This is a tragedy and the majority of Law Enforcement officers are great people and do incredible things on a daily basis but people and the media don't recognize that. Our society tends to focus on the negative and stereotype an entire group of people based off of perceptions. 

 

I think this will open peoples eyes and they realize the hypocrisy of their cause.

I'll be honest, what exactly did the NYPD or any other Force think was going to happen? abusing peoples rights, Police Brutality & so much more, it's never good when stuff like this happens, but people are tired of it.

If the guy hadn't have killed himself, the NYPD surely would have assisted him if & when they caught him.. look what the LAPD did to Dorner, 2 of the most Notorious Police Departments for corruption in the world.

It's a truly sad day when the court of public opinion and emotions takes more precedence over the court of law. No longer is it about facts, it's about what you read on social media, about what you hear on the news. People used to demand truth, now they believe whatever they read from the latest Facebook post or tweet on their wall. Ambushes on law enforcement are a growing trend, and unfortunately, I think it won't end any time soon. RIP to all the officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including Officer Liu and Officer Ramos, whose names have been added to the list of officers this year killed in cold blooded ambush.

I just think it's such a tragedy for the families of these two officers so close to Christmas. I mean, just sitting in their car, and killed because they were the first police officers he saw. It really is sad.

Oh G, what does it have to do with "corruption" and "brutality"? Don't make killers look like heroes, please. This piece-of-shit shooter came from B-more, where he shot his own girlfriend, now how's that for a "social protest". 

 

I'm not gonna deny that NYPD is trigger-happy, but if police are murdered while sitting in their car and eating lunch, how their gonna behave on calls? I would be ready to shoot on sight too.

When i Woke up this Morning i Learned that the asshole that did this, is From Baltimore County.. and is apparently a Known Gang Member in the area.. He was Wanted by BCoPD for the Murder of his Ex-Girlfriend in Owings Mills, Maryland after sending her Daughter threats through Social Media, where he mentioned Eric Garner and the NYPD..  it also said on the news article that he fled into a Subway Station nearby and shot himself...   too bad he didn't just Shoot himself straight off we would be much better off..

Its a shame! And someone posted the officer that had the gun pulled out on him.... This is crazy! As a New Yorker I am glad I dont live there anymore... They need to get a new Mayor, and City Hall needs to back its officers up! This is pointless! This needs to stop before shit gets worst!!!

I hate seeing the news.  One life lost is one too many, but this year there have been 113 officers killed. Where is there protests, riots, or even mention from the White House? Obama can sure make a comment on three african americans who were killed, but when its an officer, remains silent.... Anyways my heart goes out to the NYPD and to the Tarpon Springs Sheriff Department, and to all of the LEO's that have been killed.

Relating to this post, I recently saw this when one of my friends on Facebook shared it:

 

Today, I will not answer the radio call that your boyfriend has come home drunk and is beating you again. Today I will not answer the radio call that your 16 year old daughter, who is very responsible, is four hours late coming home from school. Today I will not answer the radio call that your store has been robbed or your house has been burglarized. Today I will not stop a drunk driver from killing someone. I will not catch a rapist or a murderer or a car thief. Today I will not answer the radio call that a man has a gun or tried to abduct a child or that someone has been stabbed or has been in a terrible accident. Today I will not save your child that you locked in a car or the child you were to busy to watch who went outside and fell into the swimming pool, but that I revived. No, today I will not do that.

Why? Because Today I was killed by a drunk driver while I was helping push a disabled car off the highway. Today I was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop to simply tell someone that they had a taillight out. Today I was killed in a traffic accident rushing to help a citizen. Today I was shot and killed serving a warrant on a known drug dealer. Today I was killed by a man when I came by to do a welfare check because his family was to busy. Today I was killed trying to stop a bank robbery or a grocery store robbery. Today I was killed doing my job.

A chaplain and an officer will go to a house and tell a mom and dad or a wife or husband or a child that their son or daughter or husband or wife or father or mother won’t be coming home today. The flags at many police stations were flown at half-mast today but most people won’t know why. There will be a funeral and my fellow officers will come, a twenty-one-gun salute will be given, and taps will be played as I am laid to rest. My name will be put on a plaque, on a wall, in a building, in a city somewhere. A folded flag will be placed on a mantel or a bookcase in a home somewhere and a family will mourn.

There will be no cries for justice. There will be no riots in the streets. There will be no officers marching, screaming “no justice, no peace.” No citizens will scream that something must be done. No windows will be smashed, no cars burned, no stones thrown, no names called. Only someone crying themselves to sleep tonight will be the only sign that I was cared about.

There is always a risk my brothers and I won't come home at the end of our shifts (I almost became a statistic earlier this year on duty myself).  It is a risk we gladly take.  RIP brothers.  You are gone but you will never be forgotten.

I saw something that said people laughed and clapped after they were killed. Fucking ridicoulous. I hate this country.
