(Before someone accuses me of it, I'm not promoting shooting or violence here. Just posting a comical, violently American GIF, literally).

On a serious note, I could see both sides to the story. Brings up the old argument of freedom or sovereignty vs. security. I'll be interested to see how this debate unfolds.

Read this on a website, forgot which one. It will be martial law and a police state, when police are carpet bombing a crack house, and lining up civilians on the sides of the road by the hundreds and executing them. Just because a local police department buys 2 used Humvee's, doesn't mean they are about to seize control of the country. My town recycling department has an old Chevy CUCV. Are they beginning martial law, too?

I'm not sure I have ever heard a president say those things, feel free to link me to a speech / press release where a president said this. Of course, if it was back in the day those things might be hard to come by.
And I'm from Sweden, so I might have missed those things, so again, feel free to link me and I'll have a easier time believing you.

I'd love the thought of a "all knowing, all seeing" eye that would make up the Illuminati. I just find it hard to believe such a organisation could sustain itself. Of course, all goverments have their secrets. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have some information that the public shouldn't know.

The only things I want to believe in is just that.....

The United States government cannot and does not look into your emails and listen in on your calls. They must have warrants to do so. Even if they do, who cares? What could you be talking about that is so private that some guy hundreds and thousands of miles away will listen too? I just don't understand.. Because then, when the security is loosened and a terror attack occurs because of less monitoring and security, then the same damn people will be complaining about the lack of security anymore

Here in Indiana we got hammered with about 12" a few weeks ago and then about 8" a few weeks after that. I want it to warm up but at the same time I love the snow. Its going to get to a whopping 50 degrees next week and I will be outside in shorts and a t-shirt. Compared to -10 that is really warm.

That is a problem with media barely giving it a couple minute segment, but there are plenty of problems with mainstream media. Not at least the Snowden Whistleblower/Traitor tagline. And yes, they are human rights offences,
Article 12: "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks."
Article 19: "Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers."

So what would you have done after repeatedly warning some one who is holding two deadly weapons and approaching you to back off and put the weapons down?

There are 4 possibilities to this:

    1. Taser him, but it might not effect him, leaving you with a useless club and him with 2 knives.

    2. Back out of the house, possibly giving the suspect time to barricade himself and grab a gun.

    3. Do nothing, hope he doesn't try to kill you.

    4. Shoot to incapacitate.

Keep in mind that today, there is not a single police department in the US, or probably the world for that matter, that trains cops to shoot to wound.

WEST ALGONQUIN — Recruits, staff, and local law-enforcement celebrated the grand opening of the Liberty County Law Enforcement Academy's $57 million school building Saturday.
The Mayor of Liberty City, who has made Law Enforcement support a cornerstone of his leadership platform, told cadets that they are "part of this grand experiment that we have underway in Liberty City, where we will give our law enforcement officers every tool possible to combat the rising crime in the city, 'we're not doing the kind of work that we need to do and we need to change course.'"   The academy, which provides all cadets, Special Operations and general law enforcement officers, with an education rooted in law studies studies and training, opened in 2010. The academy had previously been housed in portable modular classrooms and moved to a temporary two-story, $4 million building near Francis International Airport..   The new 105,000-square-foot building, located just office the bridge entering Algonquin, is the newest addition to the law enforcement community this year. The academy is one of three training facilities completed this year which will be owned and operated by the Liberty County law Enforcement community.   "This is our investment in the future of Liberty City and its' law enforcement officers, that is saying that we want Liberty City to be as successful as it ever was, in fact we want it to be more successful in preventing and persecuting crime," The Mayor said.   The new building features shooting range and equipment, specialized housing for cadets, and other resources.

VARSITY HEIGHTS, Algonquin — Dozens of people connected to The Lost motorcycle gang were arrested during early-morning raids Wednesday that district attorney prosecutors said were aimed at dismantling a criminal organization where violence was part of doing business.   An indictment unsealed Wednesday shows that 42 people — from alleged gang members to a local bar owner — are facing a wide-range of charges that include drug trafficking, extortion, money laundering, witness tampering and illegal gambling. The charges, which come after a more than year-long investigation, were filed in U.S. District Court in Liberty City.   "All kinds of people from different walks of life are involved in criminal activity," said Assistant District Attorney Brad Toning, the lead prosecutor in the case.   County Sheriff, Algonquin Metro and State Police task forces raided The Lost MC Liberty City Chapter at the 1200 block of West Main Street in Varsity Heights, early Wednesday, December 23, 2013. More than 80 state and local law enforcement officers raided MC sites that are tied to The Lost motorcycle gang and rounded up members to face charges that remained sealed.
Only one of the suspects remained at large Wednesday following the raids in areas around the city that involved more than 80 officers from state and local agencies. The raids netted about 35 guns including several assault rifles, about $14,000 in cash and more than a dozen motorcycles, Toning said.   Investigators said the gang's criminal operations included using violence to collect on debts, insurance fraud schemes and running illegal gambling. The 70-page indictment also alleges the gang trafficked drugs, including cocaine and prescription painkillers.   Joshua N. Bowser, the first suspect named in the indictment and among those facing the most charges, was described by authorities as the gang's enforcer.    Another suspect is a hospital employee accused of being involved in trafficking prescription drugs, investigators said. The suspect still at large, 28-year-old Terrell Adams, is being sought on drug charges and isn't a member of The Lost, prosecutors said.   Investigators used a variety of ways to infiltrate the gang, including wiretaps, drug buys and an undercover agent who posed as an extortion victim, Toning said.   "Basically, the District Attorney and other law enforcement agencies threw the kitchen sink at these folks," he said.

When I get my licence, I'll try for a mini cooper. But, my dream is to have a 1974 Dodge Monaco Sedan. Because, you know, It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.

Don't be fooled by the Massachusetts "Assault Weapons Ban"
It only bans Fully Automatic rifles with 3 or more "Assault Features" such as a Pistol grip, scope, etc.
It also bans the use of collapsible stocks, flash hiders, silencers, and a few other things.
And of course, no Massachusetts resident with the exception of Law Enforcement are allowed to own any new magazine deemed "High Capacity" which is 11 rounds or more. If your high capacity magazine was produced before a certain cut off date (somewhere in 1994 i think), then it is perfectly legal. There are tons of pre-ban 30 rd STANAG magazines kicking around Massachusetts. Same thing goes with pre-ban rifles. They can have more than 2 assault features.

That being said, Semi-Automatic rifles such as the Smith and Wesson M&P Sport 15 are completely legal in Massachusetts. I can go down to the store right now and purchase an AR15 for around $800. I just can't put more than 2 "assault features" on the rifle. Because they all generally come with a pistol grip, that only leaves me 1 slot for something extra.

So yes, there are plenty of Semi Automatic, 30rnd rifles out there. Not to mention just because a MA resident may not be able to get a gun, doesn't mean someone who is already planning to break the law by going on a shooting spree, won't go buy one just across the border illegally.

Most AR15s issued to Police Departments are Fully Automatic, but only time will tell what they will be issued.

As a Massachusetts resident, i definitely want the BPD to have ARs. They're not going to hand them out to just any officer, only those who have been properly trained and certified will be able to use them. Even then, they will most likely be rifles that stay in the trunk or the front seat. They aren't going to be conducting traffic stops with them. The BPD wants these rifles to be available to select officers when they need them.

Police officers in general are already out-gunned. Just look at the two officers who stopped a car because it had a broken tail light. The guy gets out of his car with an AK and fires 33 rounds at them. Luckily they survived.
