What is the most accurate Police show no television right now?

Featured Replies

I want your opinion on what is the most procedural/forensics/investigation Cop show on television(cable or regular)

I believe Southland gets the prize. From the wicked calls of a woman who wants the local fast-food to give her nuggets to a black and white trying to pull over a black guy that ends up escalating into a small riot after the cop accidently shots the rear-window, everything in this show is pretty accurate, except for maybe that almost every cop in the show isnt corrupt.(Dont get me wrong, but LAPD has serious corruption issues)

  • I don't buy into that at all, dude. You can't fake pursuits on public roads, or officer involved shootings caught on dash cam, or a dying child with lungs too big for its body, etc. And most actors I

  • I think Cops might be the most accurate...

  • COPS hand down. A good show which depicts the most real-life incidents handled by the members of Law Enforcement and the most accurate in terms of how incidents are handled as well as suspects.

Right, except for the following:

Lucy Liu tampers with evidence after shooting a kid with a toy gun (removed the orange tip so that it seems that it looked like a real gun).

Ben McKenzie takes a camera filming his argument with his ex-girlfriend (?) so that the internal affairs of the LAPD can't see the basis behind her complaint of abuse.

He also has his mistress' brother steal a video tape from Shawn Hatosy's house to prevent both him (McKenzie) and Hatosy from punishment.

Michael Cudlitz is a drug abuser (mild case) (pain killers).

He also beats a man to death after the stress of the job overcomes him.

C. Thomas Howell is a bit crazy. (Also possibly racist/misogynistic).

Regina King has a child (from a fling?) Yet chooses to remain on the force, despite being a single mother

So yeah, this show doesn't portray corruption at all.

South land isn't even close...

There is no show that's going to be anywhere near realistic to police work. 80% of police work is paper work and stuff the other 19% is dealing with minor infractions then that 1% is dealing with bigger things like rapist, shootings ect...

But lets see..

COPS: only shows you the action (they film about 84 hours before they make 1 episode in that 84 hours is what goes into that 30 minute show)

Southland just shows crazy ass cops that is some what realistic but still its just a action movie basically 95% of that stuff would never happen or would rarely happen...

NCIS/ and other crime shows are just actions shows with a lot of shooting and ect...

The only one that are some what realistic are cops, and the first 48... (Cops just shows you the action but it shows you how they respond, first 48 shows you from step A to step Z in the process)

This question is no different then trying to find a realistic war film....

There really is only one film that vets could agree on and that was "saving private Ryan"

I only watch southland once in a while due to my country's shit cable TV programming.(lets just say they only upload new seasons almost one year later and keep reprising ONE episode)

The rest is off youtube, altought I do remind of Ben's argument with his girlfriend and the episode where a gang somehow gets involved. He was also going to be a detective.

I really need to keep up with this series.

The normal NCIS doesn't have much shooting and action. It's there, but the show is more drama focused than action. NCIS LA has a lot more action.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is pretty accurate (kidding) but its pretty funny

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is definitely the best cop show.

"Work and ideas get stolen, then you keep moving on doing your thing."

the funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it

I don't think Cops is the most accurate. Sure, it get ratings and it's fun to watch. But it is heavily edited, only a small fraction of the things filmed actually get aired.

Invenio, Investigatio, Imperium

That's because most people don't want to sit there and watch an officer go about his daily routine of patrolling and filing paperwork. They just want to see the more interesting stuff the officers get into such as traffic stops, disturbances, ect.

We have a few real life police shows over here, such as The Force - Behind The Line, Highway Patrol, RBT among with a few others I've forgotten.

I agree with that, it would not sell very well at all. Cops is indeed accurate in that aspect, I don't think anything is staged or such. But they cut out a vital part of police work. Again, I know why, just pointing it out that the accuracy drops a small bit. I always like those episodes of Cops when we 1. See a perp apprehended 2. processed by an officer at the station.

Also, thanks for the series you named. Always on the lookout for more police series!

Yet, after all of that, the actual Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department does a cameo on the show? I think it just shows how different kinds and breads of people are the ones who wear the uniform. Granted, I understand it's a fictional portrayal, but if you can get the Chief Beck to show up and take the time how for the quality of drama portrayed, then it deserves some merit of kudos.

Hope you're doing well Mister Reilly.

What about Adam-12? I know its old, but you can still catch some episodes on cable (or netflix or hulu or youtube).

Adam-12. Yes. I remember staying up until 4AM just to watch that back when it was on TV here last year, I've only seen a few episodes but I think it's really cool, I'm not sure if it's really realistic though.

Not to mention the cars...
