43lincoln got a reaction from Voit Turyv in The Mind-Boggling Classic Cop Car ThreadI may see it better but it sure doesn't look better.
In regards to the CVPI not being classic enough, I feel privileged to see one here, everybodys getting chargers, explorers, and caprices. Yuck! I was little and I mean little, like slung over my dads shoulder little when I first saw a NYPD CVPI, that was when my family went to Radio City years back, we had just emerged from NY Penn Station and on the corner was a blue on white CVPI. Just another NYPD RMP, but it was my first and it was special to me. All I see today is caprices, chargers, explorers, tahoes, and what have you. But every now and then I see a Crown Vic just sitting on a traffic detail doing nothing but idling with the lights on and the rookies coffee in the center console. Just standing by to be retired. They are old to me, and to a lot of suburban departments with a lot of money and a hard one for the brand new 2017 Pursuit-tron 1000000 see them that way too. Call me bias or a fanboy all you want, won't change a thing.

Note: the mustang and the HSV GTS are actually community engagement cars. They are still police cars and are fully equiped with radar, ANPR, ELS and all that jazz but they aren't used for any normal policework. The sprinter and the 2 cars in the second last photo are actual police cars however. The sprinter is a mobile command centre.

On a more positive note, the NYPD held a memorial parade for the fifteenth anniversary of 9/11, with plenty of vintage RMPs on hand. A fitting, and heartfelt tribute.

Chicago Police officers load a dead body into a squadrol during the July 1995 heat wave. Over 700 died in the city as the temperature hit 106 F (41 C) with the heat index at over 125 F (51 C). It was reported that up to 10 bodies were stacked in a squadrol at times.
Once the squadrols went to the morgue, they were forced to wait a few hours in a line of 30+ squadrols from around the city to drop off their bodies. If the bodies weren't stinking by the time they were loaded they definitely were when they were offloaded. The morgue was forced to store bodies in refrigerated trailers due to the amount of bodies.
To lighten the mood, someone thought it was a good idea to put crown vic hubcaps on this astro van...
