With that setup you could completely blow most of the things that GTA IV throws at you [that graphics card could be improved, however], though I am not entirely sure that LCPDFR supports Windows 8 - Windows 7 is the superior OS when it comes to desktop PCs IMO.

The only reason I went with this card, was because i seen few if not most videos about gta 4 with lcpdfr using this card, and graphics seemed really good. But , which graphics card would you suggest? Yea i've seen a post about Windows 8 and it shows ways on what you can do to still play gta 4.

I actually didn't notice before that the card you specified had 2GB dedicated video RAM; disregard what I said before - it will be fine. :D

No.This computer does not have dedicated graphics, and has a 1.7 Ghz processor. you cannot upgrade a laptop. The only thing you can upgrade is the ram, but you cannot upgrade the graphics card. sorry man.

Hey guys, first post here and was just looking for some advice on upgrading my 5-year old setup! How do you lot reckon these parts would run GTA?

Msi z77a-g43

EDIT: would just let you know my current setup with a hd 3650, phenom x4 9550 and 4gb ddr2 ram can laughably run gta4 but am now bored of the lacking textures and crappy frame rates!

You should definitely be able to play GTA IV without breaking a sweat. Not sure how Windows 8 interacts with LCPDFR though; I've heard about problems pertaining to it.  7 is the superior OS IMO.

Here's the guide I used [along with Newegg's excellent videos] to build my PC.  They have example parts lists for budget, mid-range, and high-end rigs; http://www.diyallday.com/how-to-build-a-computer/

So would I (switching to 7) be able to run not only GTA IV, but most importantly LCPDFR? Would I be able to record with Fraps and would it not not crash that often? Thanks for getting back with me. Sorry if im asking to much.

Yup; you should be able to run everything without a hitch.  Fraps in conjunction with GTA IV shouldn't be much of a problem either.  It is all dependent on how stable your GTA IV will be, however - memory leaks plague the game because of bad porting on Rockstar's part.  Try to minimize unnecessary mods as well, like keeping car mods limited to only the emergency vehicles.

Good luck! :D
