  1. I never really played around much with modding GTA V, but from what my limited reading has gleaned the sirens appear to be in a different format than in IV. I'm sure someone could take the sounds from this mod and apply them to V, and provided they link back to this original mod I'd wholeheartedly endorse such a thing. 🙂
  2. That'd be great - more vintage police cars for IV is always a great thing, especially for the new Vice City mod. In the meantime, the Marbella by ThatOneHick is a good compromise as it strongly resembles a late seventies Ford Granada.

The 1980s models of Federal Signal's enduring PA300 siren series have deeper pitched tones compared to the modern production versions. They also have a unique, longer wail tone that sounds fantastic. I recorded the Wail, Yelp, and HiLo tones directly from my vintage PA300 - suffice it to say that this siren fits perfectly into the world of the Vice City Next Gen mod! Here's a video. I also recommend making use of Chip's excellent AI Sirens mod to allow the game's NPCs to use the different siren tones during chases.
  3. Three separate callers identified this guy as having a firearm and stated that he menacing people with it. He's captured on surveillance footage repeatedly aiming at people with what looks to be a firearm - perhaps the most damning photo is the one below. Then he assumes a shooting stance and aims at the police officers that responded to the multiple 911 calls. Justified 100% IMO. The fact that people feel the need to protest this shoot en-masse is mind boggling to me. Surveillance Footage: https://nypost.com/2018/04/05/videos-show-unhinged-man-terrorizing-block-moments-before-cops-gunned-him-down/ Here's some radio audio from the incident.
  4. It doesn't look half as good as the original. (Not to mention they changed the city from NYC to Chicago.)
  5. They've got nothing on Surviving Edged Weapons.
  6. +1 on the Carson siren - that airhorn is unmistakable.
  7. Theyr'e probably busy trying to figure out how to monetize Red Dead Redemption 2 Online for the next five years.
  8. There seem to be a few sirens in that clip. Not sure what the hi-lo tone or that second wail is from, but the first wail and yelp sound similar to the Federal Signal MS4000. https://www.fedsig.com/product/ms4000-series
  9. I'm a simple man. I see Massad Ayoob's name mentioned, I upvote. I also wonder if any reasonably large agencies still offer a revolver as a duty carry option.
  10. Original Light put it well, and it also depended upon what that department thought about which of the three major police package cars at the time (LTD Crown Vic, Caprice, or Diplomat/Gran Fury) suited them the best, or which they could get for the best price. The NYPD, for example, ordered Plymouth Gran Furys almost exclusively from the early 1980s up until '89 (except in 1987 when they purchased Caprices).
  11. Let me make sure I have this right. You believe this shooting was unjustified, even though the individual in this case raised a firearm and pointed it at the police? Attempts to reason can only go so far, guy. The moment a firearm (or other weapon for that matter) is involved the stakes raise exponentially. All bets for peaceful resolution are off if that gun gets raised or pointed at you. If you become paralyzed with inaction or constant requests for compliance for too long when the stakes are that high, you end up dead. Are you familiar with the case of Officer Kyle Dinkheller? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Kyle_Dinkheller Warning on the video. It's upsetting to say the least. RIP. ---- You've mis-interpreted that Supreme Court ruling, which concluded that the police do not have a duty to protect individual people, but rather the public as a whole. Read the case summary if you'd like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warren_v._District_of_Columbia ---- I'm unsure of the specifics as to why the officer was fired though; based upon the fairly limited news article things seemed to be somewhat controlled initially.
  12. Primarily the fact that it's badged as a Galls siren and is fairly cheap as far as sirens go more than anything. You have tiers of equipment manufacturers based upon their pricing models and who they're marketing toward IMO. Whelen, Federal, and Code3 are generally the priciest and are primarily focused upon professional usage. On the other end of the spectrum you have companies that cater to a more affordable price point for volunteers, the budget conscious, etc like some of Carson's models, SVP/Star-Signal, etc. I'd consider Galls to be in the latter category.
  13. The Galls Street Thunder is a budget model aimed at attracting the volunteer/individual market - I personally haven't seen it rolled out en masse.
  14. But can I select the raccoon mask from the character creator? :D Great work!
  15. That first lightbar on the Impala is a Smith and Wesson bar. I've always liked the looks of them. That second Twinsonic-esque bar might be a Yankee or another company's clone as well given how many variants there seemed to be of them. And that Code 3 LP6000 is gorgeous!
  16. Hopefully they're offering a full police package and not just a retail-style service package.
  17. Have you seen one in person? They're fucking gigantic compared to the older Explorers.
