Yeah, actually read the guide.

When I first got the tester copy, I had tons of questions for Caine, and it took some time to figure stuff out. Had the guide been done then, it would have answered the vast majority of those questions. It is really, really useful.

Seriously people, this mod is much larger than ELSv6. Just read through the guide once, then go through ELS.ini with the guide open and set your options, then go through the default_config.ini and set that up aswell and then go ingame and play with it.

I personally hate ELS V7. Not a fan of it at all and think i'll be using v6. Not willing to put the time in to config it and everything.

 

Also, who's brilliant idea was it to disable police vehicles by default in the .ini file? Like really?

I notice that if I enable all the other police slots like noose fbi nstockade and pstockade my game crashes but if I have them disabled with just police1 and 2 on then it works fine....whats up with that?

As far as car modders is concerned:

There's no change in how ELS works for you from V6 to V7, you still need to set up the models the same way, however you can now have secondary lights set up in a rotating pattern as illustrated in the ELS guide.

 

As far as normal users are concerned:

All ELS V6 models are compatible with ELS V7.

 

ELS HAS been extensively tested, if it doesn't work for you, then you have made a mistake somewhere in your setup.

 

You now have to customize a bit more than before:

 

You do not have to  use the default_config file, you can create a copy of the default config file and rename it to whatever you want as long as you remember to update ELS.ini with the new name.

 

The config file system allows you to extensively customize each vehicle slot, you can create a different vehicle config file for each car model (one for police, police2, polpatrot, pstockade, nstockade, noose, fbi and so on) or you can use the same config file, all you have to do is update the name listed under the vehicle slot in els.ini.

 

 

It may be a lot to get used to, take your time and learn how it works, I didn't learn it overnight, I had to figure out a lot of it myself with only a brief introduction from Caine. It's not impossible to learn by doing, ELS is fine, it is not released broken in any way, if your game crashes or if it otherwise doesn't work it is because you made a mistake, use the guide and go though your settings and troubleshoot.

Are ELS on boats suppose to work with ELS 7? I can see the texture, but it ain't bright as it should be.. :unsure:

It's really complicated, but it seems really customizable as well. I look forward to learning all of it! So far, I really like the cruise lights feature.

i was definately overwhelmed when i started looking at it and the config files.   Tough it out,  it is definately worth it.   Tinkering around with it for 25-30minutes and i think i have figured out most of the things i wanted.

 

I am grateful to Lt. Caine and all those supported and helped.  They are doing this out of their own time and ELS 7 now has so many more options and configurability settings.   You are getting more than before,   what's there to hate..

If you slam a book against someones head and it sounds hollow, it's not always the books fault, you know?

 

 

Oh and just so you don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult anybody. But are you really criticizing a mod, because YOU can't use it?

okay i am talking out of my behind,   but do you actually have els vehicles in your other police slots?

 

maybe turning it on for those slots,  but still having the default or non-els cars is causing it to go funky.

 

 

 

edit:

 

-i am playing it safe and just enabling for the slots i know i have els/modded vehicles.  Maybe it is the solution or just coincidence.   Give it a try!

V7 is really awesome, great work guys.

Just one question, is it possible to bind the Manual Siren key to the Middle Mouse button? i didn't see anything about it mentioned in the PDF.

I absoulty love this mod, there is one thing that i would like to know. I have read through the read me and i dont see where there is a setup for multiplayer... everything is working awsome the only thing is i really only see the other person lights when the siren is ON.... when the siren goes off the lights go off as well. Agian thank you for the time that you have put in this mod it is AWSOME. Keep it up

They might be in express mode (that mode involves fewer keystrokes, so is recommended for MP under many circumstances).

NOTE FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE CRASHING:

If you already had an ASI loader installed (which you did if you had LCPDFR), you don't need to install dsound.dll. If you had xliveless installed, *don't* install dsound.dll; it'll mess stuff up to have two ASI loaders.

Set PRML Type=rota in the vehicle-specific config file. If you don't know what that is, read the guide.

as aprin stated above no one is in express mode, only time lights are on is when the siren is on, i dont get it! Little help for MP would be very helpful!
