),

If all this works okay,  you can start adding whatever extra scripts you want.

You want to make sure the basic parts (GTA IV, ELS, LCPDFR) are done correctly and test them one at a time.  If you still have problems,  it makes it easier for other people to help out if there are fewer things to look at and diagnose.

    Good luck.
