Battlefield 4

Recommended Posts

As some of you may already know, the next 26th of March the next Battlefield will be presented. Meanwhile, the first artwork has been officialy released, which has plenty of similarities with the BF3.

By other hand, a secondary version has been displayed too, which has small clues of the possible ambientation of the game.

These small pictures over the main artwork show that the next Battlefield could be set in China, as it's shown a picture of Shangai next to the guy running and above the 'TM' appears to be a landscape that resembles to a place in China called Three Gorges.

On the other hand, between the 'L' and the 'D', there's the face of a likely oriental woman, which, apart of evidencing the possible asian setting, allows to think about the presence of female soldiers ingame.

In addition, in the picture, there's a Chinese fighter Chengdu J-20.

The US Army will be clearly another faction ingame, just looking at the soldier running toward us and the vehicles behind him. Also, between the 'D' and the '4' there are two Amtraks running.

The game seems to be set in the present days. The soldier of the artwork is armed with a tactical sig sauer and a silenced M39 rifle.

Personal opinion: I have to say this hasn't whet my appetite. I see it like if it's gonna be a sequel of the BF3. I am tired of the modern warfare and I was hoping something different. Anyway, I am looking forward to see the presentation in a week and I hope I can change my mind about the game.

So, what's your opinion, guys?

I'm not looking forward to it.

I absolutely LOVED Battlefield 3 and played it almost religiously.

THEN EA got their muddy fucking hands on it and introduced "Battlefield Premimum" which just ruined the game for me.

No, I'm not paying you another fucking £30 just so I can get maps earlier, fuck you EA, Simcity isn't the only franchise your dollar-signed hands have ruined.

I don't understand how it shows that the "US Army" will be involved. Those are LAV-25s which are only in use by the USMC. While I'm not discounting the possibility of the inclusion of the Army within the game, the battlefield series has made clear focus on the Marine Corps in their production. The male in the front has an IR flag on his OTV-Variant that is available to both the USMC, USA, and small combat elements of the other branches, the primary weapon appears to be a McMillian Tac-300 (which is solely used by the Navy SEALs) and his secondary is a glock sidearm of an undetermined caliber. While branch of service is undetermined, and taking into account regulations to grooming, I would take into consideration that this is either a SEAL, or some other member of a SOF element.

If that has been (or will be)  altered or not, will be shown in time.

The vehicles switched sides and the guy is running. What do you mean no difference?! [/sarcasm]

I remember when the Battlefield franchise experimented with different settings and gameplay styles with each release.... I guess they can't away with that anymore though. Modern/near future US-focused is probably all they're allowed to do.

Although that said, I feel like if they released a sequel to say, Battlefield 2142, it'd be likely to be really different and ruin my nostalgia of that game.

Buying all the map packs seperately costs more money. And it's not as though DICE didn't have a say in Premium. EA just produces the game, they have very little to do with development. EA has had the same level of control over the game since day one, and it's essentially the same as Call of Duty Elite. I certianly prefer paying less money, getting stuff earlier so PS3 users can't rub my nose in their early release maps and getting a few weapon and server perks. I was/am a hardcore BF3 player, I bought the latest Medal of Honor just to get BF4 Beta access, and I will likely play BF4 just as much as BF3. Regarding Bad Company 2, it was a great game, but not much changed going over to BF3. They changed the dynamics of hardcore & softcore a bit, nerfed the M1911 pistol, took away ghille suits and bullet trails, and added scope glare at ridiculously distances, even at night. Beyond those things, and tinkering with the classes a bit, the game is virtually the same. Any new Battlefield is a good one for me. For those who want some difference in their shooters, pick up a copy of Crysis 3. Different engine, different mechanics, different time period, no vehicles.

I've only just got BF3 Limited, and idk how long it will be before I get Premo version tbh lol. I'm so far behind with all the unlocks, and it will be another Origin/Online Always DRM crap, where u can only rent servers from pre-determined providers, I'm wating for them to drop the BF3 server support as that's when I hope they release Dedicated Server package for them.

According to the people who created the BF:BC2 Server Emulator (Which allows modification and custom server configs), they are already working on one for Battlefield 3, have a peek at it here: http://www.mordorhq.com/content.php?11-Battlefield-3-Server-Emulation-is-Now-a-Close-Reality.

Seems promising, but in terms of Battlefeild 4, it just seems like a "Fix it new shiny game" from DICE/EA, especially with the artwork being focused on the drabby blue and orange.....again.. :yucky:.

You have to keep in mind that Battlefield and Call of Duty is the gaming equivalent of the crash, bang, wallop action film genre, they're none-stop action and thrills, accuracy and realism aren't a priority as long as people get to shoot and blow stuff up.

These games will follow the tried and tested form, look at how most COD games are nearly identical, it's the same content, only slightly tweaked and with a few new maps, it's just "another" "brown shooter".

The main reason for why I won't be interested is the publisher, the greedy bastards aren't worthy of a game purchase, look at how they messed up BF3 by adding a premium pack, I'm sure DICE will make a good game.

I'm a huge Battlefield fanboy so I can't wait for this, but as NB said EA are a bunch of greedy bastards who are just in it for the money but I'm pretty sure I will buy it. I mean get Beta access anyway since I'm a BF3 Premium member.

I am not really sure about preordering the game. And in the case of getting BF4 I would preorder it so I have the first DLC free. But come on, the game isn't even out and they are already speaking about the same shit of premium and DLCs of BF3?

That was probably one of the reasons that made me tired of BF3, and this new game, though it has awesome graphics and effects looks too alike to 3. I am not gonna lie, the gamplay left me a bit impressed in some aspects, but by other hand, it just seemed a recycled BF3. I'm one of those who thinks there should have been a Bad Company 3, I've got great reminds of the BC2, or at least change the ambientation of the game to vietnam or cold war, even WW. Now all the freaking games are the same...

@Sharp, that signature made my day xD
