    Hello all,

Just figured I'd stop in and say hi. Most of you probably don't even know who I am (or was). Congrats to Sam and the crew on such a successful mod, you guys are killing it. I can't believe how many people stream LSPDFR now and how popular it is. Its nice to see too that people are still converting and using my mods from GTA:IV. Its crazy after all these years its still going. I do miss this from time to time, but I'm out here doing this in the real world now. I hope you all are doing well! Stay safe out there.

PS: To all who have messaged me asking, YES, USE MY MODS, convert them to GTA: V (just credit me). That's what they are there for!

I believe you'd have to find the cars headlights in the carcols.ymt and change it there, however that would change the value for the car's headlights as a whole For the flash pattern
Look at the attached picture. At the top of the carcols entry for the vehicle in question, you'll see these sequencer values. For mine, in this pic, they're all at 0 meaning the headlights won't flash at all with the sirens. Simply create a 32 bit integer (i.e. "10101010101010101010101010101010") and convert it to decimal form and replace that number. This site will do it and even gives you a neat visualization of the flashing (everywhere there's a one) http://www.binaryconvert.com/result_signed_int.html?hexadecimal=AAAAAAAA

No problem! Here is a little help
<lightFalloffMax value="10.00000000"/> <!-- This adjusts the overall range of the lights -->
<lightFalloffExponent value="10.00000000"/> <!-- This adjusts how fast the light falls off to nothing -->
<lightInnerConeAngle value="2.29061000"/> <!--This is the BRIGHTER portion of the light cone-->
<lightOuterConeAngle value="70.00000000"/> <--!This is the outter softer edge of the light cone-->
<lightOffset value="0.00000000"/> <!--This setting is only used when Spotlight=true flag is used. This pulls or pushes the light source further or closer to the siren dummy. Think of this like a projector lens. The larger the number the more focused the image will be further away, and the more negative number the sharper the image will be closer to the siren dummy. Negative  numbers can be used. -->
<textureName>VehicleLight_sirenlight</textureName> <!--You can create any .dds image you want to use. This will be what the game projects as your siren. All textures need to be in the graphics.ytd in order for it to work. No specific naming is needed. BE AWARE! The Whiter a texture is the brighter it will appear in game. The darker the more subdued it will be -->e= how far away from the light dummy the light texture should start

and further down towards the bottom...
<spotLight value="false"/> <!--This is a tricky one...When spotlight=false, a light will be produced in a 180 degree arc from the siren dummy (Useful for when you have a side light for example on an ambulance.) When true, it produces a spotlight type of light. BE AWARE! When using custom textures spotlight=false with flip the texture on the verticle axis, so what you think is up is actually down-->

@willrsExactly. Now a way you can get a more realistic looking light is using a different texture. You can do this by changing <textureName>VehicleLight_sirenlight</textureName> to something else, or by replacing vehiclelight_sirenlight with something else. You will find this texture and may add whatever texture you want into your graphics.ytd. It is a black and white texture. The whiter the texture the more intense the light will  be, and the darker (blacker) the texture is the dimmer and less intense the light will be.  For example, this is a texture I made for LED lighting.
Now be aware, like I mention before if spotlight=true it will flip this texture vertically, so if you are using a specific type of texture you may need to flip vertically, or may need to adjust where the texture is before putting it into graphics.ytd. That being said, there are no restrictions on how many textures you can have, EXCEPT you can only have 1 texture per siren setting....For example, my vanilla cars use the stock texture, my LED cars use ones that are all similar to the photo below, and my halogen cars use a more rounded texture.

Hey guys, I'm Roegon. Some of you I'm sure remember me, and if you do, I'm sorry! I was pretty toxic back in the day, and I took a long time away from the community. A lot in my life has changed since I've been gone, and it feels like so much has changed about this community since I've been gone! So that's why I practically feel like I'm new.

If you don't know me, I am RoegonTV, I've been known by many names, but I'm not going to derail with that. I've always loved videogames, and whether I wanted to admit it or not, my heart has always been with GTA.

I dabble in 3-D Modeling, and you can find all of the things I've released on the site! Just today I got 3DS and Zmod set back up, and I plan to rework some of my old equipment into better, higher quality versions for release. I plan to mainly focus on equipment releases, but I'm sure the temptation of vehicle releases will get to me! I did however, stupidly, lose my "Mods" folders as many modders call it. So I'll be starting from scratch other than the things I've publicly released. I hope to see you all around, and you can find my website (not an ad, just tells a little about me) and a link to my discord on my profile. Feel free to PM me, I'd love to catch up with some old friends!

I would not.  Coming from someone who didn't play modded GTA IV and whose first experience with ELS is in GTA V, I'd never go back to non-ELS.  Primarily because the vanilla lights, even with fancy carcols, doesn't look that good imo.  Plus, I like the functionality of only having TA on, or code 2 lights.  ELS can be a bit more complicated and annoying, but its features make up for that.

We're doing some optimizations on our side anyway that might help. We're going to be introducing separate servers for Europe, and we're working on improving our systems so we can do proper load balancing.
Once this is done, we'll redirect traffic from problematic ISPs to these new European servers, which will hopefully fix the issue since they'll be hosted with a different supplier. I don't have an ETA for this though, but it's something that we're wanting to do before the end of the year.

Always encouraged to see new modelers to GTA, welcome!  3d Modeling can be a lot of fun.  It can be incredibly rewarding creating original content for the GTA world.  With that being said, a little constructive criticism modeler to modeler (don't worry I'll be gentle).  A mistake I commonly see new modelers make, myself included, is using meshsmooth or turbosmooth.  It can really make your models look great, but it adds a lot of unnecessary geometry to a model (which for video games is a bad thing).  From my experience setting proper smoothing groups instead is a better option.  Simple geometry paired with a good texture can look just as good in game.   An advanced technique is baking the detail from a high poly model into a low poly model, you can search Youtube for detailed tutorials if you're interested in learning more.  Another helpful tip would be to add triangles to your scene information (since the game converts to triangles), it's a good thing to keep track of when you model.  You can do this by clicking the "+" symbol in the upper left hand corner of your viewing window, select "Configure Viewports...", click on "Statistics and check the "Triangle Count" box and I also check the "Total+Selection" box.  This helps a lot with keeping track of how much geometry your selected model has and also keeps track of the rest of your scene (for when your outfitting a vehicle or modeling a complete vehicle).  Keep striving to learn more and grow as a modeler and you'll be surprised by what you can build.  It's all up to you how far you want to take it, good luck!

    Hope you are all well.

I finally got 3DS Max back so I want to model again! I want to release stuff, I don't want to convert it or anything, but I miss modeling. So if you have any suggestions on light bars etc. let me know and I might make it, between school and work I will try and find some time.
