I think everybody could be a tad more mature about this, including staff members. I'm not defending RMC here, but I don't see a reason to make a public announcement and purposely ridicule him. It's quite immature and unprofessional. If you needed to make a notice about people making multiple accounts or anything else listed in this topic, it could have been done without mentioning the incident. The staff are supposed to impartial - you're really not supposed to draw negative attention towards anybody.

 

This thread shouldn't be about how awful a person is or what they've done and how they've been punished but rather about the official message about having multiple accounts and anything else covered. If you lot want to gossip about somebody, perhaps think about doing elsewhere? 

Personally, I'd like to see staff remain impartial and professional and not get personally involved in affairs that require a more business like approach. Either stop the gossip on threads that should be PSAs or make another thread to chit chat about whoever and whatever RMC did.

To be fair, he did conn a lot of people twice now and it's probably better people know rather than be left in the dark and continue to wait. I think this announcement isn't really about RMC/Anti, more a reminder on the policies in light of the recent example.

I'm sure that a lot of people would want to know why the topic was hidden and why he was banned, given the popularity of what he was claiming to have made, which is why he was used as an example.  We want people to know that we're not going to put up with that stuff, and sometimes its easier to get that point across by actually showing an example of it.  For the record I never said that he was lying or deceiving anyone, but that he was evading a previous ban and violating our account policy.

 

Sure, I could make a generic announcement about our account policy, but only a small number of people would actually read it, or care about it, or even believe it.  It would be like a news agency covering some economic policy change in China on 9/11 - it simply doesn't matter.  At least this way we get our point across, our members find out what happened to RMC, and we show that we actually care about the community and are always working to make it better.  

 

On that note, we're not declaring open season on him or going to let people go down the abuse road, although I don't really think what's been said so far is abusive - it's just people expressing their disappointment and how they feel about him based on what has come to light.

 

As far as being business like goes, I don't like being like that as it just isn't me.  I try to do my best to be quite open and welcoming and approachable about things and I know that a lot of people appreciate that.  I do my best to reply to the PMs I get, I don't ignore things like your post and I just generally try to make this place special and unique, and maybe things like this are why it is.  For me, the business approach just feels like 'We don't give a damn about your opinion/feeling/thoughts, but we'll post this generic and boring message to go with them".

I have to admit not knowing who he was his story sounded like it could be true until I made some calls and found out it did not happen, sad that that's what this world has become

not really getting into that thread talked about here, but here is some food for thought for all of you

 

a lot of times people get an idea and make a thread they are working on something. usually they have no idea how to achieve it or  if they do, the skills needed far exceed their skills. so the project never gets anywhere.

 

what you need to consider before posting "omg cool awesome cant wait you rock blah blah kissup some more" and going on a crusade to silence all those not worshipping the idea poster, is that both sides of extreme views just fuel conflict.. it is no different than the epidemic of people rating before trying or unfairly rating (either 1 or 10 or whatever the top and low ends of the particular scale is). because keep in mind if you rate a 1, somebody else will rate a 10 just to counter your vote. none are a true refletion of the real quality of the thing being voted on.

 

on other sites, things have gone as far as the releaser asking people to up vote as to counter the bad (and often deserved) votes..

 

so things to consider when somebody comes up with new mods, releases new mods etc. especially ones that claim to be revolutionary.. wait for the substance first, keep the hype down.

he has done this before, i think it's right to ridicule him, i mean the first time with the fd mod, ok that is understand

many have tried to make a fd mod before and have failed before simply because gta iv is a very hard game to code for, especially a fd mod

now with this whole sherrade that he has pulled it's quite acceptable.

first off he lied about having a brother who got stabbed and how he was a west convica police officer.

it just so happen around the same exact time he posted about his so called brother getting stabbed a west convica police officer was killed by chris dorners, coincident? i think not. he has pulled the exact same thing before with the fd mod, delaying it right before a beta release and saying that something came up. now i understand your on of those people who were highly anticipating this mod,(i saw your post in the thread as well as your post replying to other members on their views, name calling and what not, not trying to attack you just saying) but i only think it's right to bring shame to his name. i mean to not address him and let the whole entire community know about he whole little game that he plays he'll know no shame and continue to go on about his whole little game. the way i see it is the community as a whole should be informed about bad apples running amuck, already soon after this thread was posted there was a thread asking what happen to rmc ESS thread and rmc. by bringing shame to his name maybe this might make him stop and actually try and devlop something fully before making a thread about it and how he's going to make things that he hasnt even implemented. now am i saying that he cant script and he's a frod altogether no, the cornas were scripted and he has scripted things before which tells us that he does know code, but what he was promising was too much for such a short time frame.

According to him, ESS is still a real and developing project and it was his decision to delete the thread. If you choose to believe him it's up to you.

I'm withholding judgment for now. If this turns out to be a farce, no big deal to me, though I can understand that people who actually put time into it would be pissed. If it turns out as advertised, even better, but some folks will have egg on the face, as it were.

The thread was closed, then removed from public view as a large number of users started to suspect that something was not right, this resulted in some backlash that we had to stop from happening, RMC was told that he could contact us as soon as he had any further updates and we'd reopen the thread.

 

It was shortly after this that one of our moderators voiced their own suspicion about the subject and we looked into it and discovered that it was indeed the same person that previously had lied about developing a FDLC mod similar to LCPDFR.

 

We have to stay stop at some point, we can't allow our members to lie or cheat, we welcome people who contributes to the community in a positive way, either by engaging in conversation and by submitting mods to our database, the user in question has done the exact two times, as well as other infractions that aren't relevant here.

 

We're not going to witch hunt him, we won't tolerate abusive behaviour towards anyone on here, that's against the community guidelines, anyone who breeches those will be dealt with, regardless of who is being talked about.

 

I can't see how this is anything different than a police force announcing that they caught a prolific criminal in their area, Sam's post serves as a back story as to why one of the most anticipated mods on the site all of a sudden disappeared, it's better to put our cards on the table and explain the situation as it is.

 

 

It's far from the only issue we have, this announcement isn't just to address the situation with the user above, we've seen an increase in account policy violations, abusive behaviour and attempts to make our (moderators) work harder, I received death threats last night as a result of intervening with a situation, keep in mind that there's far more going on away from public view.

Firstly, multiple accounts aren't allowed on LCPDFR.com, we like it when everyone has one account, that way we know who you are, everybody else knows who you are and it makes it so much easier on everybody.  Please don't create new accounts if you don't like your name or anything like that.  You can change your name under your profile, and you can change everything else like e-mail address, avatar and signature too.  If you have a legitimate reason for needing a new account, you can simply contact us and we'll be happy to assist you with it. 

 

Ok. I just now sort of did. The only reason was that one day about like forever ago, I tried to login and i was told my account didn't exist. I did send out several emails and posted on the facebook page. Today, i just got tired of waiting and went and "recreated" my account. But it like I have a new one. I used all of the same info and username and it didn't say it was in use. The system acted like my account was never created in the first place. Why did this happen and I hope it won't happen again.

You've got a valid point there. I do understand that more people may get the message by including him as an example in there, and I am in no way condoning what he has done, but I just felt that all of it was a bit unprofessional. With regards to that, I also understand things from your point of view. Perhaps LCPDFR is a more casual, personal community so there is no need to be business like as on many larger forums. That said, I'd like to thank you as well for being able to reply in an orderly manner, unlike many other moderators (not on LCPDFR, yet) who seem to take everything negative to heart. Cheers ^.^

Perhaps you took what I said in a way that was more negative than what I had intended. I didn't mean for my post to come off sounding like I agree with what RMC did or anything like that. In fact, I could really care less because I wasn't involved at all. My problem wasn't that people were saying mean things about him, but that these things were being said on a thread that should be more professional and mature. Frankly, I wasn't really involved in ESS or any of his other shinnangins but I completely understand and agree with everybody's dislike of him.

I know very well what kind of a stress it is to be moderator on a forum. It get's VERY exhausting, especially with people disrespecting staff. The community team does this for free, nobody takes money to do this. The community team come here, sits down after a hard day of work and school and they deal with other peoples problems. The LCPDFR staff does this with passion, because they like the website and the community they're doing it for. But what happens? They have to deal with people sending them PM's raging at them. How would it make you feel, if you did something completely for free for a friend and in return gives you the finger or a kick in the stomach? This kind of stuff really robs people of any motivation to keep doing their job.
