Need help buying/building or upgrading a computer?

Anyone care to help me with my previous post? I've been waiting/searching for stuff all day.

I found a computer a youtube commentator suggested to me on > THIS < website with a starting price of $1500. Not sure what to add or get rid of both performance and cost efficient wise. If anyone can check it out, make me a good computer for GTA IV, that would be really helpful and I'll REP+ or whatever it is you guys do around here. If the computer he suggested isn't good for LCPDFR then someone can give me a custom build one. Please respond, anyone, thanks.

That PC is definitely good enough. If you want to lower the price some, then you can switch the video card to something lower, but I wouldn't go less than the GTX 650 (since that's what I have and I'm not sure how good the lower cards would be). I'd also like to point out that no monitor is chosen, so if you don't already have one then there's some more to add on, price depending on what you choose. In the Operating System, I would switch to Windows 7 Home Premium for better compatibility with games (and I don't like Windows 8).

Also make sure you go for any freebies you can get, free stuff is always nice.

I ordered my PC from that site and definitely recommend it.

This is what I have:

That's not the full configuration, but it's the main things that I got. If you want the full configuration from that site, let me know. My PC was $1074.05 after shipping, and with some discounts.

I doubt it will. If I told you my current PC can run GTAIV maxed out with an ENB with 100 FPS, would you believe me? I have a Radeon HD 4350, an AMD Phenom II 910 and 8gb of memory. Do you even know w

  • Is that even a PC? Regardless, can you post your specs please?

Aw hell naw. That thing will either blow up or implode when you play GTA.

Yeah, I am looking to save as much as possible, yet again I don't want to pay for it later on. How well does your computer run GTA IV with the LCPDFR mods? I might get that one, depending on your response. Try to be as detailed as you possibly can if you respond, thanks.

EDIT: I forgot to ask, they do put the computer together for you right?

Edited by Springbranch

Yeah, they put it together. I'll post the full config later when I can get on my pc

Thanks, appreciate it. Tell me how well it runs with GTA IV with the lcpdfr mods (and if you're running the game on low, medium, ultra, ect)

This is the full configuration. However, I actually got a free upgrade to the Cooler Master HAF912 case because the original case I had was back ordered.

There were some extra things in there, like the engraving, that you don't need. I also added some other things like the anti-vibration mounts for the fans just so I could get it up to $999 before shipping for a 5% discount that they had at the time.

Here's a screenshot of my auto-configured (except for "Night Shadows" which were originally off) GTA IV: EFLC settings; the game runs at about 30 FPS with ELS cars. May not be the best, but hey, it's GTA. Nice thing about it is that the motherboard can handle up to 32 GB of RAM and there's definitely room to upgrade the video card.

Looks good, thanks for the setup. I still can't decide, it's such a hard decision to make when you're spending that much money on a setup. Thanks for the feedback. A youtube commentator gave me the link I previously posted to that $1469 computer. He edited it and made all these enhancements to it. It's way too expensive, but it's my dream computer. The main question I have is he has 2 graphics cards, but I don't think I need two.

You probably don't need two video cards...Of course, it's better with two, but I have read some things that say that having two could cause a drop in FPS.

Thanks for the tip, I'll probably get some of the other stuff though, such as the overclocking. I guess I don't necessarily need it, but whatever. If you have any recommendations for me to add or anything from that setup that isn't necessary to smoothly run GTA iv on near high settings with mods then definitely feel free to respond back.

Sorry for the double post, I don't think anyone seems to read this part of the forums anyway. I've  decided not to overclock the computer and am just going to get the one graphics card since I assume I can add another one later on if I want to.

Any suggestions?

Does this computer spec pass the minimum level?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit , Intel Celeron Processor E3400, 4GB DDR3 Memory, 1TB Hard Drive, Intel GMA X4500 graphics?

No atleast get an AMD FX-4100 and an amd graphics like an amd radeon 6670 and maybe a lil bit more ram.

Where can you get this? I live in Australia, Perth

I just wanna know if Intel i5 will work to use GTA IV?

The processor is NOT the most important part the graphics card would be and then the CPU yes an i5 would work but I'd suggest AMD much cheaper and near the same performance. Id suggest the AMD Radeon 7770 if you are on a budget like I am, pm me for any more help.

The site i made this on is Newegg.com  BTW i updated my build a bit!

Hi, I mainly play GTA IV and want to know how to improve this computers performance and what should I buy to improve it? Thanks!

Specs: Hewlett-Packard p6674y System Model
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
AMD Phenom™ II X4 820 Processor
6 GB Available Memory
919 GB Hard Disk
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (I Believe it's a HD 6850)
4 Processor Cores

Let me know if their is anything else you need of my specs

What do I need to get my computer to run GTA IV and LCPD:FR with some car mods (just cop cars to start, would like to replace about 15-25 cars if possible). I have a p7-1251. If you go to hp.com and type p7-1251 specifications in the keywords/search bar ALL the specs will come up. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03208013&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=5217184&tmp_track_link=ot_search#N539 link to make it quicker and the post shorter. I am a newcomer so if I break any rules or anything please let me know. I wouldnt want to get banned from the site or something. Please and thank you.

I hope you didn't spend the money yet. CPU is awful and will bottleneck the graphics card. The Pentium is an i3 that didn't meet spec at the factory, and has hyper-threading disabled because it didn't test stable. It's simply a cost saving CPU and nothing more. The name 'Pentium' doesn't belong anywhere near the word 'gaming' anymore.

I have since changed the cpu that I wanted. I have ordered a intel core 15 3570 and I hope it will work with my xfx radeon 7770 graphics card well.
