Vehicle Search - Search a suspect's vehicle! 2.1.7

(49 reviews)

This plugin is obsolete; you should download PoliceSearch instead.

Information

From the time LSPDFR first came out, I wanted to add a bit more variety to what you could do.

This does just that.

Just detained a suspect and want to check their car for anything else you can charge them for? Simply go to any door of their car and press 'G' to search it. You can search the hood, trunk, and doors of a car. After a second or two, a notification will pop up, displaying what you found, if anything. This could be anything from some alcohol to license plates to a weapon. It's not just limited to just one item, either. You could find a weapon and some drugs, or maybe this guy likes to steal and has license plates, forged ID cards, and another vehicle's registration. If you've already searched a vehicle, then it will notify you of that, and list the items you found. If you accidentally search a car when you don't want to, press the search key again or just use a movement key and it will cancel the search.

In addition, you can pull out equipment from your trunk, such as rifles, body armor, and med-kits, in case a situation becomes more than just a small handgun can handle.

If you want another option in how you handle a situation, than this is for you. I hope you enjoy!

This plugin also has controller support. Just press left on the DPad by default to search a vehicle.

Installation and Usage

You need the Rage Plugin Hook for this to work. The newest version has been tested with Rage Plugin Hook v0.34.862.6641 ONLY and may not work with older versions.

When you have that installed, drop both the .dll and the .ini into your Plugins folder. Once you're in-game, press F4 to bring up the Rage Hook console, and type 'LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll' (without the apostrophes). If you're running an older Rage Hook, it will probably say something about the plugin not being verified. Just hit the up arrow, and then enter again. It should load correctly. After that, simply press the search key (default 'G' / 'LeftDPad') when near a vehicle's door to search it.

Configuration

In the included .ini file, you can edit things such as the button/key mapping, what items you can find, and the odds of finding an item. For more advanced users, you can change the animation your character uses as he searches.

Planned Features

  • Integration with FinKone's Police Radio K9

Credit

I'd of course like to credit G17 Media for creating LSPDFR, and the creators of the Rage Plugin Hook: for the hook itself, and for providing a ton of example code.

I'd also like to give due credit to FinKone, who gave me help with positioning code, and for his own plugin, Police Radio.

Please, give me any bug or crash reports. I'll try my best to fix them. I'd like suggestions on what I could add to the mod. If you have a great idea of something that would work well with the system already in place, then go ahead and tell me; if I think it would fit well, then I'll do my best to add it.

I've uploaded a video of the plugin in action which you can view here. This is of the first version, so keep that in mind.

Updated to the new version and it crashed in game as soon as I approached a vehicle. Tried to switch back to the last version and now im getting "Unhandled exception in plugin (LSPD First Response.dll) System.nullreferenceexception: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Any advice? Thanks!

Well, why did you updated it to RagePlugIn 0.22. 0.29 is already released!

I was going to upload the v0.29 fix, but lspdfr.com is having problems accepting that.

A fix will come out as soon as lspdfr.com lets me upload. Also, you shouldn't be getting an LSPDFR exception from this plugin. Remember, this isn't an LSPDFR Plugin, it's an RPH Plugin.

Yea I'm not sure what happened all I did was update the plugin then when it crashed I reverted back to the old version, even tried running LSPDFR without it at all and still got the same problem, it wont load LSPDFR at all and freezes the game. Tried re-installing LSPDFR with no luck either.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you're asking if it's different from the last update, then no, except that it now works with RPH v0.29.

My mistake, I thought there was a different vehicle search, but it was this one, just an old version I have.... Glad to see its updated... I hope the vehicle search add ons list still works.

You'd have to contact the author of it or try it out yourself, though I'm pretty sure it will work fine.

from the readme

"This is an edit of the ini file that comes with the search vehicle mod. I've added in tons of items (Over 280) that you can find when searching the trunks of cars, and I'll be constantly adding more so you don't have to. If you have any suggestions for any other items, feel free to let me know!

You have to have Vehicle Search mod installed for this to work.
Download it here: http://www.lcpdfr.com/files/file/7894-vehicle-search-search-the-trunks-of-vehicles/

Installation:
1. Download & Install Vehicle Search Mod
2. Replace VehicleSearch.ini file with the one provided in the Plugins folder

Full credits go to FtDLulz for the Vehicle Search mod."

I dont know who made it because there is no authors name in the readme..

So i got this to work but only with the controller. for some reason if i want to use say LShiftKey and i typed that into the ini file but it won't work. If i dont use a modifier it works fine. Only issue is that G is already mapped to in-game controls.  Is there a way to get this to work whilst using a modifier key cause it isnt working fully for me at the moment.

Is it not like LShiftKey or LShift but instead Shift?

Yes, as you can see from the example in the .ini file, it has to be either Shift, Alt, or Control, which means you can't use something like LShift or RShift. I may change that in the future to give people more keyboard options.

Yes please do. A modifier key is a must in most of the mods i use.

I am not sure what the issue is... Technically Shit and LShiftKey are the same thing, this is still the same key that you are pressing on your keyboard. I am not sure who uses the right one.

I use Shift+W for Vehicle (and Ped) Search. The modifier key line in the INI file is Shift. So Shift works...

You can use specific ones such as LShiftKey in the latest update.

Plugin works great

One Question though, When searching the hood, it always seems to come off.  I have seen others where this doesn't happen.  Is there a setting I can change to where it just opens the hood and it doesn't rip it off?

That sounds really odd. Do you have any alternate damage mods activated or something similar?

Nah, just seems to do this even without a chase either.  I could understand if it was a wrecked out car but some of these are non damaged.

Thanks for your mod, going to try it on 0.3.

Let me ask you something, is editing the startup.rphs and adding a line "LoadPlugin "LoadPlugin VehicleSearch.dll" working for this mod ? It's quite annoying to enter that command each time you start LSPDFR.

Hold shift while launching RPH  and hold it until the settings dialog comes up, or as it's loading click the little gear icon to get the settings dialog. Go to plugins tab and check all the plugins you want to load automatically.

Thanks for the quick update.
