Hello,

 

I was searching around the forums to see if someone posted a topic like this and was surprised to find that no one has so here it is.

 

I have one thing to say and one question to ask: I love fighter jets, cant get enough of them.

 

My all-time favorite fighter jets are:

1. Boeing F/A-18E/F Superhornet (Navy configuration)

2. Northern Grumman F-14 Tomcat

3. A-10 Thunderbolt II

4. Boeing F-35 Lightning II

5. F-4G Wild Weasel.

 

Now my question for all the lcpdfr users and staff:

 

What are your all-time favorite fighter jets?

 

SAAB JAS 39 "Gripen"

But of course, the one and only Eurofighter Typhoon!

Lockheed F-117 NightHawk is so dope, SU-25 Frog Foot too but it is Russian

F-16C Block-50 has my #1 vote.

 

My 2nd fav would be A-10C...which although not a fighter AC, it's one hell of an CAS A/C for sure with the meanest gun ever made, which the pilot sits on top of.

 

F/A-18C model is a very close 3rd (don't like the E model...slow, big and primarily a ground attack AC).

 

Runners up would be the F4-E Phantom, and SU-27.

For reliability, you can't beat the battle tested work horse fighters like the A-10, F-15, F-16, F-18, ect. I'm glad to see the A-10 coming back into combat missions, you can't beat those fighters. 

 

I find it extremely sad that they're all being replaced by the F35 by Lockheed Martin. Today's fighters like the F22 for example have lots of great potential, but are bogged down by the companies's lust for government money. All this competition against China and Russia with the "Air Superiority" and "Stealth Fighters" are such crap IMO. Give the military what it needs, not what it wants. 

 

 

EDIT: F35 is produced by Lockheed Martin, not Boeing.

@Mr.Quiggles I agree and which is why the F/A-18 (in any of its configurations) is #1

@Drdetroit I know right! especially with its capability to go into combat not only carrying a gun that is firing depleted uranium HEAT Anti-tank rounds from its 6 barrels, but also carry a full AGM load and Full GBU Load. (my personal favorite in those families of munitions are the AGM 65 Series and the GBU-12 LGB)

I worked at a Lockheed Martin Production Facility. (skunkworks) and got see them through various steps of being constructed.
