  • i wish R* would do the same thing Bethesda does. Support the modding community with official SDK's and what not. Don't really understand why they don't do it. Well okay yeah 'GTA Online' would prolly

  • Meh, no real surprise here. GTA IV has DRM too, and we were able to mod it. GTA IV has no modding support, and we can still mod it. Virtually no game has "modding support".    We won't know until th

  • And this is the reason we can't have nice things, and instead get DRM-locked games and crappy ports.

I'm fine with that. So mods won't destroy GTA Online like money gltche®s did. Pretty sad that there won't be a LSPDFR/SAPDFR tho.

and how would you know that there wont be an lspdfr? do you have a crystal ball? the way I see it no matter how hard they try it will still be moddable so people need to chill out...the game isn't even out for another two months

I love how everyone is arguing about whether a game will have mods or not 2 months before release. Bunch of fortune tellers here :DD

If my post made you laugh (or giggle) in any way, smash that blue grey "Like this" button & like it

I obviously don't know if there will be a LSPDFR or not. But if it has a modding protection that actually works at least a little bit, I think (do you need this two words to notice that I'm not sure or that it's just speculation? ) it might take some more time than it would without any protection or restrictions. The best case would be if Singleplayer would be moddable + a modding restriction or even protection for GTA Online so there will be less cheaters or so. I highly doubt that it works for a long time though.

It's an open issue- V's file structure, i remember hearing, is reasonably similar to IV, with similar file formats, so graphical/player mods shouldn't be much of an issue if SparkV or OpenV is developed. Scripts are the main issue; if it does use some kind of Uber-painful DRM (personally i think R* have learned their lesson this time around and may give in to Singleplayer mode scripting) then it may take months to get the modding community going.

Best case scenario is that they include 2 file locations and .EXE's for singleplayer and online- mod the shit out of singleplayer, but wrap Online up protection to deter cheaters, which would be a fair trade. They could make Online's files entirely Cloud-based to deter cheaters if that's what they want.

Rockstar won't stop us from being able to mod the game on PC, we the LCPDFR community are unstoppable. :D

There is no such thing as an "unmoddable game". Game companies will try their hardest to make a game so it cannot be modded, but we can always find ways around it.

Anyways, I wish Rockstar Games would understand, some mods are good for marketing! It gets their game out there even more!

For example, back in like 2009-2010, I would always see these suggested videos on my computer about GTA IV mods. Some were those shitty console mods, then I would see a video about GTA IV PC mods. I really liked seeing all the mods for PC. Those videos wanted me to go out and buy GTA IV for my computer. LCPD:FR has played a big role in the growth of GTA IV PC and it's ratings. If GTA IV wasn't moddable, then I wouldn't be here right now!!!

i wish R* would do the same thing Bethesda does. Support the modding community with official SDK's and what not.

Don't really understand why they don't do it. Well okay yeah 'GTA Online' would prolly be one reason, but maybe they can implement a system that detects game changes and let's you only play online if u use a vanilla game. But whatever man. It would be awesome to see R* giving the modding community some love 'n hugs. without mods, 'San Andreas' and 'IV' would have been dead for a long time.

Maybe GTA IV... but def not SA that game is too good even without mods, if you don't have GTA V

It will be moddable, R* try to stop modding on their games but almost every R* game has thousands of mods available, especially GTA. GTAV will not have mod support but mods will be possible. Hell, people modded GTAV on console and PC is much easier to mod.

Causing Chaos since 2006

LOL. Cracking DRM is a joke. Rockstar and all the big game devs can try as hard as they want and throw all the money they want into having a "fantastic DRM policy/program." You get a black-hat with a even semi-idea how to crack code they can hack into that shit easily. Regardless of how hard it is.

Best thing about computer games and computers in general is regardless of what they tell us, or how hard it is, It CAN BE DONE. Hacking is a beautiful thing.

Yeah all we have to do is wait 1 month and like 20 something ish days to figure this out for sure. If they modded the consoles im sure they will mod the PC. This is why companies should just release information about an upcoming game, like 2 weeks before release. Then we can avoid all these hypothetical "what if.." and "It wont be" threads.

According to ENBSeries, the creator of mods for games such as The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and even Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar has prevented any mods from being introduced to the game. Taking to the ENBSeries forums to explain why he will not be adding mods into the game, the popular modder wrote:

I was wrong. Rockstar did everything to prevent modding of GTA5, so at this moment impossible to do anything via editing game files. All my buddies modders share the same opinion, that GTA is short living like any other game whithout mods, so i do not care about modding it unless:

1) modding will be possible by changes in future patches or when drm and encryption will be hacked.

2) when game will have stable patch which works for every player.

3) i don’t see much potency to modify the game, just a few minor changes without “wow” effects, just make it possible to tweak everything is definetly not for first day players, so better give it some time and see, perhaps game will be dead very soon (see p1).

4) at this moment i have so many problems, that first question is for me how not finish in suicide.

Though he got a tad dramatic at the end there, considering so many were looking forward to seeing what the modding community came up with using GTAV‘s huge open-world environment, it’s no surprise that he’s frustrated by Rockstar’s choice to prevent modders from toying around with the game files.
