My apologies for the double post, but I found out what the lightbar on the Polara is. It was generally agreed upon that the beacon light and lollipop-lights were made by Dietz, with the beacon possibly being a Dietz 7-40.

So in an attempt to atenuate the anger the that this annoying summer heat produces me at night, I was watching U2’s Where The Streets Have No Name videoclip, performed in a rooftop in Los Angeles in 1987 and which shows a considerable amount of police vehicles.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzZWSrr5wFI&sns=em

At 0:47 there are shown various LAPD Kawasaki KZ1000 motorbikes.

At 1:45 there can be seen two Los Angeles Parking Enforcement Chevrolet Chevette’s, with an orange beacon mounted on the top.

At 4:00, a couple LAFD apparatus pass in front of the cameras.

At 4:55 there can be seen again the Chevettes, followed by a brief scene of an officer talking on the radio, next to a LAPD Ford LTD.

According to the infinite source of wisdom Wikipedia is, the police action in the clip is real, just a bit forced at the ending so they intervened forcing them to stop the concert, giving it a more dramatic ending.

Dog days afternoon has quite a few good old vehicles from the nypd of the era, not sayin watch the movie or anything but I'm not not saying that either *Wink *wink....

BTW Has some language that might not be suited for the younglings

Dog Day Afternoon was a great film; the scenery and RMPs showcased in it were even better. There are several movies that have quite a few vintage NYPD RMPs in them. Across 110th Street (1972) comes to mind as well, and that is evident at the end of the trailer as well as the movie.

I didn't get a chance to watch the video you posted until now, Strike, but great find! Those Chevettes are pretty cool and fit their traffic enforcement role perfectly. The LTD was a beauty, and the fire apparatus that passed was great too.

OfficerOwens, Across 110th Street is a great movie. The DVDs are difficult to come by as I believe they are out of print, but the film can be rented/purchased through Amazon's digital distribution service. Alternatively, I believe that someone has posted it on YouTube, but that version has Spanish subtitles that become distracting and that don't follow what's happening on screen. lol.

Please, let's keep this classic only :)  Beautiful Porsche, reminded me of these curious pictures of the day that the direction of traffic in Sweden was changed to the right in 1967.

There can be seen a few cops cars but I'm afraid I can't identify them. There's also a 1960 Chevrolet and a Mercedes, which look like some sort of diplomatic escort, judging by the flags on the toop (or are they simply taxis?).

Classic! One of my most favourite parts of history. I wonder what it would be like if it happened today in the U.K. =D. Would be pointless though since we're an island, it wouldn't make any good difference. All though it'd be interesting to see a bridge over the channel where slip roads go to the other side of the road so people drive on a different side from France =D

A bunch of old pictures I've come across of the Basque Conflict, an armed and political conflict between Spain, France and Basque Separatists and ETA separatist terrorist group that struck the Basque Country (Northern Spain) for years. Fortunately it toned down in the last years and the armed part could be considered over. Most of them range between the 1980's and 1990's.

Another bomb defusal, in Sestao, judging by the police car this one is older.

And turn into something like this?

Isn't that the same car as the one you have in your signature Strike? Anyway that car strongly reminds me of the LVPD car from GTA SA.

Cheers.

Having a Malibu would be pretty awesome - smaller RMPs fit into tighter spots, no doubt. Now if only we could have a Gran Fury, then my constant bitching about not having one would be invalidated. xD

Here's another photo, with a TwinSonic.

For those who haven't noticed yet, on certain site that happens to share the name with the department of Liberty City, a guy released a Twinsonic unlocked in a Fed Sig Dev pack. I'd put a link, but it'd get taken down.

So I'm thinking that I really want to do a skin for Kinksta's models like this: (spoilers because the pics are HUGE).

The old Kentucky SP paint job is pretty nice, not to say that it fits swell in the LTD. I think I still have somewhere in my hard drive a half assed skin for the old gfxle's '83 Impala.

Few years ago I came across a nice collection of cop pics, not strictly police cars related though. Still, I think you'll like them :)

Nice pictures, once again. Any idea which department is this from? Is that a Galaxie?

Classic Sao Paulo Police vehicles

1976

The bright orange and black colours seen here on a 1976 Corcel is synonymous with dictatorship era policing. Older Brazilians will remember this vividly.

1986

The Fusca, popularly known as the “Baratinha” or little cockroach, is possibly the best known police car of all times. It was used widely across the city of São Paulo from the 60s right through to the 80s  and was an instantly recognisable design classic. The 1986 model was one of the latest editions and already ran on ethanol fuel, an innovative feature  at the time.

1988

The Veraneio is probably the police vehicle most associated with the dictatorship era. Used by the Rota, the special forces of the São Paulo Military Police. During the repression era, the 5 metre long, 2 tonne truck was often deployed with no colours or outward symbols although few civilians were under any illusions as to what the 4 plain clothes men inside were really up to.

Weird ass truck, looks like if a 1970's F-series and an early 1960's Suburban had had a crazy night...

Opala

Another iconic car was the Chevrolet Opala, seen on the streets of São Paulo in the late 80s.
