The Prospering Continues.. 80,000 Registered Users! (90,000 Total)

Featured Replies

Good-evening LCPDFR users and guests:

Today, our statistics have hit 80,000 registered users. A user by the name of blakerocks registered the 90,000th user ID, expanding our database closer and closer to our 100,000-user-goal. We would like to thank each and every one of you guys for continuing to show your support to the LCPDFR community.

At the rate we've been going, we are seeing 10,000 registrations every two or so months. That is amazing! Be prepared to see 90,000 around summer time! Once again, thank you all. Together, we can continue to grow LCPDFR and G17 Media into the prospective community it's gearing towards each and every day.

Congrats.

But I'm having trouble understanding whether it's 70,000 or 80,000.

Shouldn't it say 80,000 on the front page, rather than 70,000?

Sorry if I look like an idiot.

If a member is removed for whatever reason, the number on the front page decreases. However, the user ID doesn't get reused. That's why there's a difference.

It's a bit more complicated than that I think - I'd find it quite alarming anyway that 10,000 people had been removed or banned or whatever.  There's some irregularities in the database where the user IDs move about a little bit, and some are left out and then I think there's even a few other bugs.  I think a small percentage of them will be users that we've banned and I know for sure that that number is under 200 although I suspect that in terms of people we've actually manually banned, and not counting ban evasion, etc., it will be closer to 100.  The remainder are most likely spambots which get banned instantly by IP.Board (our forum software).

But yeah, if someone had told me 3 and a bit years ago that I was going to, in 3 years time, be involved with something as awesome and popular as this then I'd have given them a look as if to say "yeah, sure".  I suppose the cool thing is that it all just happened, it wasn't planned or cultivated, it just happened and I went with it.  We have indeed come a long way since July 2009 when it was just me and my GTAForums topic.  Lil-rich and LMS came onboard in the following months, and then towards the end of the year Jay came along as well and it was then that we set up a proper website and I do sort of wish I could say that it just grew from there on, but it didn't really, everything was quite slow moving until only a few years ago when certain well known events happened.
