    Maybe it's because I proudly exercise my concealed carry permit, or maybe it's because of my interest in law enforcement, but people need to calm down for a second and acknowledge some basic facts about this case and the law in general.

    Drop emotion from the equation. Emotion is not law, and it never will be. Also, forget the race issue. If you are concerned with the color of either the defendant or victim's skin, you are part of the problem with this country.

    If you examine the case without emotion as a matter of law, George Zimmerman was in fact innocent. He did not commit murder as defined by law, so no reasonable jury could convict him without making a mockery of that court room and setting a horrific legal precedent. The law is clear, and that's what our courts are for. At the time Zimmerman used deadly force (if the testimony from all parties is true), he was being assaulted, he was pinned to the ground, and was having his head slammed against the concrete. He sustained documented injuries to his head. Any reasonable person would be in fear for their life at that point, which under Florida law justifies a response with deadly force. It's called self defense, and it is not a crime. That's why the jury couldn't find him guilty of murder.

    Zimmerman should not have been in that situation however, he should have remained on his property, he should have followed the instructions of the 911 call taker. But, he wasn't charged with menacing, or assault, or trespassing, or any other charge for the laws he actually did break. He was charged with murder; a crime he did not commit as defined by the law.

    Also, it's not illegal to disobey a 911 call taker. They are not police officers or sworn public safety officials. They do not have the authority to issue lawful orders, and you are under no obligation to do anything a 911 call taker says. Was he stupid, yes. But sadly, "criminal stupidity" is not yet a valid charge in American courts.

    If you want to be upset at the verdict of this case, then be upset at the prosecutors office that filed worthless charges against Zimmerman. It almost appeared that the prosecutors office was trying to make a show, and thought they could play the race card to get emotion involved and get a "win" for their resumes. The media played right along and provided the stage for the show. This whole case is just another example of the joke that our legal system has been corrupted into.That's the real "injustice" here.

    So it seems that some people struggle with getting ELS V7 to work, some are experiencing crashing, some can't change the values they want and so on. Here's a quick little guide that may answer your question.

    My game crashes on start-up:
    Be sure to check if you have two ASI loaders installed
    Suggested by cp702

    ELS doesn't work on any of my modded cars:
    Previously you have been able to "plug and play" ELS, that means that you could install ELS V6 and use the default settings without changing anything, that is no longer possible in ELS V7, see the next answers:

    So what do I do if I want ELS on a car?:
    Step one: For the purpose of this guide I'll state that we want to enable ELS lights on police2 (the Declasse Merit/Chevy Impala clone)

    In order to do this you have to open "ELS.ini", the main configuration file located in your GTA IV/EFLC main directory, scroll down to the vehicle list and find police2:

    Change the status to "on" and leave the file open.

    Step two is to open the vehicle configuration folder, go to your GTA IV/EFLC main directory and open the folder named "ELS", there's a file called "default_config" by default.

    Step Three is to copy default_config and rename the new copy to police2 (you can call it what you want, but it's a good idea to keep it simple), open the notepad window that has "els.ini" opened and change the  file for "POLICE2" from "default_config" to "police2"

    Step Four is to set up the vehicle configuration file.

    I'll recommend that you ignore some of the configuration options until you understand the basics of how you configure ELS.
    All you need to look at right now is:

    I'll break it down in three sections.

    Primary light section

    Type = leds
    Defines what lighng type is used on the model.
    You can chose between LED lights by setting the type to "leds", Strobe by setting the type to "strb" and halogen reflector lights by setting the type to "rota"

    Check the vehicle model you are configuring and see what type of lightbar your car model has and change it accordingly.

    "rota" replaces ELS-H, all cars that were previously ELS-h should now be set as "rota"
    ForceDfltPat = off

    Defines whether or not the vehicle will have a pattern forced on by default.

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    DfltPatId = 0

    Defines the pattern ID for the default pattern if the option is enabled

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game
    ExpressModeRandPat = off

    Not relevant right now

    ForcePatForSrnTones = off
    Defines whether or not ELS forces a different pattern depending on what siren tone you are using.

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    PatId_Yelp = 0

    Defines the pattern for the yelp siren

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game
    PatId_Alt1 = 0

    Defines the pattern for the police priority siren

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    PatId_Alt2 = 0

    Defines the pattern for ambulance priority siren

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    Secondary light options:

    Type = leds

    Defines the type of secondary lights, you can chose between LED lights by changing it to "leds" directional lights by changing it to "drct", rotating halogen lights by changing it to "rota"

    DisableAtLstg3 = off

    Allows you to disable secondary lights by default when in "code 3" mode (third light stage)
    ForcePatForLstg = off

    This toggles whether or not a pattern is forced onto the secondary lights depending on what light stage it is at

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    PatId_Lstg1 = 0

    This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 1

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    PatId_Lstg2 = 2

    This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 2

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    PatId_Lstg3 = 3

    This defines what pattern is forced on the secondary lights on light stage 1

    Wait with this option until you have finished setting up the car and confirmed that it works in-game

    Environment light colours:

    This section defines what colours is reflected on the ground, this option was found in ELS.ini in old versions of ELS

    Extra_1 = red
    Extra_2 = red
    Extra_3 = red
    Extra_4 = red
    Extra_5 = white
    Extra_6 = white
    Extra_7 = amber
    Extra_8 = amber
    Extra_9 = amber

    You can chose between: RED, BLUE, WHITE, AMBER, GREEN, MAGENTA

    A typical red/blue lightbar would be configured like this:

    Extra_1 = red
    Extra_2 = red
    Extra_3 = blue
    Extra_4 = blue
    Extra_5 = white
    Extra_6 = white
    Extra_7 = amber
    Extra_8 = amber
    Extra_9 = amber

    Once you have done this you can save the car configuration file and test it in-game, it should now work.

    You can edit the file name for other car slots in ELS.ini to use the configuration file we just created or you can create a new configuration file if you want to use a different setup.

    That is it for now, this will hopefully help you in understand the basics of setting up ELS V7, I'll explain the more advanced options later on when I have a working desktop PC again.

    Do not PM me for support regarding ELS V7, I do not provide any additional support for ELS apart from this guide, this guide is not a support thread for ELS v7, do not use it as a support thread.

    To be honest, I LOVE ELS v7... Its an amazing mod... reading the comments above, I want to say this... WHEN version 7 of ELS was announced, a lot of people kept asking for the release date, then when its released, you come up with comments saying how stupid this amazing thing is...

    No.

    Therefore you aren't "entitled" to a release date. He's doing this for free and as such, you shouldn't pressure him

    savelints8 reacted to Landwarrior in Fun things to do when bored
    I've always liked to roleplay in video games, so when I'm playing as a patrol officer, I like to take it slowly, and attempt to act realistically. I almost never force callouts or world events, and usually try to do things that a real cop might do during a normal day, such as:

    parking in an alley or parking lot while waiting for calls to come in from dispatch conducting safety/welfare checks on houses stopping for food periodically frequent checks on known trouble/high crime spots realistic Code 3 response runs (slowing down/checking intersections before I cross them, only passing on the left unless traffic is totally at a standstill, driving at a safe speed, etc)
    Something else that I've found helps beat boredom is role playing as specialized units.  Here's a list of some of the different things I like to do:

    SWAT: Patrol with a four man team in either unmarked vehicles or armored vehicles, or do high visibility counter-terror/crime suppression foot patrols in busy areas (star junction, downtown Algonquin, downtown Broker, the airport). While playing as SWAT, I usually decline the lower risk calls, and only respond to shots fired, suicidal suspects or shootouts. Street Crimes Unit: Patrol in plainclothes in unmarked vehicles, looking out for officers needing assistance, road rage fights between drivers/peds, hit and runs, etc. As SCU, I'll usually only respond to drug deal or shootout calls.  Gang/Vice Unit: Similar to Street Crimes, but focusing on gang or vice related crimes. This means doing prostitution stings at night, checking out the strip clubs for any crimes, stopping "parolee" gang members or pimps and frisking them for contraband, conducting vehicle stops on gang vehicles, etc. Bicycle Patrol: (Using the BMX bike mod (http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-iv/vehicle-mods/3491) to replace the faggio and the West Palm Beach Ped uniform with the yellow bike shirt ()) When doing this, I'll usually stick to Star Junction or downtown Algonquin, and just play it similarly to a normal foot or vehicle patrol. However, I normally only take calls that are really close to my current location. It's also fun to role play as an officer in a specialist police department: (Note: some of these can be pretty slow paced and require some patience.)

    LTA (Transit) Police: Foot patrols inside the subway/tram stations, or vehicle patrols from station to station or below the elevated rail sections. SWAT security checks of the subway tunnels, checking for intruders, hobos, or other suspicious activity. (or Ratman!) Port/Harbor Police: Vehicle patrol of beaches and shoreline areas (Broker Navy Yard, Port Tudor, pretty much any docks or piers), or ship patrol of the bay. Sometimes I'll even do Visit, Board, Search and Seizure operations on some of the docked ships that have interiors. Park Police: Foot patrols on the paths of the various parks in Liberty City, or vehicle patrols from park to park. Housing Police: Foot patrols of the housing projects, doing vertical patrols inside the high rise buildings, or vehicle patrols around the projects. Hospital Police: Vehicle patrol between hospitals, checking the lobbies for problems and the rooms for unauthorized people. Airport Police: Foot patrol around the terminal, vehicle patrol around the runway, looking for unauthorized people or cars.

    I downloaded my first mod and skin. A non-ELS NYPD Impala. Wanted to see if it would work since mods are very foreign to me. I was very delighted to see the cop car cruising down the street. My questions are:

    Can download more than one skin for a car mod & how?

    Can you switch skins in game?

    I'm about to try to download the ELS. I hope it works because LCPDFR .91 crashes the game each time. I've gone through the support forum and checked everything, but can't figure out what's going on. I might give .95 a try.
