CVPI's Catching Air

Featured Replies

This video is awesome, so I thought I would share it.

It's basically Crown Victoria Police Interceptors responding, going over a bump, and catching air. It's amazing considering the amount of abuse they can take.
The second car is the one that really catches air.

That was definitely epic and the roar of the engine was just badass! they do take a lot of abuse, the transmission was built for it, I've heard of cops slamming them into park going at least 50KM/H and out before it even stopped.. a regular transmission wouldn't take that kind of abuse.

Any car could take at least one jump like that! But this must've been epic for the drivers! Action movie vibe. =D

That is not safe driving in any shape or form. Those officers should not be driving their cars to the point where they are airborne, not to mention the urban enviroment where they need to be especially alert and ready to react to any sudden hazard, those officers would not have a chance to react to cross-traffic or a pedestrian that stepped out from between one of those parked cars.

The driver of the second car was close to losing control once the weight shifted back down after the jump, the car is weaving.

Too right. Flooring it through a four way stop intersection with absolutely no regard for the safety of the public is anything but responsible emergency driving. Like someone said in the comments section, if the person filming hadn't warned the guy on the bike trying to cross the intersection, a potential fatal accident could have ensued.

Nice find though.

"Dura lex, sed lex"

That is yet another reason why you gotta be very diligent when buying one of those things.  They get the crap beat out of 'em, as evidenced in the vid.

The British cop getting body slammed by his own car was pretty wild.  The crazy thing is, that cop jumped right back on his feet and pursued the hit/run guy on foot!  Without missing a step!  Damn!!
