Like several major games in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto V is being developed by Rockstar's Edinburgh, Scotland-based Rockstar North studio. Character animator Alex O'Dwyer is an employee at Rockstar North, according to both his LinkedIn page and his CV, and he seems to think that Grand Theft Auto V will launch this October.

As seen in the image above, O'Dwyer's CV puts GTA V's launch window firmly in the holiday season

Read somewhere that Consoles will get it somewhere around new year. Then, add 6 to 7 months to that for a pc version.I don't think we'll be gettin' it before July 2013.

So true! On PC the devs have much more opportunities to make a good game.

Actually, I like the fact that they are producing for the Console first. This means they have extra time to spice up the PC version, rather then downgrade it for the XBOX ;)

Yeah, I love how they "spiced up" GTA IV for PC, with memory problems, no anti-aliasing and buggyness :D

I've always heard that consoles are easier to design for since you have a non-changing platform to work with. With PC's you have so many compatibility issues with different hardware/software configurations. Sadly, the market is largely skewed toward consoles. Developers will focus their attention on the systems that bring in the most money (consoles). Piracy has had a very negative impact on PC games, but I'm encouraged to see games like BF3 really showcase what makes PC gaming great (expansive environments, amazing graphics). GTA V will do well on PC but will sell far more copies on the PS3/XBOX360. For this reason they'll focus their efforts on the consoles. However, I do expect a V to take better advantage of the PC abilities SLI/Crossfire/AA, etc. I'll cry if they release something similar to IV....

BTW I did see an article that said after they release Max Payne 3 they will have some more news on GTA V (I think they want to keep attention on their current release and not draw too much attention away from Max Payne 3).

Ah! Reminds me of the dialogue ,"...and we policing enthusiasts/GTA "Police" modding community, just concentrate mere 1% of the total copies sold worldwide of Grand Theft Auto: IV..."

I'll wait untill after Max Payne 3 comes out, R* ain't going to talk shit about GTA5 untill then. Other than that, I don't really believe anyone says about GTA5.

Like Custo said wait until Max Payne is released then there will be GTA5 everywhere i can garantee it also E3 is just around the corner too i can bet my arse there will be something shown or more info then ...

The issue is accessability. A $300 console will play any game released for it over its life cycle, while a $300 computer... oh, wait.

I'm not saying that's a good thing, but it's definitly the better deal when it comes to moving copies.

Games should be developed on and for PC, not for console. I'm no developer, but I'm pretty sure developing for a PC and then porting it to Xbox 360 and PS3 is easier than the other way around.

Here's the thing, if the developer plans to release it for a multi platform (360, PS3, and PC for example) and develop the game on the PC, then they will not know where the boundary line is for the 360 and the PS3 (in terms of what they can handle). So building it on PC, and then porting it to console will not work out due to the game being too large or too graphic advanced for it to handle. So most developers build games on console, and then release the game for the PC. Consoles are holding the gaming generation back. Imagine GTA V if it was just made for PC, with consoles out of the picture? They could have a huge map, advanced detail, insanely long single player stories, etc...

We would be years ahead, if we didn't have the limitations of consoles holding us back.

Plus, more people own consoles. It will probably always be like this. They are meant more toward crowds that aren't serious gamers, or people who don't have the money for a advanced PC that plays the game with moderate settings.

If you think of it, consoles are much more user friendly. All you have to do is buy one, buy a game, pop the disk in, update it once and a while, and that's it. For PC, you have to worry about updating your drivers, having to constantly upgrade your hardware to keep up with the evolving games, and much more. That's why consoles are, and probably always will be more popular than PC's, which is why developers will always focus more on the console versions, and release the PC platform version of the game later. This is the case with most games/developers, R* for example, who always release the PC version after. Whether it's a week, month, year, or not at all (RDR for example).

That's why the PC version is always put behind, even though the future of gaming isn't possible without PC's.

I have nothing against consoles (I own a 360 and used to have a PS2), and I even find them nice for a low stress, relaxing gaming experience, which can be easier. While on the PC, I can enjoy more advanced graphics, mod, and play a few games which are for PC only.

Then they could at least port it properly to PC and not release a (and excuse my wording) five minute glitchy shit port.
