Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a gaming pc suitable for GTA IV & LCPDFR with car and light mods? Have about £500 to spend and would like the best settings I can get... like anyone really!!! I already have OS/Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor. HDD isn't massively important size wise as I use an external one for everything!

I'm in the UK if it makes any difference? I notice a lot of prices/users on here are US..

I doubt it will. If I told you my current PC can run GTAIV maxed out with an ENB with 100 FPS, would you believe me? I have a Radeon HD 4350, an AMD Phenom II 910 and 8gb of memory. Do you even know w

  • Is that even a PC? Regardless, can you post your specs please?

Aw hell naw. That thing will either blow up or implode when you play GTA.

What is the opinion on Thunderbolt boards? Is it worth it? I used Thunderbolt on a Mac once and it was ridiculously fast. Not sure if my PC needs it though...

colombia123: There's nothing wrong with buying intel. You should try looking at some facts. But honeslty, it depends on what you want. Most people will tell you get a intel cpu. However if you cannot afford one then you can get a AMD cpu.

Also, here's some benchmarks. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/common_cpus.html

rambo9155: I would try building a PC rather picking those "DIY" places like CyberPower. Pretty sure they charge you "extra expenses". But it's totally up to you. As for you picks. I'd try getting a bit more powerful components.

Should be more than enough

I have a question. I'm not a noob with computers but I kind of am when it comes to video cards. I currently have a EVGA GTX-560Ti 1GB card installed and planned on upgrading to a GTX680SC 2GB, but I'm wondering if I should upgrade to a higher VRAM. I play all of my games at 1080, rarely do I go higher than that. Should I stick with the affordable 2 GB or wait and get a 4 GB?

So nobody can even respond to my question then?

I think your setup is good enough. As I've said in this topic before, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2GB) video card, so the 660 ti will definitely suffice. The i7 and 8 gb RAM should be fine as well.
