  • I'm currently working on a new version of my old LCPD pack ('?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>), using new equipment and a new livery. The CVPI is in progress right now: More pic

  • Made a short video of the lightstages of the cars from the pack, front view only though:   I removed the dashlight because it was still partly visible if you replaced it with a transparent textur

  • Just tested it, it works absolutely fine:   As visible in the picture as well, any of the front LEDs of the Liberty can be turned into a steady burn activating together with the secondaries, tho

Possible to get a Dallas PD Charger with their post-2009 livery? They're only using Chargers now. Just a very small number of Impalas left running around in the old livery nowadays.

Would be a perfect match for your Texas DPS collection (which I'm using now).

Edit: Meant to add that their SWAT officers are still using Tahoes in the old livery as well.

I actually don't like the look of the car so much that I have to create it. The model isn't that specific anyways, there're a lot similar vehicles released.

I'm currently working on an LAPD Pack. It's going to be as realistic as possible. More information and pictures as well as a list of all planned cars can be found here.

The both Interceptors as well as the BMW are actually ready for release, though I'm not in the mood for releasing anything anywhere currently.

All this competition between modders and modding websites is really starting to annoy. By now, it seems like most websites only want people to upload their mods there, any other links are getting deleted. We now have some large modding websites, a lot of them having problems trying to organise their thousands of members, but they still want more. As well as hundreds of small websites, each of them trying to get at least a few active users. The majority of mods uploaded here are simple texture mods or CVPI models made by putting together unlocked parts. Not to mention the ever-growing amount of thieves.

I'm not criticising anybody personally, that's just my point of view, and my reasons why it's a hobby that isn't much fun anymore. And it seems to keep getting worse.

I don't quit modding, I'm still working on my Slicktop Highway Patrol or the LAPD pack, but don't expect much activity or any release. I want to try to get back what was the reason why I started modding, the fun of creating your own content, of forming the game the way you want to have it.

That's good. Just keep doing what you do best!

Cj, Don't you have your own website? Just upload them to your website. only release it to your members. There will always be competition and there will always be thieves. Unfortunately, that's life. It will always be that way.

I think you have the best mods out there. I would hate to see less releases from you.

As far as I am aware there is no competition, we're not trying to compete with anyone. We're quite proud of the community we have, we want the community to grow and be better than it was before. That's why your statement puzzles me, you used to submit a lot of stuff to us, however you stopped doing this and it seems that you have changed to using your own modding website as the only place you release mods.

While yes, we do not allow people to post links to content they submitted to other websites, we also do not require that all content submitted to us is exclusive to LCPDFR, everybody can submit their file to LCPDFR.com and any other modding site theywant, we are happy little flowers as long as the files are not violating the community guidelines.

See it from our perspective, we have to keep LCPDFR.com's interests in mind, we gain nothing from allowing people to advertise on our site, it does not benefit us in any way, why would and should we allow it?

I know that some modders felt as if their downloads didn't get enough exposure in proportion with the effort they put into it, that was valid concern so we tried to implement some changes, the featured tab on the forum page that now rotates between a few mods so they stay on the front page for longer, the updated "recent downloads" bar on the forum page as well the featured authors in the download section, we're working on a couple more changes, but we certainly feel as if we have done and are continuously taking steps to improve the site while not limiting it for other members, we want a download section that is free for everyone to submit files to.

I can completely understand that some people are not interested in this way of running the site, however our users should not expect to use the site as a way attract attention to their content if they are not a part of our community, we don't allow adverts on the site for any other type of advertisement, we have been lenient regarding advertising content released on other modding sites as we knew we had the issues I talked about above, however we certainly feel that the changes we have made has alleviated the concerns that were previously held.

I know I can be quite blunt when I talk so please don't take this post the wrong way, I don't intend to attack or be hostile at all, quite the contrary, we're always working on making LCPDFR.com a better place, I know you have me on Steam or you can send me a PM if you wish to talk more about this, at the very least it would help me and the rest of the staff in understanding the way our members view the issue.

TL;DR - Everyone is welcome here, we do not see any other website as "competition"; after all this community is ought to be a big familiy within the enormous GTA IV modding scene. However, we do not see why people vigorously refuse to upload mods to our download base, yet in turn use us to advertise their content on other websites - that is the only reason why we're starting to stop this kind of behavior.

Due to the graphic nature of this post, reader discretion is advised.

As far as I know, there's a lot less competition now than there was a year and a bit ago.  Indeed, the only competition going on right now, and this is purely from speculation and from what has been leaked and/or told to me, is GPM pushing forward EVCS heavily as a way to get back at us, with the people in charge over there heavily supporting and promoting it as a way of making their site relevant again and 'competing' with us, ELS 7 and ELS.Net.  Again, this is just from what I've been told and it could be wrong, but judging by the amount of EVCS stuff on their site, I'm going to say it is at least partly correct.

Of course its true that most websites want people to upload their mods to that website, it makes perfect sense.  Indeed, I personally don't understand what the point is in letting people use LCPDFR as their own personal advertising tool - it seems stupid to me for us to allow people to just use us like that.  Here's the thing though, we all know that posting gallery images and making forum posts and getting in our featured blocks and spotlights is a brilliant way of promoting your work.  It puts it on prominent display to literally thousands and thousands of individual people and ultimately that's the thing that makes this site work and makes us popular - we have fresh, new content, every day.  So, yes, we understand that people do like to use us as a way of promoting and advertising their sites, their studios/teams and their mods themselves.  We support this and we encourage it, so long as what you are promoting or advertising is available on our site for our members to download, visit or whatever.

You have to understand that not all of our members want to search through 10 different sites every day for new mods - they like it when everything is available in the one place.  Essentially, LCPDFR.com is this one place.  It benefits us in terms of our exposure, popularity and traffic.  It benefits our members as they save bucket-loads of time, they have everything in one place and they don't have to rely on anything else.  The important thing to remember is that it benefits everyone that makes a mod too - by uploading it here, you are putting it on display to the single biggest community of this kind that there is, you are getting the widest and biggest possible audience for your work.

In short, we want you to upload your stuff here as it benefits everyone (as explained above).  If you don't want to upload your stuff here, that's fair enough, just don't advertise or promote it here either.  As long everything you advertise or promote has a link where it can be downloaded on our site, it can have any other number of links where it can be downloaded elsewhere.

"You tell me exactly what you want, and I will very carefully explain to you why it cannot be."
