Police Tactics - A Police Officer Simulator

Well, I must say he did a good job making the game and I'm proud of that. But if he were developing a game like this, its common sense to do SOME R&D before you jump right into it. So, on one hand, I congratulate the maker of the game, while on the other, I condemn people like Olanov who're freely allowed to insult or call people idiots despite being a part of the LCPDFR team. But then again, he'll always have an upper hand because there are sheeps who try and follow the team members regardless of their opinion quality in hopes of personal gains later on (Whoops!). Anyways, this thread is hot as hell and I better stay away before the admins and mods jump in and start banning everyone (excluding the team members of course) involved.

My post might provoke some team members. But thats what you get when you start thinking you're above everything.

You are aware Olanov is a retired staff member, right? He's not officially part of the Community Team anymore.

Threads like these are bound to start a debate, but I agree with you, this one is starting to get a little out of hand. Any further provoking/insulting/flaming/off-topic posts will be removed from now-on, so please refrain from posting them.

I believe he said he's talked to some people that work in policing. The car is most likely just a placeholder, but for some reason nobody gets the idea of that.

So many people here have their own opinions, of which I respect, but posting it in this topic isn't going to help anyone. Go to the website and tell them what you think instead of bitching about it here. They look at every comment left on every post.

"Work and ideas get stolen, then you keep moving on doing your thing."

Quote in spoiler

Uh-huh. I'm sure. Is it also normal to have opinions based on weak grounds, if any at all?

Look, let me level with you dude. I can respect you defending people about having opinons but issue here is we have an opinion so flawed it's bashing an early version (prototype?) of a police simulator because it's using one placeholder model, implying he'll completly pass it on just beacause of that. Generally I would welcome different opinions and I do. Others who mentioned the car at least acknowledge the fact that it's an early version of this game and the vehicle is quite possibly a placeholder model which will get changed in time. Meanwhile this other person is so ignorant he won't even look at it with those facts in mind and is treating it like it's some "finished" version of the game.

What would've become of LCPDFR if majority of those people just saw it and thought: "oh, you can just call for backup, I'll pass it on" while in fact it's some early version in the works or something? Or Driver San Francisco, when it was just a grey boxy city with blops of ugly vehicles driving like they were on rails? Nothing as succesful probably, although that can be debated. There are just no grounds for opinions like them and while those people can certainly hold them, it doesn't mean that they're any less stupid or that they won't recieve backlash.

Pretty much this. I firmly believe that everyone are allowed to their own opinions and thoughts, but this is a forum after all where the point is for opinions to be discussed.

As always, if you feel something is wrong with a post, you can use the report button :)

I agree everyone has a right to an opinion, no need for insulting :)

My PROFILE

One thing that worries me is the scoring function. Is there not going to be freedom of choice between being a good cop or a bad cop? SWAT 4 for an example really had a silly score function in game that made no sense.

Honestly the attitude of some people in this thread is disturbing.

  • This project can not be compared to any other project like Police 1013, as this project is confirmed, by way of gameplay footage, to actually be in development.
  • Nobody is going to be given free reign to throw around insults, regardless of whether they're a new member sitting on one post, or an established member with thousands of posts.

Now, if you don't like this project for whatever reason, that's fine, but don't come in the thread trying to force your opinion on everybody else.  If you want to give your support to another project, then by all means you can do so.  If you want to offer some constructive criticism in here about this project, then feel free to do that as well.  Understand though that at no time should anyone be in here just posting derogatory nonsense.

Also, Olanov, you should know better than to be contributing to this stupidity.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."

All right, I thought that I may as well share my thoughts.

To sum it up, I really like where this is going. I think that we should all appreciate the facts that:

1) There actually is screenshots, videos etc. I think we should be contented, with the openness the developer has towards the community. He believes that we will be able to keep in account that the game is not near being the release version, and take it with a grain of salt. Kodus to Odin for just this!

2) That there is going to be a police simulator standalone game. Yep. Making a game costs a whole lot of money (considerably) and dedication. To say a fact, it probably won't sell as well as it could have been, if it was to be a more mainstream genre (be it action, RPG, strategy, etc.).

I'll be monitoring the progress of the game with a great amount of interest.

It looks like it will *be* an RPG, according to the site - you have a persistent character, who develops as you play. In which case: meh, RPGs aren't generally my cup of tea.

So far from what I've seen, It's not my kind of game. Really not a fan of the mechanics shown in the video above. Another thing I'm not exactly a fan of, is the audio and game sounds. Kinda seems like really low quality stuff. but, the game isn't finished yet. things could change.

I would probably buy&try.

i don't know... it looks good, but i hope they change the default uniforms and cars before release... really not a fan of that SWAT armor. it looks quite fun to play. I hope that the other game Police 10-13 is real and not a scam, cos it sounds cool.

The sounds are just placeholders & will be switched out for more HQ ones before release.

Would still hope you keep a eye on it in case you get to like the release version of the game

The uniforms & vehicles are just temporary placeholders while the Devs get the scripts & engine to work correctly & as designed. They will be swapped out for more realistic & better ones before release

Hey everyone,

I just read all posts in this topic (did not see it before), its pretty amazing what we can get in foruns =)

Thank you, in anyway, for everyone that has suggestions, critics and ideas regarding our game. It's been a long time ago when we started the game.

Since this is really a great community (I came here in the past to download this great mod, besides developing games and managing a company, I really like police games) I think I will share some info with you ;) (and this will also be in our dev blog).

Our company had some success with advergames and apps, we are now really working full time (almost a year now) with our own products and games.

We made that Pitch gameplay video in only one month, many of the assets are just placeholders, because we used the video to talk with publishers and to show that there is players and people interested in this kind of game and that WE can do it. We have the experience, we have the know-how. We are also professors and speakers in big game events in our country... we just did not have the opportunity to make such a nice game... yet.

Now we do have a new partnership with a publisher (can't tell yet, because we are preparing an official announcement) and the game WILL launch this year. We are working full time on it, every day, every weekend (almost, we have family, lol).

I, by myself, like to hear and think about every commenting about the game, because this is not just a game for us anymore, it is a game that we want to use as a true case for our company and our country as game developers. So we do hear the community. We want to hear what are your thoughts, we just can't promise that we will do all of your ideas ;)

Above all, a game like this is very complex to do, it takes time, it takes a lot of money ... and we know we have many players that wants a game like this. And we know how to do it. Now we have the time, the budget, the right partnership... and we are building the community o/ Thanks to you and a lot of other channels.

Check our webpage for more ;)

We are preparing many news and all I can show you, at this moment, is our new vehicle for now...

Let's keep in touch ;)

Stay safe!

Cheers
